@@utoresa5193 it got a lot of damage but it kept going, in movies like genesis are pure bullshit because they kill it with a sniper rifle wich makes no sence, a terminator is tougher than a armored truck and even that a sniper can not penetrate thru, so it didn't make any sense that they killed it with a sniper rifle, even blow its head off with it, the T 1000 death is kinda debatable, if we talk about the acid of movies (the one that can even melt humans and other stuff) then it would actually kill it, but the T 1000 wouldn't actually kept walking towards sarah, he could have easely hide or run away to not get totally killed, they just made that to get rid of it, the movies that made terminators unbeatable towards the end were to T1 to T3 (T3 almost), after that they were all easy kills like if it was a game

@SugarDaddy1963 well, I don't think so about 0.50 cal. Yes, it's have very good armor piercing capabilities (well, for man-carried weapon), but it's not enough to make some damage just penetrating the metal. You know, you can't destroy a tank just making a little hole in it's body. You need also damage something inside. That guy was right, terminators in films after T2 became not machines of death, but rather some MMA restlers and super easy to kill. It's just stupid. In T1 and T2 terminators was unstoppable killing machines, they takes a hundreds of bullets, fire, physical damage and even explosions, but still "alive" and trying to complete their missions. In T3, T4, T5 and T6 terminators became a stupid dolls, that can be totally destroyed by baseball bat. They didn't scare even childrens.

Kyle Reese, officially the greatest hero in movie history! One man sent back in time naked into an age he was not familiar with, to fight off an unstoppable, relentless, nearly indestructible machine just to save a woman he has never seen but of whom he only had a photo. He left behind everyone and everything he has ever known in order to protect the woman he never knew even at the cost of his life. Meanwhile he became the father of the leader of the human resistance and he managed to protect the mother and made her strong enough so she could be the mother the resistance will need. This guy...basically won the war himself. Mission fuckin accomplished, soldier!

I like how this scene ties into what Kyle Reese said. "It can't be bargained with, can't be reasoned with, doesn't feel pity, remorse or fear, and it will not stop -- EVER -- until you are dead." Being shot didn't stop it, getting hit with cars didn't stop it, being consumed in flames didn't stop it, and even being cut in half by a bomb it refuses to stop until its mission is accomplished. This is the kind of single minded determination that made the Terminator so scary.

Often in film when there's a climactic scene the characters seem 'aware' that this is the climax of the plot and that once it's over the threat has ended, but not here. She sits there, still shaking with terror, watching the arm intently for signs of life. not wanting to even touch it to move it off of her. if anyone has read the novel of the terminator, it gives so much detail when the terminator is caught in the hydraulic press. it describes the pressure it felt as unrelenting, comparing it to the hand of God. it's mind tried to focus all it's remaining strength in the arm and hand to kill sarah, and, in it's last moments, it saw the look on Sarah's face change from fear to victory as it's red eye finally went out for good. that's some awesome writing!

One thing I really like here is that they didn't try to put in any cheap tension by having an "oh no, it's grabbed her foot... but she's managed to kick it away and escape, phew!" which just lowers the stakes because you've now established that it grabbing hold of you isn't an automatic death sentence. Instead they kept the focus on how narrow her lead on it was, to really drive home that one mistake is all it's going to take and if it manages to grab her, she's finished, which they'd made clear from the very first scene where the unarmed Terminator is able to just PUSH its hand through the punk's chest because the machine is JUST THAT DAMN STRONG. It makes the stakes so much higher than when you've got the super-strong robot/alien/supervillain/whatever that somehow fails to finish a fight against the supposedly ordinary human with one hit, or superhero/martial-arts movies where everyone's constantly getting punched so none of the blows have any real significance. This is more like a good lightsabre fight; any strike that lands will end the fight instantly, so you'd better be quick.

just re-watched this movie last night. it still holds up so hard. the non-stop suspense feeling is so powerful in this film, it's really astounding how it builds the terminator up to be this unstoppable force right until the last moments. and it just goes to show that nothing beats practical effects. the stop motion did look a bit janky for sure, but these up close torso shots of the terminator are straight up terrifying now as they were when i first saw this in the early 90s.

If the third party (other government department) come to claim the parts, do u trust them to keep them all for research purpose? U are so naive.

This ending really brings into perspective Sarah's speech to John in T2 in the auto garage, when she has the T-800's CPU on the tool chest...why she was SO serious about destroying it "You DON'T know what it's like to try to kill one of these things...and if something goes wrong, this could be our ONLY chance..." 1984's The Terminator did what VERY precious few scifi films do...introduce something seemingly unstoppable with little to NO actual weaknesses...and a relentless one at that!! Best Terminator era by far

It had weaknesses, but they were quite impossible to exploit. It could be trusted to continue chasing Sarah until she is killed by it or it is destroyed and do so with utmost directness. That is why it assaulted police station: fastest way to achieve mission objective. It also did accumulate damage over the film.

I saw Alien, Poltergeist, Evil Dead, The Thing, Exorcist, Halloween, Jaws and many more over the 2 year period, on VHS. The tape was rented in a shiny black case, from a local bar, and returned within 48 hours on my bike. You never knew what horrors were in that case. No trailers, no spoilers, no phones, no internet. Just you, your imagination, and a piece of tape in a black box. Terrifying.

This video definitely sparks some old memories here. When I was a kid, I remember that my mom had gotten me Terminator 2: Judgement Day on VHS during a family trip to Universal Studios in Orlando FL. All I grew up with, up until the age of 14 was Terminator 2, not even knowing the existence of the first film until that age. Of course, keep in mind I hadn't seen a lot of "1" movies, so to speak until my early to late teens. Films such as Short Circuit 2, Terminator 2, etc. made up a good bit of my childhood, as I was always fascinated with robots. But back to this. I remember as a kid, getting the Techno Punch Terminator action figure by Kenner, and thinking that it was so cool, always calling it the "Skeleton Robot". I was obsessed with how cool it looked, even having one of those cheap school folders that had the image of the Endoskeleton on it. As a teen, I had first seen Terminator 2, and I figured that it was like the Star Wars movies, in the sense that it continued with a story that had yet to be told (to me anyways), and of course with Arnold playing the role of the good guy, combined with the fact that he had a child co-star, I never thought anything of it, not knowing his original role in the first film. Then, about a couple of months after getting the VHS for T2, I remember going to a video store with mom and seeing the cassette for The Terminator out on display. So I asked the person running the store if it was the one that preceded T2 and they said "Yeah.". So of course, I begged mom to rent it for me, since I was still young at the time. And I can remember coming home with the tape, all excited to see just how that it would play out. Then, as soon as I popped the tape into the VCR, it became a totally different story. Seeing Arnold on-screen as the villain, and the overall dark nature of the movie when compared against Terminator 2 had me literally in fear and on the edge of my seat. I can remember seeing the scene where the Terminator removes his damaged eye and thinking to myself "Wow.", not knowing that this scene would eventually come up. I felt sheer terror watching this movie, from start to finish, as if I myself was in the role of Sarah Connor. And I recall being in complete shock and awe at the fact that the Endoskeleton rose from the fire of the truck, wondering if Sarah and Kyle would find a way to kill this frightening robot, and feeling relieved to know that once it was destroyed under the hydraulic press, that that was the end of it all. Good movie, loved the way that it played out, as it keeps it going from start to finish. Just when you think it can't get even more scary than it already had, the movie pulls out another surprise, left and right. Well done!
