You want an FRFR guitar or bass cab? We have lots! And they're not just FRFR - they're ACCURATE.

Barefaced Reality 112FR for guitar.
Big Baby 3 or Big Twin 3 for guitar (if you need massive output and/or lows) or bass.
Super Mini T or Super Compact T if you want almost BB3 output but smaller (at the cost of some accuracy).
Super Twin T if you want almost BT3 output but smaller (at the cost of some accuracy).

Thanks Alex! I just received my Reality 112 fr cab from you just before Christmas, and it looks amazing, and sounds amazing! I use a Neural DSP Quad Cortex through a Seymour Duncan power stage 200. And I can get the sound of different amps through different speakers and cabinet setups. Thanks for what you put into developing and manufacturing this incredible speaker cabinet - better than what I was looking for!
Great breakdown that makes sense to me, and is timely for me recently discovering your cabs.
Another excellent video. You are a great teacher!!
Very very intrigued!
Yes I love the info. I thought I would have to design my own. Now, if I could only do away with the high shipping.😁🤔👍👍✌️

If you put a price on your time and tools the shipping cost isn't much (and is less than adding distributor and dealer mark-ups). And if you figure in the R&D required to get this sound and performance, and the skills to produce them to this quality level, and then consider that over the lifespan of the cab (most people own Barefaced cabs for years and years) - well, compared to fancy guitars or pedals or tube amps then our cabs are a bargain for how much they improve your tone!
I just love the way that you affirm some of the big, fat, ideas that I have rattling about in my head. I have been thinking that accurate speakers merely want more skillful playing in order to sound good for producing guitar tones. Any way I can't tell very much from here because of the packing quilts surrounding the speakers and the layers of protection around my ears.

More revealing speakers force you to become a better player - it was a revelation for me on bass!
But what about guitarist/bassists who want to stay within the Kemper and have one stereo set of speakers for both purposes? Limiting the frequency range for the guitar appropriately should be provided by the IRs used, allowing closed and open cab emulation. AVD would be appreciated, tough. Switching to the bass, one would perhaps stand the cabs closely together as huge stereo spread is seldomly needed. AVD dispersion may be nice, though. Will BB or BT be able and neutral enough to cover both instruments? The Reality cab will probably not be enough for the bass case...

You can absolutely use any of our bass FRFR cabs for guitar FRFR. Just don't try to use our one guitar specific FRFR cab for bass at anything above quiet bedroom practising - it can't handle the lows a bass demands. It's impossible to tune an AVD low enough for bass guitar and have sufficient LF power handling in a sensible sized cab (and AVD behaviour is amazing with guitar but not great for most bass sounds), so if you want guitar AND bass FRFR from one cab then it's no AVD.
Thanks for the info Alex! I think for extended range guitars, the Big Baby would be preferable. Is there any downside to going with the Big Baby when I’m just using standard tuning 6 string guitar or would that be the best choice to cover all my needs? Thanks!
What a wonderful and simple explanation of everything that I could want to know! However, I am still left at a bit of a crossroads. Currently I form part of an ‘Emo’ band, and we mainly play in tunings such as Drop C, and at times even lower. I was thinking of buying the 112 Reality cab at first due to me having great interest in the AVD technology and how it “fills the room”, but now, due to the low tuning that I play with, I am having second thoughts. Is there a particular selection that you would recommend for a small band just starting out? Would the 112FRFR cab not be able to provide the power of a chugging guitar in Drop C? And would the Big Baby compete in any way with the frequencies of a bass? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Greetings from Madrid!

I don't see a problem using the Reality 112FR in drop C, it can move a lot more air than most 2x12" guitar cabs low down. Email for more detailed analysis!
Anytime for a bass player that's rocking a Low F#. That is 23.12 Hz and it's hard to find anything out here that does this.

The Big Twin 3 / Big Baby 3 are excellent for extended range basses. What do you use now?
Why doesn't reality 112FR also use 12XN speaker?
@BarefacedAudio
Жыл бұрын
Because the speaker we use in the Reality 112FR is more sensitive, sounds great for guitar FRFR and has a coax tweeter - and for almost all guitar sounds the huge power handling and output of the 12XN isn't beneficial so you're paying for a lot of performance you don't need.
Hey Alex, I'm currently running a BB3 for my bass (absolutely love it) with a quilter BassBlock 800, and I'm talking to my guitarist about potentially running a Reality 112FR. Will the BB3 be too loud, or will the Reality keep up fine?

Hopefully you both have volume knobs! (this is actually a serious answer 😉)

@@BarefacedAudio I'll take that as a yes 😂 he's looking for an amp too so we're just exploring options for him.
Can the 10CR bass cabs with tweeter be used as a guitar cab in this fashion? I guess the tekst "From hi-fi to old school" on the One10T refers to bass tone and not actual Hi-fi, but would it yield acceptable results with guitar, modeler and bass amp?

The 10CR-T cabs aren't as accurate as I'd want for modelling but others may be ok with it!

@@BarefacedAudio So you are saying there is a chance… Well got it, the SMT is the smalest cab recommended for someone playing both bass and guitar. Thanks!
So..... could you just use a couple of Big Baby cabs as either HiFi or PA? I mean, bloody loud parties, obvs
@BarefacedAudio

Yes - hi-fi they're rather overkill, PA they're great. My dual BB3 stack has standmounts (top-hats) in both so we've always got a PA system available.

@@BarefacedAudio Wow. Well. Yes. Makes sense. At home for rehearsing I go through a preamp with Cab Sim a pair of 4" studio monitors and it sounds great. Much better than a bass rig at very low levels.
What sort of amp would you suggest for these?

They're designed for amp profilers/modellers, like the Kemper, but are also optimised for acoustic instruments! We've recently done a soft launch of our guitar amp module: barefacedaudio.com/collections/avd-guitar-cabs/products/reality112fr?variant=47539630506264 Pair an active Reality with an amp modeller (HX Stomp, Strymon Iridium, Quad Cortex, to name a few) and you're golden!
