A plethora of information there. At 63 I had never had a true bike fit . So for that years birthday that was my present from my very understanding wife. Wow!! What a learning experience. Of course they were kind of shocked when I showed up and also brought in my Trek 520 for a fit. All those nice racing bikes there and some very nice products. Learned so much thru video and computer graphing. Ended up with a new saddle and stem. Expensive but worth it just for the experience and of course for the ride. Take care, Al

Like Dan says, it doesn’t matter the bike it’s about the rider. Sounds like you had a great experience

I had a bike fit from rapha Manchester and my position before didn't feel like it needed much tweaking but I had the cash to spend so I thought why not .... After the fit it felt like I was welded to the seat and I could spin way easier than before , good bike fit is worth its weight in gold

Visited Dan @UKbikefit last week and made some adjustments to my 7 year old S3, and as I suspected would be the case prior to my visit, I bought new shoes following a comprehensive assessment of my feet and their relation to the starting-point of my position on the bike. Basically shoes I’d bought 18 months ago and started using earlier this year, were wrong in every possible way! First post-fit ride on Saturday - 100kms - and a few minor muscle-aches in the thighs and calves - which is proof to me that the position has been improved and I’m now firing-up muscle-groups not previously fully engaged. I travelled a long way to see Dan for the session, but totally worth it and came away with much more knowledge and understanding than I had. Some further suggestions tested - bar width and stem - will yield further improvements once I change those, perhaps later in the year. For now, going to spend the next couple of months acclimatising to the new tweaked set-up. Thanks Dan (& @Chris Hall for this - and other - videos highlighting UKBikeFit).

Thanks Chris. Dan. I would love to hear more about body proportions and bike types please! For example, as someone with shorter legs and a longer torso I struggle to get comfy on an endurance geometry. I seem to prefer a longer, lower posture. I have found very little on line about this but I know, from forums here and there that I'm not alone. I've also read the opposite applies for riders with longer legs and shorter torsos. Like, I guess the question is... how much does morphology affect bike fit and what should people look for? Thanks @chrishallrides @ukbikefit

I’ll see if I can get some thoughts from Dan on this. There are obviously different geometries that suit different people.

I used the Shimano method of measuring the stem to saddle Where the saddle measures 80mm wide, and that got me close. I would like to know a better way too. Thanks
