My family has some 8mm film reels that definitely need to be digitized. You know that's not a bad quest to embark on this year. I've got some older family members that are well on there last leg and I also want to try and just record them discussing their lives. Thanks Pavel, this was an awesome inspiring video.

I digitize on my Mac straight from the deck or camera. Got all the VHS done and now working on the 8mm tapes. I have boxes full of tapes. 😮 Hope someone in the family watches them someday! 😅 Thanks for the video!

When I was a toddler video cameras were too expensive, and we never had any motion picture cameras. But we do have a load of photographs, slides and audio tape recordings. Sadly the tapes are a bit sticky now, but I'm working on capturing them to MP3s. I wouldn't trust the big box companies though. They've been known to do a bad job, refuse to transfer stuff, send you back someone else's media or even erase your tapes!

Awesome! if you capture them in mp3, then you can add some images from the past and make a video. Regarding the second part of your message - it is worth to use reliable service, since these cassetes are our privacy...

That can be challenging without a proper gear. Alternatively you can record your TV screen with your phone or camera.
