Action button is my most used feature of the Ultra. Shortcut for HomeKit garage door opener, absolutely brilliant when returning home on my motorcycle to not have to fish keys out of a pocket for the remote, or take a glove off to tap the screen shortcut as I do on my series 7. Just reach under my cuff with my thumb and press.

After 7 months of owning it I still love it. Been on some great adventures & it looks brand new.

Absolutely love my Apple Watch ultra. Coming from a blue collar man working in the mines and as a welder, I found this to be one of the best versions. I’ve worn it every day and the watch piece itself has to be one of the most durable apple product. It’s gone to hell and back and long lasting battery makes it a 11/10 on my scale

I liked a lot of the things that you shared. I still use my AW3, so durability and longetivity is really important for me. So as a future buyer, the video convinced me even more for ultra 2. On the other hand, I was shocked when you said you wouldn't wait for the 2nd gen for "slight upgrades" and get it now, because there is NO WAY you don't know about the rumors of improvements that are upcoming when you are doing this as a job. Even if nothing else changes, new one is rumored to get an actual new chip with a different nanometer architecture, unlike the current one that has a 3 year old chip since AW6 that just says "S8" on it. Which means that you just suggested your viewers to get a watch with 3 year old chip in it, that will get renewed within a month and probably more or less with the same price point. It will be much better in performance and longetivity. Even if you don't care about these, 1-1.5 month is so close to the new release that people who buy now will actually lose money/value on watch right away when the new one launches. The only reason someone should not wait for AW Ultra 2 at this point and time is that if they get a bargain on the Ultra 1, and i mean a REAL bargain.

Great points. I didn't know about the chip upgrade or that the current Ultra has an old one from AW6. Being about 4 weeks from the Ultra 2 I'm going to wait for it.

Think most people think the old chip is plenty fast enough, however maybe the new operating system will slow things down, so the upgraded chip becomes more important. Even with a new chip it's never MUCH better, it's always incremental minor changes. The new Ultra 2 has just been released and it's not much better than the Ultra 1, probably a good time to buy a brand new Ultra 1 at a reduced price.

I bought one a few weeks ago, reason : “looks and feel”. And i am quite happy with the larger version, as in general i like big watches. It fits my style. But at my age, i haven’t dived in 15 years and my last real hike was like 10 years ago. I do a lot of cycling tough, and the bigger screen and easier controls are nice. But its really expensive here in Europe (€1000) but i got a good deal on it.

I bought mine about a month ago - coming from an AP4 it was a huge upgrade. However, when I bought it I didn't think the AWU2 would be releasing this year - and though I love my watch I would really like one with even better battery life. I tend to get an easy 1.5-2 days out of mine, though I'm probably more active than most and on days I do both a run and workout (and utilizing cellular on the run) I would probably charge it up while in the shower.

Still glad to hear you’re doing exactly what I plan on doing when I buy one of these at some point. iPhone in a drawer. Watch + AirPods all the time.

I have an Apple Watch 7 and it’s great but ended up buying a Garmin fenix 7 pro instead of the ultra. So far, I find myself wearing the Garmin 90% of the time. Battery life is like 3 weeks, built in led flashlight, maps and navigation, recommended workouts, llinked to Spotify and Strava. No need for apps. It’s all there. Of course it doesn’t have as many smart features of AW but it looks like a watch and works great at the things that matter most. I don’t want a mini iPhone attached to my wrist anymore. To each their own though!

I got the watch since day one and i love a lot of stuff starting with the design looks different from all Apple Watches, the weight it’s perfect, the battery it’s crazy good. I recommend it 💯

I love the design and am tempted, but the price for something that will be obsolete in a few years is hard to justify, compared with the regular Apple Watch. People spend thousands on brands like Omega, but they’ll last for decades.

Upgraded to one from a series 7 a month ago ONLY because i got a $150 discount to upgrade. Easily worth $650 over $400 for a regular series model but not really worth it at $800 for the longer battery and SLIGHTLY bigger screen BUT not as comfortable to wear like the series 7 was imo

Kind of that way with all tech though - It could last you for years without an issue. My mother in law still walks, works out etc. with an Apple Watch S2 so they can last quite a while

Thank you for the video. I have a question I hope you or someone can shed some light on. I have the Ultra watch and I often go out without my phone. When I am out and about the watch loses connection to cellular often (in areas with good cell connection) and I have to go into setting, mobile services to get it to re connect. When I have looked online I have found others that have reported this is issue. Has anyone else had this issue with the Ultra when using it as stand alone and does anyone know if the new Ultra has this issue or does it connect straight away out and about and keeps its cell connection? Any advice would be appreciated

I've a PVC transparent case on my AWU & I actually dig the look more than without!

What is the band you use and size?

I love everything about AWU, the rugged design is the main reason I picked it up. I would say the edges are a bit too sharp and hurt when you accidentally bump or graze someone with it.

I recently purchased the ultra 2 and I love it!!!!!! I upgrade from the SE model!

Brought my Apple watch Ultra at launch last year and it’s still on 100% battery health and is scratch free. If you own a s5 or below definitely worth the upgrade. Mine lasts 4 days without power saving mode and close to 6 with it. It typically uses about 1% per hour with everyday use.

Big roadblock is the cost. I bought one as an alternative to my Fenix and found the Ultra couldn’t cut the mustard. Aside from that I appreciate the battery life as a daily driver (it has other issues) but I feel it needs more life. If you can get past the $$$, it is not bad. Personally, unless the battery can get to a week I will skip it going forward.

Apples problem is they weren't able to get past the fact that adventure watches aren't full fledged "smart" watches. They refused to compromise by taking out any of the active features that eat up battery. So, it's a rugged Apple Watch that you will need to bring a power bank along with in order to adventure. Personally that's not an issue for me as I bring a 20,000 mah pack with me when I go backpacking anyway and I enjoy being able to keep my phone powered off and stream music from my watch.

@@chuck7415 if I was packing yes. I tend to like to do minimal gear 2+ day hikes. I find my Fenix is a dependable osom device compared to the Ultra. In many cases I don't need a full fledged smart watch for my activities. For now I kept the Ultra as my daily which it does well. Wonder what we will see first - an Ultra with a week plus battery life or a Garmin with more smart watch features.

As a Mountaineer, this watch is a gimmick-I wouldn’t trust it on adventures or expeditions. Let alone extreme weather or actual treks. But I enjoy owning one. This watch is for the city and metropolitan areas.

I love it. But I’m 5”3 and 114lbs and 5.5 inch wrist. It’s not always comfy it’s super heavy for me and the sensor isn’t comfy. But I’m trying to get use to it.

I have an Watch Ultra since October 2022 and I can’t be happier with this particular watch. It was the Watch I was dreaming about as the other versons are too slick and too fragile for my life. I have it with two Ocean Band midnight and yellow. Those bands are great and the yellow adds some vibes to the Watch Ultra!

I feel like I’ll get the next one that comes out this September I was waiting for a few things. That still aren’t gonna be in it like the blood oxygen for diabetes or whatever but I’d like to see what else they do for the next one in September.

Acquire GPS would be very useful for me when it comes to Find My (sharing with my family) and Swarm. I still like Swarm (when its “working” on the Apple Watch). Swarm/Foursquare needs to fix that. It’s making me think they’ll go out of business like Loopt did.

yes its worth it!!!! I have had Fit Bit, Garmin, and Galaxy, and I only love my ultra I sold every other watch but my garmin 965 and I only use it when I go hunting in the delta. but my ultra is still always on my other wrist I wear my 965 by Garmin Forerunner and my ultra most all the time. but I still use the ultra way more!

I loved the Apple Watch Ultra but it was alittle too heavy on my wrist.

Hallo, my brand new Apple Watch Ultra 2 makes cracking sounds when I make calls with the speaker volume at Max. Audio is distorted only during normal or FaceTime calls. The problem does not occur when recording or playing sounds from the speakers. It's never been in the water, I haven't even washed my hands while wearing it. It may be a software issue because the Apple Watch Ultra (1) had the same problem and it was solved with the watchOS 9.0.1 update. Apple then had the following note in said update: «This update includes improvements and bug fixes for your Apple Watch Ultra. Audio could be distorted during phone calls using speakers.» I hope that the problem will be solved again through a new update and that it is not a hardware problem. Finally I should note that until recently I had the Apple Watch Ultra (1) and it had no problems related to what I mention.

Great review. I haven’t had an Apple Watch since they were first introduced. Despite having several Apple products, I would still not buy another one, especially at this price.

I do have a Ultra…and…I enjoy the larger size of the watch…but…I wish it was a bit larger…like…52mm…like my Invicta watches…sadly…I don’t wear them like I wear my Apple watches…because…I’m addicted to the health information it provides…I do see them out in the wild…like…at the gym, pool, and the beach…the depth feature is one of my favorite features…because…the water temperature is nice…when in the pool or the hot-tube…

I see a lot of middle aged tradesmen wearing the ultra which really makes sense - if your work like is rough as guts you want a watch that can keep up. My youngest brother is afraid to wear his SE to work half the time.

Upgraded from the 5 to the ultra 2, and I don't regret it. The battery is the show killer. Simply charging it while im in the shower keeps it exactly where it needs to be e ery single day. The 5 definitely needed an overnight charge. So worth it.

i only have 3 complains about ultra, first is. the colour i want black or dark green light colours for me suck, second complain is i got s7 under a year ago and it is a waste to buy it so early but at the same time my s7 is so beat it it is full of scraches even some deep scraches and all i did was hit the door with it because im so big and most doors are small in the same regard i do belive the bigger size will fit my big wraist and hand i can use 13 pro max with easy one handed with extra weight on it also since i use accesories, 45mm is still small for my warist and i do hate the rounded design i only got s7 because of colour to match my outfit and iphone 13 pro max alpine green with sequoia green matchup, and last complain is my use with watch, all i do with it is use it for sleep tracking, answer calls and use flashlight, so even if i do get ultra i most likely will do the same even if battery life lasts longer one feature i do love about watch is i can deny calls on iphone i can not i can put it to sleep but it is still a pain in the ass maybe im not using some feature that helps in that regard, but im 100% getting an ultra im just waiting for options, i use rugged bands allready because i love the look of them, leather link sequoia green and alpine loop green i have for my s7 45mm green, but if colour is getting good ill get it asap. i just want black so i can buy link bracelet space black for the ultra.

I’ve bought the series 3 and 5 before this, durability and Battery life were what I looked forward too the most but the added size made it perfect for me and I use mine everyday. I can definitely see it lasting through a few more generations for me.

Hey I have been using series 6 regularly. I am thinking to upgrade to Apple ultra. Does it feel heavy after using older series watches. Or it feels okay as the previous ones for every day use?

T-Mobile had a promotion offer for Apple Watches of $200 off? I got the Ultra, paid it off ($799) but will be getting $200 back in the form of $8.38 each month for the next 2 years. Since I plan on being a customer anyway, it will be worth it for all the reasons you put forward. When I first heard Apple's presentation I have to admit, thought it was overkill. However, after using it for almost 2 months, it has become my favorite Apple product with the 13Mini and iPad 6 Mini a very close 2nd and 3rd. I like the durability, larger brighter display. The speakers are better. I find myself leaving the 13 Mini home more often. Battery anxiety is a thing of the past. I had cataract surgery last year and traded being near sighted for far sighted. The larger screen means I can read it without readers! 😁. I discovered an app that allows KZread videos to play. I don’t use it a lot but it’s cool to watch a video on my wrist and without AirPods! I still keep a case and film protector on the screen. As for the Ultra 2, who cares. WatchOS 10 Public Beta is running just fine. I like it!

I’m loving my Apple Watch Ultra. Just picked mine up, a week ago, Sunday. Battery life is amazing!! Well over 2 days.

I love my Apple Watch Ultra. Finally what I thought an Apple Watch should be - love the flat, industrial design, larger size and especially the battery life. Looks great on my wrist. Also really appreciate the action button, it has a cool orange color, and I have it set to a timer that I use almost daily when cooking or making coffee. Incredibly useful for me.

If Ultra 2 comes out with a camera built in. That'd put an end to the iPhone in my opinion, or at least I can hold off on updating every 2 to 3 years.
