The OP said there's an inconsistency in the films' plot chronology, in that Stark said he never actually said goodbye to his dad before they left, while here it shows he did in a simulation, but the simulation was projecting a flashback which also had some editing into it, where Tony envisioned what he wished had happened, that he had bid his father farewell at least getting some closure, and what was shown here, the editing, never actually happened. Its just Tony showing what his new invention could do which is apparently reliving and dealing with trauma to acceptance. I suppose it works with the medical field as well to help patients. And its technically Quentin Beck's invention and Tony just named it, albeit giving it an unpleasant name. Yeah. So the person you called an idiot was just explaining to the OP what I am explaining to you now. And who's the idiot? You.

See, that's why if Quill is to be blamed, and he is guilty, then Tony is equally to blame for the divided strength of the Avengers prior to the Battle of Wakanda. They both made the same kind of mistake and people paid dearly for it. You could argue that Tony's outburst was a little more irrational as he knew Bucky didn't do it of his own free will, and yet he still wanted him dead, so he recognized Quill's own irrational anger and saw that he's got no right to criticize. And Tony had no way of knowing that Steve and co. were also in the midst of battle so as far as he knew, he failed coz he couldn't let go of his own ego long enough to properly call for Steve's help and before, that his inability to control his grief was why he couldn't easily contact Steve in the first place.

And if Cap DOES go rogue anyway, Tony would have less incentive for going after him (considering he already blew off Ross in the movie as it was, what more if he and Cap didn't part on bad terms), and then have less pride to overcome in actually calling for Cap. Actually, they could've remained in contact even. As we see in Infinity War, even Rhodey quickly regretted being part of that exercise in stupidity, and if the soldier is willing to risk court martial to do what's right, what more the billionaire superhero who's had a history of defying authority that tried to keep him pinned, as shown in Iron Man 2? Rhodey would have encouraged him that the Accords were not the best idea. And, if you're going to still say that the actions of Quill ALONE caused half the universe to be erased, then you SHOULD also blame the guy who screwed up the nearly-equally successful second chance at stopping Thanos: THOR. Why did Thor not "go for the head"? Because Thor explicitly wanted Thanos to suffer and he wanted to SEE Thanos suffer. Both Quill and Thor wanted to hurt Thanos and see him get hurt. Even Thanos points out how stupid Thor was being. If not the head, cut off the arm. Thor has every right to feel like utter crap in Endgame, because it IS kind of his fault Thanos got the opening to snap. Our argument hinges on people being emotionally mature and pragmatic, but Tony, Quill, and even Thor to a lesser extent are none of those, so we are left with tragic mistakes of emotionally compromised individuals. After all, Tony siding with the Accords in the first place was also an emotionally compromised decision due to a combination of his then-breakup with Pepper, revisiting the grief he felt from his parents' death, and being guilt-tripped by the mother of a casualty, so he was emotionally compromised the entire movie because of his previously-established issues piling up all at once.

@@UmarTahir That's fair, since that was the point anyway: tragic, emotionally-driven mistakes, and all three made very big ones that ultimately agreed. The thing about Tony calling Cap, though, was, he had some time to press Call on the phone as soon as the four went out of the Sanctum Sanctorum to check out the noise. He had the phone out, he was about to, but he hesitated, and either Strange or Bruce pushed him into doing it, and when he finally decided to do it, they were interrupted by Ebony Maw's arrival and things spiraled from there, so he couldn't make the call. It's by sheer luck that Cap and co. were already on the scene for Wanda and Vision, though, yes, it means they were unavailable to help Tony anyway.

Or maybe it's just movie and they don't care about continuity that much. Why do you think Wanda talks with an American now, when she was originally talking with a Sokovian accent? Or why Peters room changes between films. Or why Homecoming said it took place 8 years after The Avengers but that means it comes after Endgame (Russo's confirmed it doesn't make sense). Or in GotG they said Gamora was the last member of her race and Thanos killed her parents in front of her, but in Infinity War Thanos takes her from her mother and only kills half her planet. Or why did Tony even die when he has the extremist tech from IM3 that literally saved Peppers life. They wrote to benefit the story...

@@Fei-Chan that's the one thing that's bad about the stones in the mcu. The stones flip flop so often from being unable to be held in Guardians, too being absolutely fine to touch base handed in infinity war, and even non deadly at the end with the snap, to using the gauntlet being the most dangerous thing in the universe when thanos snapped TWICE and managed to survive just fine. Like, it'd be fine if they gave an explanation, but they don't. It's just flip floppy and, imo, bad writing for the stones. Like they clearly wanted it to seem like the rules of the mcu stones bend when it's thanos, but that's just a way to make him look tougher

@@phoenixc108 Thanos is really tough and thats just it, he didn't even fully survive the snap that he did, you can even see the burns on his gauntlet and also the wounds from his second snap on half of his body. Also I think the power stone is the only one shown that can decimate people when in touch but it was also said that only people with great strength can survive its full power, if Ronan can do it whats more when Thanos do it.

I don’t know if ppl realize just how amazing of an actor RDJ is. Look at all the emotions in his face at 3:14 confusion, sadness, fake happiness, etc. All in a one second shot with one quick line.

Its worth pointing out that Tony is the public face of the Avengers. Every time anything goes wrong, it's Tony who deals with the fallout. He is the only publicly accessible one and he's the one who gets blamed for everything. Which is distinctly unfair, because he does try to prevent all the tragedy and pain and disaster, but he gets blamed when it happens anyway

At the time Sam and Steve were fugitives so the public looked to them. Peter also told his friends that Spider-Man was an avenger back in homecoming so anyone at his school would think that Spider-Man and Ironman spent time together

The relationship between Tony and Howard was so well done. I think one of my favourite moments with Tony was in Civil War when he was fighting Steve and said "that shield doesn't belong to you. You don't deserve it. My father made that shield." That right there revealed everything about how he felt about his dad.

@@adib6413 we saw how Howard felt about Tony, and we saw glimpses here and there throughout the films of how Tony felt about Howard, but it was that moment in particular, for me, that really demonstrated the depth of Tony's love. He tells Steve, freaking Captain America, that he isn't good enough for the shield his father made. That, more than any previous comments he'd made, shows the depth of his love and respect for his father.

@@jcraigwilliams70 I always saw it as a disconnect of Tony and his father. Tony's selfishness in the heat of the moment sadly/angrily telling Rogers he doesn't deserve that shield. But Rogers fought and bled for that shield, Tony doesn't know half of what Rogers did for it, while for Howard and "SHIELD" all it was, was a hunk of spare vibranium they didn't care about. I guess the scene is heavily open to interruption but I never saw it as a interpretation of tony understanding his father, but more of a selfish angry moment. "You don't deserve it. My father made that shield". Howard didn't make the shield for Rogers, or even the idea of Captain America. He made the shield just because Howard could. No one deserved the Shield more then Cap because Cap was the only one that even thought of using it. But because Rogers/Cap was the one who decided to use it, and the one who thought he earned that right, he also was the one who felt he had fallen from grace. Captain America always had a higher sense of morals then Tony. Even though Tony was a great Hero he never was as morally sound as Rogers was. Ironically making him extremely like his father Howard.

@@konstellashon1364 In Iron Man 2, Tony sees a movie where Howard says "my greatest creation is you". What you need to bear in mind, and what Tony is keenly aware of, is that Howard was also involved in the "creation" of Captain America. So the revelation Tony is experiencing in that moment is that Howard is saying "I'm more proud of you than I am of Captain America". Which, apparently, Tony had doubted, and needed to hear. An aspect of the climax of Civil War which is often under-appreciated, is that not only is Tony learning that Bucky killed his parents, but that the reason they died is because while his father was apparently too busy to spend time with his son for Xmas, he was still finding time to try to recreate Captain America.

I love how you can see Tony’s character change throughout the movies based on the things he invents. From building high tech military weapons in his first movie to building the arc reactor as a seemingly unlimited power source to building suits for himself to protect the Earth to building something that helps the individual deal with traumatic memories. Even at the end of the movie Tony’s helping Rhodes after the accident with the mechanical exoskeleton that he’s working on so he can walk again. This scene really shows his character because he knows he can’t invent everything forever. So he’s willing to use his money to fund other peoples’ inventions. Truly an inspiration to the world in the MCU.

I was rooting for Tony actually. Sure Steve had a point, but this movie was too painful for Tony. He was broken up with Pepper, his best friend got paralyzed, everyone (from Ross to that old lady) blamed him what Avengers have done in Lagos and Sokovia, he has faced his traumas since the first Avengers movie, Natasha blamed for being selfish while all he was trying to do was to save the team since the second Avengers movie. And if you think that wasn't enough, he saw the footages of the assassination of his parents while the killer is in the room. Brainwash or not, would you not give the same reaction? Sure Cap also had problems like losing Peggy or becoming criminal but literally everyone treated Stark like asshole, although he was nicer than he was on his solo movies.

Al Strider you do know that the “cops” that came after Bucky had orders to shoot on sight right? They wanted to execute Bucky for a crime they weren’t even a 100% percent sure he committed just because the government needed a scapegoat; the easy answer, “The Winter Soldier did it”. That itself is an illegal order that the United Nations decided to carry out and also violates Bucky’s constitutional and human rights. The only reason Cap went to his apartment was so that Bucky could _LIVE_ to see a fair trial: something the government didn’t even feel like upholding for him. Plus when Bucky is finally in custody Steve asks about a lawyer and get denied, don’t tell that’s not a fucking violation of many things in the court of law The fact that you say Wanda would’ve been in prison proves how unjust the government is. Wanda has not been charged with anything therefore there is no reason for her to be on house arrest nonetheless prison cuz that would be flat out illegal. Fucking Vision was keeping her there _against_ her will. Nah sure Wanda wanted to leave definitely, she just felt like she had _no choice_ but to stay. So she isn’t really _willingly_ staying there out of her own will really; she’s scared, the gov’t is basically teaching her to fear herself and is making her feel like a caged animal for doing the best she could possibly do in that situation in Lagos. Dude the Accords violates many human rights and also has tons of unconstitutional things in it. I mean the document would literally force enhanced people to register under the Accords like Jews were forced to under Hitler. Cap wasn’t having any of that either. *”Steve kept breaking the law”* Who cares about the law at that point if it’s not moral? Sure as hell not Steve; you think back in his day were things like segregation, Jim Crow laws, treatment of women etc.were in fact with in the law made Steve feel all better just because it was “legal”? Steve goes with what’s morally right not what the government thinks is good.

All Tony did was honouring that excellent piece of technology. No one laughed at B.A.R.F. and he even said he has to work on that. Quentin Beck did a great job but he is to unstable to acknowledge Tonys credits. I bet Tony would have even thanked him personally. I mean Quentin literally helped him getting over his family!

this scene explains why Happy said ‘Tony always second guessed everything he did’ in Far From Home. Edit: Also, there’s continuity error made by me, I missed this scene (also breakup part) when watching Civil War. Years later, I watched the scene where Happy tells Tony wasn’t perfect, I just couldn’t relate to that scene until I found this scene. In my mind, Tony was always perfect then.

Here we see Tony introduce BARF while leaning against a wall, explain what it is while walking, then say the cost while standing in the middle of the room. In Beck's version, after Tony says BARF, he's suddenly standing in the middle of the room as the laughter is dubbed in.

You can see that Tony still hadn’t recovered from all that has happened. You wanna know how? Tony used to just talk, not follow a script. But here he actually has a hologram telling him exactly what to say. I believe he still hasn’t recovered from Iron Man 3 and the first Avengers movie.

Nope, they use the quantum realm to go back in time and steal all 6 of the infinity stones and at the end of the movie when they wipe out thanos and his army they put back the infinity stones to where they belong.

It was beautiful that he had a second chance to say goodbye to his father.

There's something incredibly vulnerable about the young RDJ's, eyes.

This, THIS scene right here, is why I cried in "Endgame" when they left each other's presence in 1970. You just can't leave feelings on the table. A father and son, even in the most bizarre of ways, got to get those feelings off the table and say what they truly felt to and about one another that you could *SENSE* here but just not developed enough (Tony's immaturity as a young man; Howard's detachment due to his work immersion). Man its amazing how this Cinematic Universe did a great job of tying stuff together

Because of this thing the multiverse is happening now .

Strider 1 Trigger Probably couldn’t afford to get RDJ back for even one scene, unfortunately. But having a scene where Peter would either A) realize he just fucked up big time by helping fake-Tony or B) Having to fight off/ kill/ destroy holo-Tony would’ve put the movie on another level

Funny how mysterio remembers this scene incorrectly in Spider-Man. He remembers everyone be laughing at the BARF term when in reality they didn’t.

This scene is so sad because the fact that Tony's mother gave the foreshadowing that they knew what was going to happen to them and still went through with it. Imagine seeing your child the last time and walking to your own death, voluntarily. And then when Tony sees the footage how their deaths actually happen is just painful!

I love that comp of “try to remember”, and I love how the scene transitions using the first chord to set the mood

3:11-3:13 Did you notice that? As someone mentioned it , he already broken up with Pepper but he saw the digital screen mentioning her name, he didn't even burst out in tears but handled it a positive, cheerful way. He didn't even react negatively to the technical staff for that mistake.

Everyone talking about mysterio here but can we all admit that there is actual love behind Howard and Tony's relationship in this scene here.

Elsewhere Quentin Beck was there.

RDJ is like no other in this universe. He lives and breathes this character.

He was a super hero but a super villain to himself... What a fucken actor 😩💯🔥

I just love how in just a couple of minutes we get so much of how Tony's relationship with his parents was, Tony a sarcastic entitled young man that thinks knows everything, a father completely aware of the immaturity of his son and at the same time use to it for long enough to be passive aggressive about it, and a mother trying to be neutral and keep the peace in the house but knowing nothing will come from trying to force her husband and her son to get along, and finally the Tony that we know that always gets the last word no matter what position he has taken feels crushed when his father says "you know they say sarcasm is a metric... for potential if that's true then you'll be a great man some day I'll get the bags" questioning both his potential or if he'll ever amount to anything.
