We were still using a 60 as a regular tractor on the dairy farm until the early 90s. It’s a shame dad sold it.

Very nice. Brings back fond memories of when I was about 11 or 12 years old helping a neighbor hay and got to drive his john deere 60. What a thrill and what a tractor.

Grew up on a 1954 model 60. Great tractor. Dad replaced it with a 3020 in 1967.

I remember so well starting our old spoked wheel B.....open petcocks.....turn to level to the small gas tank.....give 'er some choke....turn the flywheel by hand until it fired.....play with the choke to get running smooth....close petcocks....DON'T grab plug instead of petcock unless you are practicing for the electric chair.....play with throttle to smooth out.....switch lever to go to "power fuel"......away you go.

The oldest running tractor we have is our john deere 60 my grandpa and his brother told my great grandfather it's time for him to quit farming and just live the easy life. Well my grandpa owned all the equipment and land at the time so my great grandfather took some of his personal savings and bought the 60 some land and implements so he could keep doing field work. Now we just have a underbelly mower attached to it and use it sometimes to mow around the farm.

Nice try there Farmer Bill. Back in those days it was just a tractor and there was no interest in doing any fancy paint jobs at the factory. If you got the Two Cylinder or Green Magizine you would learn facts about development, testing and manufacture of John Deere equipment.

Meh. They're made to be used at least once and a while. I don't believe in letting things sit. Also, not sure what he's saying about tractors rusting out down South, they seem to do fine to me. Lastly, my dad has that exact hydro cylinder, now I know where it came from. John Deere.
