The TTR is a multi purpose bike. I lost the anchor on my fishing boat and purchased one of these as it was cheaper and heavier than a replacement. It's a little tough getting it over the side but it sets well and seems to be doing the job.

If you need something heavier I have a F250 diesel that should hold the boat in place. It’s a 4x4 so you can probably just drive it over the side. Be a lot easier than flipping the bike over.

I'm sure other TTR230 owners that have this bike wish that Yamaha would have provided a kick starter. Amazing amount of damage and issues for a "newer" bike. Previous owner(s) rode this one hard and issues developed and clearly didn't have the skills, patience, or tools to fix it properly. Always enjoy your skill set and self-learned knowledge in showing the rest of the viewing audience how to resolve the issues. Also, editing, and the time it takes to do all this is a full-time thing. Much appreciated. You have a lot going on now Joe besides just seeking out and fixing bikes. Congrats on your land acquisition and future plans! Cheers!

@@greatest_bumble_bee_dude me either. I rode mine hard. But, I always changed the oil every two to three rides, and cleaned the air filter. Lubed the chain, and cables the same frequency. Just regular maintenance. Drained the fuel in the winter, and a shot of oil in the cylinder when storing. Never ever had a failure, and the bikes had tons of life left when I sold them. Plus I always cleaned and detailed them after every single major ride. The key is maintenance, and don’t push them beyond their intended purpose.

I really enjoy watching you fix all these machines. One suggestion for you. When you removed the wire from the starter and checked for 12 V when pressing the button you got 12 V however you need to confirm that the wiring can carry current. Make youself a set of test lights using headlight sockets, tail light sockets, and side marker sockets. This way you can connect from that wire to ground and confirm that it can light a 9004 headlight. You could also voltage drop test the wire but the lights are simple and effective. Keep up the great work.

When I heard that clunk after you installed the new starter motor, I immediately knew what had happened. My partners ttr-230 had the exact same thing happen to her. We were riding together and her bike just seized up, took it apart and found the flywheel just like yours had snapped its bolts clean off. There was massive damage on the inner section from where the bolts had worn down the inner section. Luckily the local yamaha shop had one in stock. I'd never seen anything like it. It's only a 2016 model it hardly had many km's on it. Surprising how common these issues are becoming.

Your videos are amazing, lots of explanation and detail. You've definitely earned my subscription. One question: I just picked up a 2016 TTR 230 and took the carburetor apart to rejet it for the aftermarket exhaust the previous owner had put on. I didn't like how it was running, and don't want to open up the airbox, so I took everything apart again and put the original jets back in. When I did, I forgot to put the little white plastic washer back on the main jet. The washer is kind of cupped, looks almost like it doubles as a splash guard of some kind.🤦🏻‍♂️ It's all together and runs perfectly; should I take it apart again to put that little washer back in place?

Yamaha TTR230's are VERY good bikes. Low compression, air cooled, low maintenance torque monsters. Point them at a trail and they can haul your butt up and over anything in the way. Yes, they are heavy, but for trail riding that can be an advantage as well, keeps the bike planted and both wheels on the ground over rough, uneven terrain. The motors are simple and reliable and you would almost have to try to destroy them to get them to die. Enjoying the recent batch of Yamaha TTR content you have had on the channel lately. They are a fantastic line of motorcycles. (These are the exact opposites of today's prima donna $10k KTM's and Husky's with fuel injection and electronics everywhere - many of which do NOT have kick starters either folks.)

Im guessing the starter didn’t disengage and when it decided to grenade it sheared the one way bearing off the flywheel.

I would repair the carb! There is plenty of base at the broken point. Mill it flat, drill and tap the centre. Make a threaded post, screw it in, drill and profile as necessary.

He's too stupid to think like you bro .he patches everything possible.karma is gonna bite this young in the butt in the long run.if something is back firing you don't rev it up you find the problem and fix it not patch. If there's metal in tear it down clean it out you can't get that metal out by just an oil change He's a complete idiot to even think that fixing to problems oil change will fix anything in his mind

Sometimes a little tap tap taparoo on the starter frees the can't think of what they're called but they get stuck and frees them up and might have some life left
