Making sure that bit at the back is tucked in or spend the day wriggling all over the place because it's all lumpy. 😅

Or...stay with me here...get a shorter jacket. I use a wheelchair. I also use a short jacket that I don't need to tuck under me.

Finding out which jackets work and which jackets don't has been hell for me lol thankfully I'm a hoodie all year round type of gal, zip ups I've found while unzipped just slowly untuck and then eventually go over my arm rests and then onto my wheels where they get stuck or eaten up lol

Good to know. It would be easy to let us non-disabled people (inoffensive term, I hope?) think that much of your life is like ours. You do the world a service showing us what it’s really like. Thanks!

I don't think the term non-disabled is offensive (but I'm just one person) , but you can also say abled or abled bodied, etc. I see those used a lot more

Put your hair in a ponytail or bun temporarily so it's not in the way while putting your coat on. Let it out when you're done. Or, just give it a quick twist and tuck it into your shirt until your coat is on. Most of that struggle was with your hair. 😂

One wheelchair user to another. Get a shorter jacket. All that wriggling to get it under you is ridiculous. Buy one that doesn't need to go under you. Hubby also doesn't need to arrange his hair, which isn't something you need to do because of the wheelchair. It might take a few seconds longer, but most of your effort is a fashion issue not a wheelchair issue.

Hair fair enough (that didn't actually take long in any case), but if Shaun's coat was longer it would have added basically no time to his putting on a coat time. The point is to show how much longer some everyday tasks can take to complete as a wheelchair user/how many adaptions need to be made that people who don't use one might not think about, that still applies even if Shaun happened to have a shorter coat here, since that probably wouldn't have made any difference to him (i.e. it is specifically related to the wheelchair not the coat) As a note, I disagree that it's ridiculous. It's fair enough if you choose to specifically get a shorter jacket because of this. Completely fine choice. But if someone else wants to wear one even though it takes more time and some wriggling to get on, that's not ridiculous, that's just them wearing clothes they like; clothes are an important part of our identity! And also can just look pretty. If Gem wants to wear a longer coat then she should. And if anyone chooses a shorter one specifically because they're a wheelchair user, that is an adaption they're making because of being one which is, again, part of the point of the video.
