All IndyCar races on FOX, all Indy NXT races on FS1, IMS Productions will control FOX. So far, things do look good. But it’s all about execution! (I wasn’t expecting a lot of changes for 2025 in terms of scheduling, but it’s stupid that Thermal Club is a points race and Gateway is a Sunday race instead of Saturday night) EDIT: not a fan that the season is gonna last 5 months, just like 2014…

No one controls FOX. Rupert Murdoch and his family control everything under their banner and they will find a way to skew and ruin this. They will lobby for more races, which will over-saturate the market, increase costs- and that will be passed on to the ticket buyers and consumers in general. Being the biggest does not mean you offer the Best. FOX destroyed NASCAR; made it a sh!t show. Gonna happen to IndyCar in their hands too. This is a terrible move in the wrong direction for the long term of IndyCar.

How I wish SPEED Channel would be a thing again. Almost everything on the single station at one point was great back in the 2000's. NASCAR, CART/ChampCar, ALMS, Le Mans, Rolex Grand Am Series, plus other content like The SPEED Report, Windtunnel etc. all promoting all different forms of racing. Having IndyCar on FOX next year has that possible hope of them being the "Motorsports Authority" once again. However, I know streaming services is the way of the future in Sports broadcasting. Its making me wonder what the situation is for IMSA's broadcasting rights are with NBC currently? It feels like NBC lost a lot of steam after ending NBCSN a few years ago.

Peacock definitely wasn't optimum streaming, and streaming is not the path to growth necessarily ...but streaming is faaaaantastic for people who already know about the sport. No need to worry about setting a DVR for the right channel or hoping that the DVR follows long enough if there is a delay. Streaming also guarantees that the network or local affiliate can't trump coverage of the start or finish because of other properties or priorities on the channel. Hopefully they find a way to figure this out without sacrificing anything that's good about this deal. ...still wish Indycar would just invest in streaming on their own by way of a series-specific app like F1 has. To your point in the previous video, they already own the production company that does most of the work... and it's potentially some extra income for the series.

And eventually people will get tired of needing multiple services for all the content they desire. On top of needing an ISP which averages $100-$150 a month. NFL fans now need 7 different services for all the NFL coverage. Plus services for non NFL stuff like Disney+ and MAX. I don't know anyone who is willing to pay for 9 different streaming services and an ISP on top of it all. I mean piracy is already starting to make a comeback due to rate hikes and needing of multiple different services. I've even heard people say they're going back to physical media. Cable, satellite and antenna tv will always be around. In fact, according to federal law, all major networks such as ABC, CBS, FOX all have to transmit free over the air signals that can be received by an antenna.

The whole schedule being on network TV is a good thing. As for the schedule itself, I wish they could finally get away from that six-month off-season. The series wraps up in August, while every other major racing series goes on another two or three months. That's been one of the problems over the past I-don't-remember-how-many years. Yes, the NFL is the elephant in the room, but if your season is already over, the casual fan is gonna forget about you. Then you have to start from scratch again the next year. If there's anything positive about that, maybe Fox will promote the IndyCar series throughout the NFL season. But I REALLY wish the series would run until at least the middle of October.

And, when all the DTS-driven new racing fans in America sample IndyCar and realize, race-over-race, it's a far better, more competitive and compelling series, a new generation of fans will be created. And no, we're not going to pay for the "all the sports channels" service that might happen some day, if it survives litigation attacks. And no, I live in rental property so I won't have an antenna on my roof. And "network TV" comes from about 60 miles away -- no indoor antenna will do a decent job with that, either. With Indycar heading to FOX, it does ponder what's going to happen with NBC going into the future. They'll have spare budget to use on their other prospects. One that comes to mind is IMSA because while not having been announced yet, it's likely NBC will renew their contract with IMSA after this season ends. If they renew, NBC could put more races on network TV instead of cable. Also, will there be more promotion of the races as there hardly is any promotion for IMSA races ATM. However, this does bring a big question: Is NBC going to turn their IMSA coverage into hyping up the NASCAR coverage when the NBC portion of the cup series starts in August next year? Plus, what's going to happen with the current on air talent as most of the staff (Pit reporters and commentators) aren't experts in sports car racing? Yes, NBC streams the races on peacock and uses imsa radio for some of the support series, but they geoblock all of the Pilot Challenge and WeatherTech races imsa live streams on their KZread channel. Plus, they don't show practice and only show qualifying outside of the races. Big questions need to be addressed should NBC renew their IMSA TV deal

On the topic of the month of May, realistically in the modern day I don't think it's plausible to have two whole weeks of time trials unfortunately. Indy GP exists as a good excuse to stay at the track for most of the month. But if we're doing the on track idea for the entire month, what about instead of moving the Indy GP up to Week 1, how about they race at Lucas Oil? Stays close to the track, and sorta makes it where you have a build up to the race, where you got a short track, a road course, then the big superspeedway, while keeping it all in Speedway, Indiana. That seems like a modern solution to justify the entire month of May being at Indy to me.

This is great for Indycar, but my concern is that after 2025 FOX may try to push more and more races onto FS1 or maybe even FS2. I don't have cable/satellite and I'm never buying it again. I'm also not going to pay $50+ a month to watch Indycar on a paywalled streaming service. I hope that one day (if the TV deal becomes less favorable) Indycar would consider moving away from traditional TV networks and possibly stream the races live. Maybe for free with Ads and have a paywalled Ad-free service. Streaming races for free would not only bring in a lot more viewership, but also a lot more younger viewers. Increased viewership and a younger demographic would be great for helping the teams secure sponsors.

I do think this is the window for Indycar to compete with Nascar and F1.

As a european fan, i hate the short season and actually like this new deal, because maybe Eurosport can get one too! The short season is kind of a bummer, seeing that most series here run until early-mid october like the DTM, but no huge gaps which is good! (SBK has a 2 month gap this year, imagine that) Gateway during the day is great, so i'll be watching it live.

While I'm happy that all the races are on main Fox, and lights are on FS1, Fox is the only streaming service I don't have, but I at least have them on cable.
