This is a remake of a 1938 film called “Four Daughters” . It had a sequel called “Four Mothers.” I loved Young at Heart the first time I saw it as a teen and I still remember almost every scene, line and even what Doris is wearing in every scene. Oh, those white gloves!

James Shubert Only time will tell if some idiot tries to remake this classic. Won't be the first time some one screwed up a classic. Remember the remake of the Bishops Wife with Cary Grant and Loretta Young. How could they ruin such a classic, well they did.

I'm certain a remake these days couldn't compare. However, I just realized that this itself is a remake of 1938's "Four Daughters". The original was somewhat different...but the overall plot is basically the same. John Garfield and Priscilla Lane were the main characters. Both movies are good.

Frank Sinatra didn't play the piano, maybe a note or two, but he fakes it very well here! And I've always loved Doris's voice but hated that duck-tail hair style, maybe it was "in" back then, I don't know! And "pedal pushers" for $8.95? When was that, back when God was born? But thank goodness FS gained some weight in later life, but he swam in the ocean every day when young, which probably helped give him his great lung capacity and breath control! Good movie, I'd like to see all of it some time.

Early 1950s. I guess they don't - but you'd have to wonder what they'd do with themselves all day. That's a big house but with four women working on it, there'd be plenty of spare time! (ETA actually it's probably not that big. I guess it only has three bedrooms...)
