    The street indeed will never forget. Where the truth always resides. Remember seeing him play secondary school games in Africa. You just knew then you witnessed something unique that stood above the rest of the players. Hecommanded the respect of all the city streets, and their respective football stars.

    lol, he's still a huge presence in African media, doing top punditry for any major football competition and also getting sports-related endorsements left and right. He won the Olympic Gold medal for Nigeria, he will never ever be forgotten.

    Good times. Campo was another one. Back to the glory days soon eh boys 🐘🐘 I met Jay Jay a few times when I was younger and part of a youth group thing in town (I'm from Bolton) and he was a real gent, how he is in this interview is how he was with everyone.

    I've watched this guy live for many a years as a wanderers fan .The way he'd just entice players towards him just to make them look stupid was unreal. Never watched any player manipulate a ball the way he did. Have u seen his goal against Oliver kahn in Germany in the 90s.

    @@marcogarofalo6343 as a Newcastle fan I am still pissed we sacked him but Ashely wanted him to get us UEFA Cup instantly. Yes in 2007 Newcastle we not the same team was they were in 2004 but I mean come on we have literally played in the UEFA Cup 2004-2005 and 2006-2007. We at the time had kind of replaced Leeds in the sense of a big club failing to achieve but still a big club. He even said why he left Bolton, he was 3rd in the table in the winter of 2006 but the board wouldn't spend money to get top 4 so he left

    First time I watched Jay jay play was world cup 1998 against Spain ...I was 13, After that game I went straight to check Nigeria's next game which was against Bulgaria and trust me man never disappointed till he retired .

    George Weah,Drogba,Eto'o etc. Jay Jay was very very skilled but in terms of performance, continuity,stats and trophys was nowhere near close to the real Big Boys

If those players you just mentioned there played in the club like Bolton Wonderers I’m sure you already know the answer...Business has forcefully blinded us to believe that a best player is the one who only scored many goals, won “ballon d’or”, most popular which is due to media preferences, etc. and forget the true purpose of football.     The way this guy destroyed the zim players back in 2006 was phenomenal...he was such a joy to watch...the commentator was so overwhelmed with his brilliance and was full of praise for legendary dribbler but sadly was fired from the position..... up to this day we never saw him anywhere near commentary team again ...charles mabika was his name

    I'm not sure if he had gone to one of the big clubs we would have gotten to see the best of him. I think Bolton and the premier League at that time was perfect for him, he played with freedom and a smile on his face and it came out in his football. I feel at a big club that would have been stifled for structure and we would never have got to enjoy his genius quite as much. But who knows..

Middle class Nigerians from the era JJ was a youth could afford to send their kids abroad to play in foreign leagues from very young like John Fashanu. JJ was a struggler like most NGR footballers, kicking anything to be used as a football when there was none.

    @@wolfswinkel8906 Your point is ridiculous. That a Nigerian family is middle class does NOT mean they send their kids abroad at the drop of a hat, or because they're good in football. Most are right there in Nigeria. Plus you need to learn how teams acquire players. You don't just ''send your kid abroad to play in foreign leagues'' without a team specifically requesting his services.

    Remember seeing him play secondary school games in Africa. Way way back. You just knew then you witnessed something unique that stood above the rest of the players. (He scored on the day, an amazing goal too) He commanded respects of the street and the best streetballers from his own area and the whole city. The rest (out of Africa) then became history, JJ

    Jay Jay played 2 years for Fenerbahce, when he was 23-25 years old in his prime, he was the best talent with Ronaldinho at the time, then Fenerbahce sold him to PSG for $19m in 1998 !. He would easily cost at least £100m plus if he was around now.

    If I heard correctly he said "" Anywhere I find myself I try to do my best I try to earn my wages so I'm glad to do that here " unless I misheard him, this is the exact mentality that ever single player should have and especially those earning 300k a week at big clubs. Leave your heart out damnit. The least they can do is give it all and show that they earn the money they get.

    The class, the calm way of speaking and addressing a trick question, the way his voice is always humble even tough he´s probably better than half of the over hyped premier league players today, shows the difference in mentality between yesterday´s and today´s instagram players.

    This man is an absolute class. The way he talks, the way he dresses, the classy style of his and the smart answers to questions like him being at Madrid. And he’s humble, also knows how to drop defenders on the field aswell. Probably my fav person for interviews and one of my fav interview along with Alisson one where he scored and cried while talking…
