@@cryogeneric When the film was exposed onto the 35mm film the size of the image area that was recorded was larger than what you would have seen released into cinemas. This is because the image was cropped at the top and bottom to create a 2.35 aspect ratio for cinema release. The 2.35 aspect ratio was the intention of the director and cinematographer and personally i prefer to stick to the intended final image.

I liked T3. And to be fair on The Terminator's case in that movie, it was resisting the virus affecting its physical functions. And the T-X was trying to prod information from Katerine Brewster. Although the scenario afterwards where The T-850 managed to be so accurate that he wouldn't kill Brewster in the process of ramming the T-X is where suspension of disbelief was stretching just about too far.

Arnold Schwarzenegger gets dinged all the time for his supposedly subpar acting but his performance in this film, (all of the little bits of his performance, such as: the way he scans the environment every time he enters a new space, or the way his head whips back during the scene where he's killed Sarah's roomate and Sarah calls to leave a message on the answering machine) completely sells the concept of the Terminator as an antagonist.

I feel like Arnold’s acting is so underrated. He perfectly captured the idea of a robot trying to conceal himself as a human. On the outside and in certain movements, you’d think he was just a human. But the way he scans around, and especially when he speaks, because the viewer sees him so much, you really realize this thing is far from human. Also, did Bill Paxton’s character actually die in the beginning? Looks to me like he was just thrown into the metal gate. But then again a robot did that to him so the force probably did kill him.
@AchtungBaby77

What made the T-800 and T-1000 the best was their element of mystery, shock, and horror. You knew they were sinister but the audience initially had NO IDEA what they were or what they were capable of. The visual effects were new and never seen before. The audience's reaction (myself included) was like "WHAT THE FUCK!!!?? OH SHIT!!!" I didn't know whether to root for the heroes or the VILLIANS because they were all badass and COOL. The other movies failed because they lacked these elements.
@Chico50445
4 жыл бұрын
@@duprez2 A big problem with the newer movies is that they completely missed the elements you listed of mystery and horror. Instead they only try to make them as overpowered as possible for bigger explosions, and then the characters survive ridiculous shit and the plot armor is just too much. Granted Terminator 2 had a little bit of plot armor with the whole "Call to John" scene, seriously, the T100 has been killing people it mimicks, and he could do the same with Sarah to call to John. But it is only one little nitpicky moment. The first Terminator never hard a moment where I felt that Sarah had plot armor. The first 2 movies are not the most action packed movies, I mean they were very action packed, but it knew how to be restraint enough so that we still feel the vulnerability of our main characters. The characters in the other sequels aren't vulnerable, they survive ridiculous shit, like driving a car through a semi truck's load, and they just had to duck while the car destroys itself(if you recall, that actually happened in T3)

God bless Mortal Kombat Annihilation. It is hot garbage on par with The Room and Love on a Leash.
From the very beginning we see the Terminator trying to act as 'human' as its program allows it. I guess it has some kind of 2-step programming switch: 1. It stays calm and does its best to blend in among humans. As long as people gives it what it commands/desires, there's no need for violence. 2. If people are unable to or refuses, or like here, directly goes against the Terminator's commands, it's PSYCHO TIME! Just like the clerk in the store ("You can't do that") is gunned down immidiately. Or the cop who refused to let him see Sarah in the station.
The way the terminator goes over at looks at Los Angeles, it’s a subtle way of foreshadowing the unbelievable death and destruction the killing machine would soon bring to the city.

Stuff like this is why this movie is so great. The tension and atmosphere. It was far from being without flaws. The tire marks on paxton's face for example. Yet the menacing presence, the atmosphere and tension made this movie such classic.

Hello Dhirshan. I have no reason to lie to you or waste time in saying this. You need to stop what you are doing and turn to Christ TODAY! ETERNITY in hell is a terrifying thought isnt it? You still have time. Do it now. You are not promised tomorrow. PLEASE listen to these words as they are the truth

Sounds more like Bill Clinton...
When you see some stars of the 80's with a good body like Eastwood or Norris, you might think "If I train hard I can have a body like this". But you see Arnold at 1:10 "Okay, him ? No way I can't match that."

The whole scene from the beginning until the death of Brian Thomson should have been in Genysis.
oh god, imagine watch it in the cinema. I wish I had a chance to see it. Also with Predator, Alien, Rambo.

The Terminator build was to be capable to destroy things first and foremost. The robotic skeleton is pretty big and has armored plates so they need to be bodybuilders to blend in but also have all the extra human tidbits

Nice night for a walk.
Remember the 1. time I watched this as a kid, I didn't even know a human could have a body like that. Amazing masterpiece of a movie.
This movie still looks badass till today
When you realize this movie was filmed largely without permits via guerilla filmmaking, the fact they had Arnold running around dong in the wind at the Griffith Observatory is somehow more hilarious.
The naked man looked over the night view of the city is very iconic
This was the most realistic punching through someone scene ever. Ever! Nothing has replicated this, not in video games, not in anime, cartoon, tv series or another movie. This is what it would look like if you could punch through someone.
Remaster version is so beautiful to watch.
Cudowna scena. Milion razy ją oglądałem! No, może setki :)
Straight for the kill. No throwing people around or beating them giving them the change to escape.
Thank gosh these films were shot in 35mm film versus digital. These details are amazing!
Just imagine how fucking scary is to face an evil-crazy-murderous bodybuilder with bones made of steel. The stuff of nightmares. That's the beauty of this movie.

I miss Arnold in his prime he has spoiled us with so many awesome action movies but the same goes for Stallone etc all my heroes I watched growing up are soon in the casket and that's sad to think about.
this scene is so clear that i never noticed the fly buzzing around bills head at 2:13
*"I need your clothes, your boots and"* ... Wait, wrong Terminator film.
The scariest thing in the world when I saw the movie, was the paranoia that either my family was robots, or a random nudest would chokehold me to death.
2:00 increase your contrast 😅
I like at the far edge of this scene, the camera man shadows appearers 1:43
They can get more pumped up stars with steroids, they can put more CGI into movies, but this was art in its own core of the genre... formidable, scary, perfect...

This is how Arnold arrived in America. He did not have money or personal possessions of value. He only had his impressive physique to show for. He did not speak much English either. But it is so inspiring how he turned from this to a successful moviestar, businessman, and politician.
