Hey girl, can you do a video on naturally thin hair, I haven’t loc’d my hair yet and I’ve been considering it. However to achieve the size she has (pencil size) I would only be able to do about 15 locs as my hair strands are thin and my hair it self isn’t thick either.

Wait. People still saying locs unprofessional in the year of our Lord 2021? 😒. I've had my 4th (and last) set of locs for almost 3 years. I'm Licensed Clinical Social Worker and work for local government. I started my first set of locs 20 years ago and I've always had "professional" jobs. I even rock headwraps.... Never had an issue. People really need to get it together.. S/N... I remember growing up it was our own Caribbean people that sometimes had theeeee worst things to say abt locs...🤦🏾‍♀️smh!! Great job as always Yannie!! Never had an issue getting a job. Costume designer. Grew locs from 1987. I'm tall. They reached below my knees, I cut a foot and half from my length, and my locs grew back like it was possessed. I freed them after 28 years, my hair is always natural. New set of locs in place and I'm excited for this new journey. Bliss and Blessings to all. ❤

Thank you Yannie for sharing - my locs are thin and long ( just to my bum) & yes, they have popped. I’ve always loved my locs and yes, I’ve doubles and triplets too 🥰 All what u explain about pulling, tension in the locs.... that’s what the twisters have done over the years and they quick to style too much 😠 (I’m not calling them loctitians as they’re unable to educate their clients as you do) and it’s so sad as I couldn’t or didn’t even try to retwist myself, I’m a Business Support Officer, I had money and so I just kept rebooking over the years - softly killing my crown and filling their pockets.... anyway, this lockdown, I’ve done what you advised and left the new growth alone and really happy to say the Jamaican black castor oil agrees with my hair and my 17yr old whose never done my hair washed with me and retwisted and now I’m seeing some growth again where there was no hair growth whatsoever! It’s slow, steady growth and what I’ve learnt is ‘patience’ is key 🙏🏾 I really wish I could thicken all of mines but it’s too late however, I no longer put too much strain on my locs so, I hope with extra tlc, they’ll strengthen YOUR ADVICE - THANK YOU, I WISH WE WERE IN THE SAME COUNTRY I WOULD DEFINITELY BOOK AN APPT COS I KNOW MY HAIR NEEDS YANNIISM 😂 🤷🏾‍♀️ Love to you & Jimmy from the UK 🇬🇧

I am a Veterinary Technician and have been on my Loc Journey since 2002. There were a few years I also worked as a Teachers Assistant in Pre-K. With some of the kids my hair was a way to get them to embrace their new environment and gain their trust in me. Out of curiosity they would stare at my Locs, some would want to touch it some would not. I would remind them that is always ok to ask questions, that is a way to get to know the world and people around you!

I had a government contracting job with my locks where I present it every Monday in front of many people virtual and live orientation. And now I work in the health field as a clinical technician and I still have my locks. I am able to help care for the patients who have locks because others don’t know what to do with their hair. I help patients feel loved as I tend to their hair. I have a skill that no one else has at my job and that is the ability to re-twist locks. The patients feel so much better when their hair is done

I love this. One of the reasons I started my locs is because I want to break the stereotype that ppl spread about locs, besides the roots of locs... but I always hated people saying locs are dirty or someone with locs must be a thug or in some illegal stuff... even since i was a teenager. But I'm almost 2 months in and loving it. Kris McDred is the first one I heard talking about the same topic and that made me decide that I am getting them.

I have been following you for several weeks; a little over 1 month. I am on my second loc journey; the first was a mess. I understand now that using the beeswax and washing my hair everyday was probably the reason my locs were so hard. I am following your recommendation of just leaving my hair along. YEAH. Will update you. (I oil my scalp, hydrate with oil/water and of course drink lots of water.

I was a lose natural for over 10 years before I locked my hair 2 years ago. I have worked for 3 Fortune 500 companies during these times and the job I currently have is a Global Director role in Internal Audit. I interviewed for this job when I was 1 year locked. I’m also a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner. My hair has not hindered me. Thanks for highlighting this, so we can let our sisters know.
