You said it. I think he wrote all of it, except whatever they changed (like "chartreuse eyes" to "sightless eyes") and if they needed to come up with a song or two they could have done that, but not the album in any kind of time; I mean, one month after he died they began recording. Bon wrote this - nothing since the album bears ANY resemblance to the songs on Back In Black, esp. a gem like this one.

No doubt! At least it’s a good idea of what it would have sounded like had Bon lived to sing _his_ lyrics. [Edit] I believe Angus is now in possession of the demos that Bon did sing on. They were _always_ prepared by the time the even got to the rehearsal studio, let alone the recording studio. They always made time to record new ideas. Even while touring. That three man writing team of Malcolm, Angus and Bon were constantly coming up with new songs and ideas.

@@pringles4312then why did Brian’s lyrics get progressively worse after this album? A talented writer grows, gets better and perfects his craft. If Brian write You Shook Me All Night Long alone, he would still be writing the lyrics to this very day. Especially since Mal is no longer with us. There is no doubt that Mal wrote a lot of the lyrics for the finished BIB that we all know. He had no choice since Bon wasn’t there to make the usual edits that Mal would request of Bon. But one of the most eye opening things is the fact that Bon’s estate to this very day gets yearly _songwriting_ royalties from Back In Black. AC/DC would never in a million years hand out royalties if Bon didn’t have _any_ input into the songs on Back In Black. Furthermore, Bon’s own family told (more like slipped up) in a 2005 interview, conducted by Bon’s close friend and former Valentines co-lead vocalist, Vince Lovegrove, for the West Australian newspaper and told Vince all of this! Bon’s own mother said he was working on the lyrics the last time she saw him Christmas of 1979. She even said he told her the name of the album was going to be Back In Black. Angus Young in an interview with Night Flight in 1983 said that the title of the album comes from how at the time they were always flat broke and admitted it was “a financial thing”. So the title is not a tribute to Bon. Listen to the lyrics. It’s a song about a guy finally coming into money, which they were about to at the time with finally having success with Highway To Hell and how things were looking up for this next album that was going to _really_ put them in the big leagues. Bon’s friends, family and the Young brothers (by slipping up in many interviews) have all admitted Bon wrote anywhere from “some” to “a lot” of the songs. No tin hat here. I’ve just done my research and I suggest you do the same. But at the same time, I get it. We _love_ AC/DC and we don’t want to think they’re anything but angels. Perfectly nice, down to earth guys. We don’t want that image shattered. It doesn’t shatter their image to me. They are tough, shrewd and very smart businessmen. Mal in particular was. They had to do what they had to do to save the band and make sure Brian was accepted by the fans. Bon’s irresponsible behavior could have derailed everything they had been working literally nonstop for for the last 6 years at that point. Luckily they found a powerhouse of a lead vocalist in Brian Johnson and were able to overcome a tragedy that would have, and did, end most bands. I don’t blame them for passing any of Bon’s work off as Brian’s. I just wish at some point Brian and the Youngs would have come clean. Fans would have understood. There was a time where the whole lyric issue wasn’t talked about. That was mainly in the 1980s and early 90s. They could have come clean, and I personally believe the Youngs were going to, around 1997 when they released the Bonfire box set tribute to Bon. It’s a well known rumor for _decades_ now in the music business, and that many insiders believe, that the Young family have recordings of Bon singing those songs from BIB. Hell, according to Angus himself Bon played drums on the demos for it. According to ex-drummer Simon Wright Angus played him a demo of Bon playing drums on _the title track._ No matter what though, you cannot argue with Bon’s own family.

@@UserUli Different contexts. With Bon, the band was thought to be done after losing their frontman, so they had to make the new one look as good and important as possible in order to legitimise him and avoid making him look second rate or like an imposter or whatever. By the time Malcolm died, the band was immortalised and practically impervious to commercial decline, and he was never the primary draw (unlike Angus, Bon and Brian) so being honest about his contributions and having them performed by the main draws would theoretically boost business for the band.

Honestly believe that Bon's lyrics were used for many songs on the album, including this one so fun to get an idea of what it would have sounded like. This album sounds a lot like their previous albums lyrically and in song structure where as the next album and those following go in a whole different direction. If you listen to Hells Bells it sounds a lot like their future material and it's the one song Brian has vivid memories of writing as they did it while in rehearsals ready for the studio, I believe that's the only song he was likely involved in, Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution was written by the Young brothers who would carry on in this lyrical style. Brian Johnson would not have song credits for very long after apparently writing a killer album like Back In Black, it made no sense that he just became the singer after the next album and had little to do with lyrics going forward. We know that Bon had been working on songs with Angus & Malcolm before he died although they claim they never made any songs in the session and were just trying out ideas, Bon had been telling everybody their next album would be the one that finally breaks America and he was right. If he had no idea what the album was going to be it's kind of a random claim lol.

Its off, dont get me wrong I love Bon. Brian's range was what made this song. Bon's range was too low for the upper register of this peice.

Because Bon actually sang with his chest voice. Brian does a strange head voice thing where he’s basically using a raspy falsetto to extend his range artificially.

AC/DC were infinitely better with Bon Scott. Back in Black is a great album but it contains maybe 25% of their A material. Brian Johnson was like Sammy Hagar to Van Halen. Good but missing that je ne ces qua.

Enough already anyone in music bands ,producers, engineers, Label executive they all know that the record label is not going to book studio time for recording with a band if the band does not have lyrics melodies ready for recording. For AcDc say Bon didn't have lyrics melodies is b.s.

I never thought of this before - but after Highway to Hell came out Bon started actually making good money. Back in Black possibly means back in credit.... or out of debt.... out of the red. Bon was always singing about having no money and owing other people. It makes sense that this could be his song title.

I still prefer Brian Johnson. It is interesting to hear what the song might have sounded like with Bon Scott singing, and it might have done very well. That being said, I still prefer Brian Johnson's vocals on the song and I prefer to hear Bon Scott's vocals on any song or album pre - Back In Black.

We all know who wrote most of the songs from Back in Black.... 🤟🔥 Mr. Bad Boy Boogie himself. Bon put the stage for Brian. After Back in Black we all know AC ⚡ DC was never the same for a reason. Brian is amazing he sure thunderstruck the stage and he did save AC⚡DC but Bon Scott was the heart and soul of AC🔥DC and the GOAT.
