    Very interesting. While the "do not raise your finger while drinking tea" is quite well known, I hadn't realized I had been holding the cup wrong.

    Thank you for this, I will try to resist lifting my little finger! May I ask the etiquette for holding a mug of tea/coffee? Even though the mug is often an informal item, it is quite often that you will be offered a mug when visiting friends or family.

    So interesting, I have to wonder why that was the "correct" way to hold a teacup. The Chinese teacup handling is very intuitive but the English one not so much because it isn't most people's instinctual grasp. Anyone know how this came to be?
