You Were ALL Right About DUNE

Комедия

This is one for the books, fellas and ladies. Pun intended. Today we're covering how I was so ignorant about this masterpiece, and how I have been born-again under the Lisan al-Gaib.

Dune takes place in 10ks AFTER GUILD. And Spacing guild was created also around 10k years from our time. So Paul’s story happens somewhere like 20k years from now

Just a quick fact. Dune takes place in the AG (After Guild) calendar, which was made in the 20th Millenia AD or 19000. Dune takes place about 27 thousand years in the future.

I watch Dune part 2 on the first day in theater on my country. It was Wednesday night 9PM til midnight after working as a corporate slave. The moment Dune part 2 credits roll, I was consumed. It's amazing the changes depicted from Paul onii chan to become the Lisan al Ghaib. THE Papa Muad'Dib. The one and only, SPICE DADDY

Technically, 2024 is the _24th_ year of the 21st Century. The 20th Century was 1901 to 2000. There was no “year 0,” so, all centuries and millennia start on years ending in “1.” The cultural gestalt just became obsessed with the number changing so much (1999 to 2000 is much more dramatic than 2000 to 2001), and decided 2000 was “the new millennium,” even though it was actually 2001. You can find footage of Al Franken wearing a t-shirt with “MMI” on it, jokingly arguing with ABC’s anchors on December 31st, 1999, that everyone is wrong. 😂 As for Dune, it’s very complicated. You can calculate how many “standard years” have passed since “the beginning of deep space exploration,” assumed to mean Pioneer 5, the first interplanetary space probe. If you make 1960 (Pioneer 5’s launch) the baseline, and use the info in the Appendices and the Dune Encyclopedia, 10,191 AG is 23,352 CE. ….But we don’t know for sure if “standard years” are Earth years. In fact, I’d bet they aren’t. They’d probably be the length of a local year on the Imperial capital, Kaitain? Or maybe even Salusa Secundus, since that was House Corrino’s first homeworld? ….Yeah, it’s complicated. Bottom-line, it’s MUCH further in the future than the 11th Millennium.

Great review man! Yeah totally agree with ya about Jared Leto! First thing I ever saw him in was the "Alexander" movie, and then "The Kill" music video not too long after that, which was inspired by "The Shining," (it's an excellent video, and the song itself of good too). It was a number of years before i realized that both the actor and vocalist were the same dude tho lol. The guy may be a whack-job but he's a phenomenal actor, from "Requiem for a Dream" to "Bladerunner 2049," along with being an amazing singer as well.

I can understand why someone who has no familiarity with the books or lore would prefer part 2. Part 1 sets up many of the conflicts that will ultimately pay off in the second. There's no scene in Part 1 as awe inspiring as Paul taking his first ride on shai hulud or the final battle with nukes going off while the fremen come in on giant sandworms to butcher Sarduakar by the thousands.
