Yes I too remember that far back, had to look it up I was shocked at how far back that was, now I really feel old, but she stood her ground then and she will stand her ground now and knowing that her trainer was a trans woman and has been for almost half a century she has every right to weigh in on this issue as well. That's exactly what it is and that's what I found so uncomfortable when I notice how young people act online. You're not embracing who you are by identifying as trans or non binary , you are likely a lesbian running away from who are actually, the same thing goes for mtf trans people. Some people call it a homophobic movement and I see their point at times.

Martina Navratilova is the greatest female tennis player of all time. A supreme athlete and fierce competitor. She is also the LGB community's staunchest ally. God bless her.

Even with taking testosterone pills, a woman would not be able to win a race. It was shown that a woman athlete had taken testosterone before competing and had won her race and was later disqualified. But she still ran slower than the last man (same category) that year. Even with testosterone, women cannot win but would still be among the last ones. Is it fair that when men switch to the women category they win all the time and get the medals and scholarships but if women switch to the men’s category there is not a chance that they’ll win.

Piers, thank you for standing up for us. I was and high school and college gymnast who competed at an elite level and would not have achieved the accomplishments I did if I had to compete with biological males.

I thought if athletes take drugs to alter and change their natural selves was illegal in professional sports? How can it be so accurately measured to create a truly level playing field!? It’s just NOT fair.

One easy point to make IMO is that female born athletes at puberty start their monthly periods cycles. These can affect their performances even if medically suppressed. When transgender males start to have monthly periods as well, along with the other cyclic changes that female born athletes experience, then IMO there is some levelling out. However as Martina says, male puberty does give unfair advantages, and I would add that female puberty leads to unfair disadvantage for women being made to compete against transgender athletes. From a retired UK nurse and midwife. 🤰

But it seems to me that in the U.S., at least, where there are so many people of a particular religious persuasion who feel besieged and therefore become resistant to discussion about important policies that have nothing to do with religion, the casual use of that word or the J-word as a cuss word exacerbates the alienation. That's exactly what it is, mass psychosis, I sometimes look up gender non binary TikTok videos and scroll through the comments. You can tell by their pics and the way they type these are sometimes twelve year olds and they are saying things like "I'm trying to find the right gender label for me, help! Martina have high cheek bones and to be honest, she looked older than her age when she was in her prime…which of course means 30 plus years later she still look the same.

I was born 51 years ago but if I "identified" as a 4 year old, does that mean I get free tickets on airplanes? I was born a human but if I "identify" as a dragon, does that mean I can breathe fire? I was born a man, but if I "identify" as a woman, does than mean my Y chromosome magically disappears? You would expect this type of idea from a child, but adults should know better. This idea has been suggested many times, the problem is that the trans community dont want a separate category for trans they want to be included in mens sports and womens sports because they keep saying their being marginalised. The reality is that trans people will never biologically be a complete man or women. Thats a fact and people can be mad all they want but its reality.

Men are physically stronger than women the majority of time, I am a strong woman who played ball with the boys before puberty hit, I was better than most of the boys to be honest until we reached puberty and then it was over, they where faster and stronger over the course of one summer. Because.. a) they demand validation, and denying them participation in the wrong sport doesn't do that. b) How much demand would there be for it? How many would bother watching? There will always be fundamentalists who will never see abortion as morally defensible but the vast majority of Americans will agree with laws which would allow abortion before the 12-15 week mark. Data also supports the fact that the majority would support carveouts for incest or rape and even perhaps for certain genetic fetal disease although that is an even thornier issue for many. There are many highly functional and valuable individuals with Downs Syndrome for example and the notion of knee jerk termination for such pregnancies is uncomfortable for many. I don’t think you will find many people outside of these deeply blue cities who find much agreement with those who defend abortion to the point of birth. The idea is abhorrent and this wild swing on the left to that highly radical position has perhaps led to the rise of many pro life organizations and much more powerful voices in them. There are not many countries in the developed world which allow anything even close to such a thing, most European countries fall between the 12-15 week window, even China prohibits abortion after 24 weeks.

Martina played jimmy connors in her prime. Jimmy was 40 just past his prime. Jimmy won handily. Martina put up a good fight though. Jimmy had some other handicaps that I don’t remember. Look at what Serena herself agreed with John McEnroe when he said she’d be ranked about 500 in the mens bracket. Bobby Riggs threw the match against Billie Jean King. I say all this because even the best tennis female tennis players in the world don’t want to or can’t compete against biological males.
