19 REAL LIFE Ways I Use My Apple Watch Ultra

Ғылым және технология

The Apple Watch Ultra is a very hyped product and it can be hard to know how useful it might be in real life. The usefulness of the Apple Watch (not just the Ultra) is really a product of lots of small conveniences that add up through the day.
In this video I detail 19 real life daily uses I've found for the Apple Watch.
Interestingly this applies to all Apple Watches - for me the ruggedness and battery life are why I went for the ultra - not least so the battery can survive when using its cellular connection without my phone.
Like smart phones and mobile phones before them I think there is an element of until you’ve had one you don’t really know what you’re missing.
Of course it’s possible to live a wonderful and fulfilled life without an Apple Watch. But the same could be said about a huge number of modern gadgets and gizmos.
It’s just that good technology offers us an incredible boost to daily convenience and if we’re intentional enough about it we can use that to get more out of the time we have in our days.

I scoffed at the idea of an Apple Watch for years. To be honest, I felt I didn't need another screen calling for my attention all the time. I decided to get the SE2 a couple months ago. Didn't realize what I was missing. The idea that it actually REDUCES screen time on other devices is 100% true. Many tasks can be accomplished without being sucked into an addictive, time wasting phone session. I also knew the health features would help me focus more on that part of my life. The tech I have mostly tells me what I need to do on a daily basis, and closing the health rings has become a passion of mine. I feel years being added to my life instead of being taken away with terrible health habits. The tip about raising to talk to Siri without pressing any buttons was one I wasn't aware of. That's awesome! Great video and thanks for the info.

I love it for the fitness stuff, it’s great to be running and see what cardio zone you are in, and measuring other health stuff. Using it to find my phone is great, it also tells me if I left something behind (like my keys with an AirTag or my iPad). I’m really happy I got it. I would recommend it to anyone who can comfortably afford it. The longer you have it the more useful it becomes as you discover it’s features and get used to using them

An underrated feature is “unlock with apple watch” if you have a Mac. If you do a lot of work where it requires you to use your laptop in a way that keeps it idle constantly, having your watch on automatically unlocks the laptop vs having to bring your finger up to touchID or type your password in every time.

I have a version 4 Apple Watch, upgraded the software to the latest and to my surprise can do 99% if not all of What You Have mentioned. BUT, I do not have the larger screen,

Absolutely - the value proposition with most Apple Watches is fairly similar. Battery life and toughness are really the only justifications for the Ultra. Which is not insignificant of course.

Great video! Thank you! I would be very interested in knowing which app you are using for your Tesla? Also, it is odd to me that you have yours "turned around".....I believe Apple made the watch for the crown to face your hand and not your wrist....wondering if you find particular utility in having it the other way?

“Watch for tesla”. I flipped it over to stop the crown clicking in when doing press ups. Cheers!

I don’t tend to think about it. Just chuck it on a charger when it gets low. Doesn’t seem to happen very often!

Is the workout watch face only for the Ultra? I can’t find it in my Series 8.

There are quite a few faces that use the health rings as the basis - I then just added a few complications to make it a face that I use in that focus state.

Helpful video for a first watch user like me 👍🏼 I have the Watch ultra, if anyone can tell me how to lock the watch after starting the outdoor workout app that will really help me out? I have had two false readings as I have switched off the app accidentally while out walking. Thanks.

Cheers! In the workout app there is an option to lock the screen, so start the workout then swipe left and tap lock. It’s a water drop icon so you might think it’s only for swimming etc but it can be used to lock the screen in any situation.

Recently switched from android to the Apple echo system, using t 14 pm with the ultra. Definitely seeing a lot more convenience and usability. Super convinced by this video that it was a worth while choice. Since I’m new to t Apple echo system, would you have a video actually explaining how I cud actually get about doing those things, meaning actually exploring how to…step by step.. thank u

Apple has a pretty comprehensive support page on 'how to' to help people either set up or delve deeper into how to customise the watch to your liking/lifestyle, here: support.apple.com/en-au/guide/watch-ultra/apd0443fb403/watchos

I have a question . If I have a small wrist and seen many videos of the apple watch ultra and the alpine loop scratching the case of the watch. Should I get the band in a large size?

I think the risk with getting a longer strap is is might be too long to actually close then. Mine routinely hits the case when I fully loosen it - no marks on the case from that at all yet but I'm also not too worried about a bit of texture developing on this - I think it would look rugged.
