ABOUT LISA WITT
I love to help students unlock their full musical potential. I have taught in a wide variety of settings from Music for Young Children to helping recording artists prepare their songs for the road. I also have specialized experience working with children that struggle with learning, developmental, and physical disabilities. While my background is classical, I’m currently focusing on helping my students play the music they love by ear! I’m excited to be a part of YOUR journey as you learn how to sight read, play by ear, and progress through musical theory. It is going to be fun!

Hi Lisa. I haven’t played my piano properly since school days. Life just happened. My kids are now all grown up and I now have time to relearn to play again. I was taught classical music, but have learned to play a little bit of chords. I just love the way you teach. Thank you for making these awesome Pianote videos. I’ll be practicing with you.

Same here ma'am, for me hard college life took most of my time. Now I can sorta relax and play again myself. This time hopefully I'll reach where I want to be.
I'm am self-taught and so far i haven't paid attention to practicing scales, inversions, arlegios etc. (also bc it sounded really boring) but this routine is simply amazing! It's short but sounds really beautiful. So far i also haven't really paid attention to finger positioning, just putting them where i could reach and it seemed fit. I already learned so much from this video by paying attention where to put the fingers and stuff
What an amazing practice session. Why doesn’t every teacher teach to practice like this? Thank you, Lisa! 😃👏🏻
It is unbelievable important to practice every day. I played Rachmaninoff and Bach live in front of thousands. Played live 4 hands, 2 grand pianos together. Then I stopped playing piano when I was about 15. Now I am 34, I picked it up again and it is a lot of struggle even though my fingers still have some memory in them for a free play.
Thank you so much! I’ve been playing almost 2 years and finally seeing myself making progress. I am playing new songs every week! It’s slow and steady but so much fun! Sending love from Florida.
I am a beginner-intermediate older adult player returning to regular piano practice. I totally LOVED this practice routine!!! It’s interesting, sounds beautiful, covers a variety of skills, helps me learn the key so well, is not too long, and has its challenges but not overwhelmingly so. I am adopting this as my new piano practice routine. Thank you!!
This is quite simply the best practice routine I have ever seen. I came late to the piano (very late) but your approach to teaching is so nice. I am definitely going to use it and I have just ordered the scales and chords book. Thank you Lisa, you are my favourite teacher.
Demanding practice lessons Lisa. Thank you for uploading this - you have chosen a unique chord progression series and that too in a key I have never practised much on.. The last part is a real test on the players’ creative flair…cheers and expecting more from you…Thank you..
You taught me how to play the piano and I thank you so much! I watched the video where u learn how to play piano in 7 days. Each day was so simple to follow along! I appreciate you :)
Thank you SO much. This is by far the best practice session I've had in a while!! There's a ton of theory to explore and some creativity too at the end. I'm so so grateful that you posted this. Thanks again!
Great practice routine. And this version was extremely pleasant to hear as well. This style of practice covers the physical/technical while also appealing to the emotion. I'm 52 and learning to play the piano. It's been fun to learn from you. Thanks!
Lisa I appreciate your non-pretentious way of approaching piano. What you say at one stage I have found to be true - i.e. just sit down and start; next thing you know you've worked thru it all. I'll come back here, because I just find you self-assuring, and supportive. Piano and Music start with the basic concepts, but then can get very daunting, and you provide the encouragement we all need to maintain.
I'm getting back to playing piano after a very long hiatus because well... life happened, but I'm sooo motivated now that my life is back in order. I love your way of teaching!
Really amazing, dear Lisa. You got the magic to seem things so easily. Congratulations always for sharing your gift clear and easy. God bless you. Yo
Hola Lisa, vuelvo a ver tu video y wow que gran tecnica. Gracias por tu tiempo y dedicación para presentarnos esta metodología
I cannot tell you how helpful this video was!!! I feel like arpeggios has been the missing link in my piano playing!! Will surely be practicing. Thank you!!
Thanks for walking us through your practice. Structured practice always makes me feel so much more productive...except when I wander a little long and end up away in some far off key lol☺️. I hadn't heard this Bach concerto. I'm lukewarm about Bach but his pieces are amazing for technique. This one is really nice though so I'll be trying it tonight. You are sweet and lovely as always. Thanks for sharing 👍🏽
This is a really great practice routine and I Do it every morning! Thank you so much for this Inspiration
wow your technique is awesome, i've learned more here in 15 mins than in 2-3 hours sessions in class, years ago, I feel inspired to work harder now thanks...
She is an amazing, skilled and experienced piano instructor. Love u ma.
Exactly what I needed to help me start practicing again. Keep it short and focused at the beginning and build on that over time … thanks!
Thank you Lisa and the whole Pianote team ❤
If only we had more teachers like this! Thanks for this video and sharing the sheet music!!

God how has BWV 974 eluded me my whole life? Thank you so much for showing us this piece. Its outstandingly beautiful.
WAY beyond my current piano skillset but what a terrific lesson and what a terrific inspiration to stuff my butt in the chair and get practising. Thank you.
I've been palying a couple months, my daily practice i run through my natural major and minor scales, a couple major apreggios, a bit from my Alfreds method book then a little work on River Flows In You which is the first piece im learning.
Thanks for the PDF this is amazing a good way to practice scales
I can feel how much time, energy and effort you must have put to make this amazing video. Thank you so much🙏. Keep it up.

This is really cool and effective. It has more insight than what you've explained. Thank you. 📝📝📝📝📝📝
Merci beaucoup. I'm starting to follow your routine. I start with a five note scale, doing it 2x, 3x and 4x. I will do your scales and inversions, and then do it as an arpeggio exercise. I do either a butterfly routine or I hold down B and C with left hand 1 and 2, D and E with right hand 1 and 2, and then I play F G A with my 3,4, 5. I will do this about a minute at 130 to 140 bpm. Usually I can't go much more than a minute, and I'll try that 3 to 4 times. This really strengthens and coordinates those pesky 4 and 5 fingers. My piano piece is Bach's Prélude in C Major. I'm only doing closed chords at first.
Thanks for teaching this gorgeous Bach’s piece. One of my favorites! 👏👏🎶💕

Love this practice routine, learning so much, fingers are moving now
Lisa. I love yours lessons. Thank you
As always a great video. I had a little chuckle when I heard you refer to the Natural Minor (Aeolian Mode) as D Minor. That would have failed the ABRSM exam up until 2012 and does not crack a mention in my AMEB book. The Circle and Jazz has caught up with you. Keep on Boogieing🥰
Thank you Lisa! I love your videos!! - they keep me inspired to try new stuff with my students And I love this piece! (just a quick note, at 11:22 when you played Bar 6, your RH was playing the faster rhythm just as it's written in Bar 8 ; )
love ur lessons..so inspired

Watching you play. I feel it's so easy and I am already a master
Thank you ❤
It was lovely
Nice practice you've saw and i will do that every day in 15 minutes. I love Dm as a base not. Btw, my LH & RH should be increasing for about coordination and independence. Till now days, my RH can do an arpeggios 4 notes and while my LH doing broken chord 3 notes octave. So far it was not bad, but this video looks so good to practice by me. Thankful, Lisa. Waiting your next practice for a beginner...
Just so happens I’m working on D Minor scale right now this is perfect, thanks!
Gracias desde Ciudad de México, he aprendido bastante con esta clase👍🏻🇲🇽🤩🎵🎹
Thanks Lisa you are wonderfull piano teacher🇲🇽👍🏻🤩
Hi I'm from India. I'm an older person. Trying to learn on my own, as no one is ready to teach me, because of my age. I love the way you teach. I'm a retired teacher and enjoying watching you, but if you go a little slow it would be wonderful. Thanks dear ❤😊
I love this❤
Great video and enthusiasm 👍 Little tip: when playing arpeggios, one should avoid playing a black key with the thumb, when coming from (or going to) a white one Hence try Bb major with LH: 3213 and RH: 2124.
The way you teach is so easy to follow. I hope you are my teacher
You are a great teacher👌
Thank you once again Lisa ❤️ 🎹
Thank you!!! This is awesome!!!
Great video!!!!!!!
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I really love this D minor scale, 5:30 that sounds very cool!!❤❤❤
Tnx Lisa 💞🌸. Greetings from Croatia! 🏊🌅
Many many thanks from Argentina.
I love improvising on the piano while I have a recorder going on my phone so that if I play something really cool I can go back and hear it again to use in a piece or a song or something
I started taking classes for piano from a teacher around 3 years back. Around 2 yrs i practiced, then the pandemic came and all classes were online (on zoom) and i lost inspiration. Had my own mental battles. And almost after a year and a half , i feel like starting again after watching this video. Thanks Lisa 🙂🙏

As a D minor fanboy, I’m here to say it’s the best key ever written and it’s not even close.
inspirational ❤️
Excellent! This will take off 6h45m of my daily practice routine freeing me up to do normal things like living life! Thanks mate! 👍👍
Hey people - loving this general framework for a practice session. Anyone got any other 4 chords progressions that they could recommend for me? Finding the Dm Bb Gm A(m) so powerful would love to find another good one. Cheers in advance!!
Beautiful! Beautiful!! My lady...
I needed thisssss
Hello! Nice video! I have some trouble doing the second inversion shape (of chords like Gm and A) with 1-3-5 fingers. Naturally I tend to use 1-2-3 fingers. Should I get used to do this with 1-3-5 and invest on it an relearn the shape?
I must more practice!!! Thank you

I had fun with you. Thanks
I played the chord progression a few times and i had a big deja vu, because it sounded so familiar. Then i tryed to play the melodie from the serenade of schubert -which i played a year ago- out of my head along with the chord progression. And it fit perfectly. It was such an awesome feeling.
I'm a reggae musician, I play guitar but I've learned a lot from you. I learned from you how to play Ed Sheeran's "Perfect" and I am grateful. Is it possible to make a similar tutorial for Bob Marley's "Turn your lights down low" and/or "No Woman No Cry?"
Great lesson Lisa! But with respect to practicing daily, do we do practice the above for one key signature per day or multiple key signatures per day?
Hey Lisa, Love the content. I wanted to query as to wether you have a teaching program that is a follow along similar to this video? I'm a beginner coming innto intermediate. Teaching sessions that cover scales. chords etc but also finger exercises for dexterity, individual dual hand playing etc?
I need that Book in Spanish! What a great channel! Greetings!
