I work at a Home Goods which is under the same company as TJ Maxx & Marshalls.; the amount of theft and fake returns that I've seen firsthand working there is ASTRONOMICAL. But our LP doesn't allow employees to say anything or else we get fired. And returns are literally a joke, even though the company policy is 30 days, you can still return it after without a receipt and USED (whatever item you buy) and we just give you store credit. The managers just damage it out and it gets thrown in the bin. I can type for DAYS the amount of ways you can literally steal from this company and get away with it. Corporate doesn't do anything! And if they don't do anything, I'm sure they are HEAVILY insured. Laws for theft are different in every state, but where I live they don't give a shit and the responsibility and danger always goes to the cashiers and lower management.

Had a friend who worked at the military exchange store (think a department store/CVS for people stuck on base). The higher the rank of the enlisted, the more likely their spouse was to steal. It was wild. One lady picked up these very expensive supplements and then she would return them the next day. She literally took out the expensive ones and then super carefully glued the lid shut over some super cheap supplements like magnesium. She did this 3 months in a row and the first one went through just fine. The second one they told her that they would not refund these again as she obviously didn't like them. In the 3rd month, my friend locked eyes with her and peeled the top off. This was supposed to be like 60 supplements and she had about 20 in there, they weren't even close to the real pill size and shape, let alone color. It tipped my friend off because the rattle was all wrong. This lady legit said, "No wonder they weren't working, somebody swapped them out!". But her story was they *never* were opened. They were brand new! My poor friend had to call the MPs (military police) on the Major's wife and ban them both from the store (you vouch for your spouse and if they steal, it's on you). The major was *pissed*. But she got off because they couldn't prove that she did it and it wasn't somebody else being shady. But they banned them both from the store. It was wild. If she had just paid a little more attention to the pill size or listened when they told her they wouldn't return them anymore she would probably still be living her best life stealing from the store. The amount they could prove she stole (3 months worth) was outrageous at about $500 for the lot of them. You were supposed to take between 1 and 3 and she took at least 3 a day. To be fair, by all accounts she looked 20 years younger.

I’m in the process of buying my first house myself (UK) and so much of this really resonated for me. The response to my questions to lawyers and advisors has pretty much been shock that I have the audacity to ask, or being told that I’m ‘overthinking’. So frustrating when simply asking sensible questions to make sure I don’t get caught out. The whole industry is frustrating as hell in my opinion! Hope all the stress settles for you soon though! ❤

I’m not sure how realistic this is for everyone, but if I buy a product not from the company itself, I like to keep my original’s empty to compare when I get the new one. I try to leave a tiny bit of product in the empty too, just so I can also compare textures and colors as well. I’ve caught so many counterfeits that way. I stopped buying from Amazon and Ebay because it was slim to none that I found the actual product. I got maybe ONE out of 20 products that were real. If you don’t own the real product already, you could take the new one to a Sephora and Ulta then compare to the testers there. This may seem like a lot of work, but these things are going on your skin and getting near your eyes and lips! You’re worth the time it takes to do these steps to protect yourself.

Lipstick, no... But vodka, ummmmm, I'd venture to say booze is one of the few things aside from food that ppl who DO need it, need as a matter of life or death at times. As someone who works with addicts, I've heard of ppl doing far worse than shoplifting for a fix, a drink, or a substance their body is screaming for. I get your point, but I definitely disagree and feel that alcahol is very much a necessity for some people, unfortunately.

I'm glad y'all are talking about the counterfeit makeup thing. I've constantly seen on Amazon reviews, people saying that the product they got looks/ feels different than the ones they buy in store but I figured it hasn't happened to me (that I know of) and well it is cheaper. Now that I know about the rat feces, i'd rather play it safe and buy in store🤮. The scary thing is, I've also seen people say this about vitamins and food products which I also buy on there. Nothing is safe anymore 😭. The Sephora stories are wild, I'm horrified but also very entertained. Can't wait for next weeks episode!!

I have a story for you. I was in Ulta and my daughter was a toddler and in her stroller. The associates kept following me around like I was shoplifting. But there was a woman in the store who was going to all the displays I had just been at, actually shoplifting and they left her alone. Meanwhile, I'm telling my daughter not to touch this, don't pick that up etc. It was embarrassing to say the least. The other woman must have stolen hundreds of dollars of stuff and just walked out. It was humiliating and I was there to purchase stuff. It was warm out, so all I had was the baby bag in the bottom of the stroller with my purse, not a bunch of blankets or any of that(moms u know what i mean). Nothing but an Ulta shopping bag in my hands. They were so focused on me, they didn't pay any attention to the actual shoplifter. I used to work in retail, so I didn't give them any shit about it, but seriously, 3 associates following me and none even noticing what was actually happening. Give me a break.

Yeah my next door neighbor passed away and nobody knew for like 2 weeks, and for months and months I'd see the indoor and outdoor lights come on and off randomly. They weren't on a timer, and the outdoor light wasn't a sensor light, it was a light on their porch, and the outdoor sensor light is in a different area than the light I'd see go on and off. When the house sold and the new neighbors moved in I wanted to tell them, but I didn't want to look crazy😂😂

Last year at this time my husband and I were about to buy my grandpas house. It came on the market and it has been on since he passed in 2010. So big deal and always wanted to live there and the backyard is amazing!!! Walked in after we had put the offer in and they had Joanna Gaines the shit out it! But they hadn’t done shit to anything else. I added it up and there was at minimum 100k worth of structural work that needed to be fixed. The electrical alone would have been 20-30K to begin with. It is aluminum. The house was built in 1960. It hasn’t been replaced since! So we pulled out. There was no way we could pay what they wanted and be able to live there because of all the stuff that I know hasn’t been fixed at all! So I hear ya on the house stuff! The realtor for the seller was not happy that I knew so much! Our realtor was our friend and neighbor and he knew what a big deal it was. But he also agreed with the the cost and what needed to be fixed. So maybe if it comes up again 🤷🏼‍♀️38:37

Sorry had to comment. The inspector for us to buy my grandpas house…ya I don’t the qualifications they really had. Didn’t say anything about all the things that needed fixing and things that would absolutely need to be done. Small example. There is a crack in the garage door. That crack was made in 2009 by my grandpa. I was there. It is still there. Not fixed! Nothing said by inspector. The roof needs to be replaced. Again nothing said by him. The hvac needed to be replaced. There is a water heater that is now stuck in the basement because they closed off the room and didn’t remove it but it needs to be removed. Like how is that ok? The gutters needed to be replaced. I could go on. I lived with him for 6 months while my house was being built. Plus I grew up always being there! He lived 10 mins away. I knew it all! Yet none of that was disclosed or found or whatever by the inspector. The fact he didn’t say anything about the wiring really got me! That is not safe!!! My husband is a firefighter and does inspections and pointed it out! Sorry I’m fired up now! But had I not grown up there…holy crap! We would have screwed over!!! So yes I agree I feel for people that don’t have the support system needed for such a big purchase! I don’t think I could sleep if I were a realtor and didn’t disclose info. Or an inspector that didn’t really known anything or care about my job! Boggles my mind! Sorry for the rant! But if I hadn’t known. Seriously would have been screwed! 40:28

I literally had the same Kylie lip kit issue only it was a person on facebook marketplace who had listed it as an unwanted Christmas present. A soon as I got the box it looked off and my suspicion was confirmed by that same chemical smell. 🙃

Here is one point to consider when buying a house. You NEED to have financial wiggle room when you buy a house. Owning a house is a never ending money pit. You will never have a house without expenses. The craziest things happen & you should have financial room. If you can’t afford an extra 50k-100k for example, buying a house is not for you. Make sure you find a great agent. They will help you figure out as much as you can reasonably buy. My brother is a high end realtor in Minneapolis, MN and time and again, people think since they have been approved for X, they can buy for that amount- NOT TRUE. I am so glad you got your dream home!!! Buying ANY high dollar amount should be taught in school. You want to believe everybody is honest, but everybody wants to make a buck & will take the cheap way out.❤

I once had a girl try to return an actual housecoat from Target to get the refund for a 1k formal dress at Lord & Taylor. I just looked at her and said, "Are you serious?" I think she went to every women's clothing counter and finally realized it wasn't gonna fly.

qWhen you guys started talking about ppl returning products that were fakes it reminded me of when I bought the Haus Labs foundation (online) and I bought the wrong shade. I reached out to customer service to exchange it for the correct one and they told me once they received it and tested it, they'd send me my replacement. I had no idea what they meant by test it.... test it for what? 😂 when they told me that ppl would dump out their foundation and send in a different one in their bottle, I was flabbergasted! Who in the hell would do some shady sh!t like that!? I couldn't believe it! Ppl are disgusting 🫣 the potato story 🥔 had me laughing so hard.

I look forward to seeing you each week and have learnt so much. I have really mature skin, (mid 60s), and you have taught me so much. My game changes have been using setting powder and setting spray, and slugging. I have been doing this nightly for a couple of weeks and my skin looks better than it did 10 years ago. The fact that you both have so much knowledge and are kind enough to share it in such a kind and fun way is amazing. I really hope that everything falls into place with your new home. Think of it as an adventure. It will be as wonderful as you are. Love you both and will watch this again tomorrow ❤️
