The Lodge Card Club is a members-only social club in Round Rock, Texas (just north of Austin). With 24/7 cash games and 2+ tournaments per day, The Lodge is THE place to play poker in central Texas. The Lodge Live is streamed every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 3PM CT.
You never know what you might see on The Lodge Live stream. You might see Pocket Aces vs Pocket Kings. You may see the nut straight lose to a full house after the board pairs on the river. There's a good chance you will see loads of straddles (and double straddles, and triple straddles). Players go all-in blind or play poker hands after looking at just one card. That's just what poker is like in Texas!
The stream regularly features Lodge owners Brad Owen, Andrew Neeme, and Doug Polk. Players like Rampage, Mariano, and Igor Kurganov has also graced The Lodge Live felt. And who knows? One day The Lodge may even host players like Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, or similarly huge poker names.

Corey played really good except for the last hand. You can't bet the river there unless you are willing to call a raise. Also with T1000's comment "I'm trapping." followed by his bet sizing that makes zero sense it's a call here. Also Corey never should have slow played AK if he is not going to commit heads up when he pairs his hand on a dry board.

I mean the 6786 board is a check instead of a bet with 78 for so many reasons, if you are sure you are still ahead and you are not good enough to fold the river when a 5 comes, making it 5678 on the board and you think this older man will bluff you off your hand you should seriously reconsider if poker is something for you then bet the turn bigger or go all in and make him pay to outdraw you. For sure do not pay him off when he outdraws you because this makes his turn call or let’s call it turn investment way less expensive. When your odds are so slim, check because the odds are top small considering his bankroll. When you can fold the river to a scared card + a bet after you check or bluff shove the river you can make that play if you are good enough and use the right frequency. He even checked the river which is a mistake, terrible. Absolutely terrible. The AK hand was a clear call of the all-in but he suddenly believed the opponent had some kind of 2 pair, or a runner runner straight. I think the entire table knew to call but I understand when it’s your last money you decide to fold.

@@SPQR_14bro youre the one thinking completely wrong here. Yes he can have any 2, but why would he ever not bet for value on turn or river to build a pot?? After turn going x/x he would never ever check river with value, as it would go x/x again 90% of the time. And he knows he gets paid when betting as hes a splashy player, so when hitting hands hes always betting for value. Again, youre completely ignoring the actual action in the hand and just thinking about specific hands

The dude had freaking 52 in his hand. He could have literally any two cards. He could have Q4 and spiked two pair on the river. He could have 56 and spiked the straight. He could have 44 and spiked a set on the river. Anything is possible, not "just KQ" like you all keep saying.

@SPQR_14 he is not checking turn and river with any of those hands. He is an agro donkey. Any equity - even close to none - he bets. Donkeys are going to find a way to pay you.. sometimes they have it, but when there is very little going on up top, you just have to call. If the guy is that uncomfortable, he should leave.

But he should have just checked behind, for pot control. Also, the way he handles his chips when calling is like hearing nails on a chalkboard. Who puts chips across the line like that?

Would it be bad a play to shove all in with the 89 with the 678 board? I'm new at poker and thats what i would of done. Just wondering peoples thoughts. Even against a set or over pair you have many outs. Also with that sizing i fiqure you would get other draws to fold.

  • @ciaran2610

The reason you don't bet so big, is you're getting every hand to fold, except for the hands that beat you. If you go all in for that much, you get every hand that you dominate to fold, so you get no value. If you get called, you're most likely beat. You want to raise smaller to limit how many players are in the pot, but to also get worse hands to stick around. Often you don't have as many outs against a set as you might think. If you hit your full house, a set also hits a full house, often beating yours. Hope this helps.

Without the donkey call from the 7/4, the 9/8 would of probably stuck around. But with a 3Bet and call, you would be smart to assume you are very far behind and possibly drawing dead. It's hard to assume someone is playing so bad as to call with a 7/4 tho.

The last hand is hard to find a call purely based off a the fact its your entire bankroll but the line T1000 takes doesn't make any sense. Based of preflop action his range is pretty capped. Maybe he has Aces, Kings, Queens, or a few A,x. The line he took during the hand didn't match this hand at all though. He bets flop because it crushes his range, but if he had a massive hand like he tries to say on the river, why not bet on the turn and when the river first dropped? Corey is only calling the flop with a king pair, maybe just maybe a queen pair. This would make it easier to get more value out of a hand like a set or an overpair. His river bet speaks bluff. Idk this table demographic so maybe there was a tell I didn't know about that made corey fold but if were just looking at the action, this would be what I was thinking.
