ABOUT LISA WITT
I love to help students unlock their full musical potential. I have taught in a wide variety of settings from Music for Young Children to helping recording artists prepare their songs for the road. I also have specialized experience working with children that struggle with learning, developmental, and physical disabilities. While my background is classical, I’m currently focusing on helping my students play the music they love by ear! I’m excited to be a part of YOUR journey as you learn how to sight read, play by ear, and progress through musical theory. It is going to be fun!

Hi Lisa. I haven’t played my piano properly since school days. Life just happened. My kids are now all grown up and I now have time to relearn to play again. I was taught classical music, but have learned to play a little bit of chords. I just love the way you teach. Thank you for making these awesome Pianote videos. I’ll be practicing with you.

I'm am self-taught and so far i haven't paid attention to practicing scales, inversions, arlegios etc. (also bc it sounded really boring) but this routine is simply amazing! It's short but sounds really beautiful. So far i also haven't really paid attention to finger positioning, just putting them where i could reach and it seemed fit. I already learned so much from this video by paying attention where to put the fingers and stuff

It is unbelievable important to practice every day. I played Rachmaninoff and Bach live in front of thousands. Played live 4 hands, 2 grand pianos together. Then I stopped playing piano when I was about 15. Now I am 34, I picked it up again and it is a lot of struggle even though my fingers still have some memory in them for a free play.

I am a beginner-intermediate older adult player returning to regular piano practice. I totally LOVED this practice routine!!! It’s interesting, sounds beautiful, covers a variety of skills, helps me learn the key so well, is not too long, and has its challenges but not overwhelmingly so. I am adopting this as my new piano practice routine. Thank you!!

Lisa I appreciate your non-pretentious way of approaching piano. What you say at one stage I have found to be true - i.e. just sit down and start; next thing you know you've worked thru it all. I'll come back here, because I just find you self-assuring, and supportive. Piano and Music start with the basic concepts, but then can get very daunting, and you provide the encouragement we all need to maintain.

Merci beaucoup. I'm starting to follow your routine. I start with a five note scale, doing it 2x, 3x and 4x. I will do your scales and inversions, and then do it as an arpeggio exercise. I do either a butterfly routine or I hold down B and C with left hand 1 and 2, D and E with right hand 1 and 2, and then I play F G A with my 3,4, 5. I will do this about a minute at 130 to 140 bpm. Usually I can't go much more than a minute, and I'll try that 3 to 4 times. This really strengthens and coordinates those pesky 4 and 5 fingers. My piano piece is Bach's Prélude in C Major. I'm only doing closed chords at first.

Till now days, my RH can do an arpeggios 4 notes and while my LH doing broken chord 3 notes octave. So far it was not bad, but this video looks so good to practice by me. Thankful, Lisa.
