This might be the best lesson I’ve ever watched. This unlocked something I never realized until today.

If only you had been my teacher way back in 70s. I gave up in my teenage years due to lack of progress. 40 years later I wanted to be able to play to a level where I could enjoy the instrument. Your videos are a breath of fresh air ❤
Thanks for making this easy to comprehend video about how to easily utilize the major pentatonic in a real world major progression jam session. Better than the usual “learn all these different pentatonic box patterns in all of these different positions, then you can splice them all together to move up and down the neck” videos I’ve seen. You’ve shown a good starting point to build from and eventually expand on. I’ll share your channel brother 👍
Someone wise once told me, “never trust a man in a visor”. I am here to tell you…… you can trust this man and this great lesson, explained in the perfect way…. I would be leery to trust his taste in sports teams though. Thanks for awesome lessons ✨🙏🏻✨

I would like to say I’m a cubs fan but my sister moved to New York and got me the visor at a game. I maintain my humble roots
Dangerous advice. Actually I gave up on playing solo after 50 years scale struggle. Now I played 2 hours, couldn't stop! All you need is to find the root not and off you go.
Are you kidding me!? This is so helpful thank you!
This lesson is amazing. I've always had trouble with learning scale shapes and this just makes everything easier. I also love that you include examples. Thank you so much!
Excellent perspective Sean. this makes pentatonic major much more accessible and applicable mentally. a great way to blend in riffs with chord/rhythm concepts. thanks for the tips!
My request was fulfilled! Thanks so much for this lesson, Sean. 😀 🙏
Crystal clear maj. pent. instruction, Sean. Thank you!
Thanks for the correct way to play the pentatonic scale lesson!!! Very helpful.
Wow! Such a simple awesome lesson explaining the connections. Thank you!
I have gone through a lot of guitar channels to learn things, and I have come to appreciate yours the most. You give usable tips in a concise easy to follow way. Thanks again, as this isn't my first "thank you" message.

100% adding this to my Guitar Lessons playlist. My guitar teacher and I are going over a G blues thing right now -- this will blow him away at my next lesson when I can vamp over his backing track. 🙂
Sean this is one great concept. You rock thanks

That is so helpful, thanks SD........kind of did blow my mind, I'll admit it
Really appreciate your work, Sean.
Wow. So clear. Thanks!
Excellent observation! 👏👏👏 I think that a lot of us have been playing it like this without really paying attention to what we're doing 🤭 This breaks it down very nicely and helps you conceptualize it around the neck. Thank you!

This is how my guitar instructor taught me how to play the pentatonic scale a lifetime ago and it made me so comfortable moving around exploring the neck and finding notes to improvise with.
Major pentatonic unlocked!
I can’t believe this 😮 This is great! Thx!
Nice! Thank you for this lesson!

This connects notes and patterns to the key so much better than memorizing the five CAGED shapes. So much better.
Great lesson!
Key&Scale = TONIC, Chord&Arp = ROOT 😊 Don’t know why all Americans use this different or in the wrong way. Slight scratch for your super educational stuff Sean 😅

I never noticed this before you pointed it out, so it must not have been confusing for me. Now I can’t stop noticing!
Dude, nice lesson!
Great way to teach the pentatonic scale in practical and simple ways to not sound like you’re playing up and down a scale. Loved how it connects to the E minor scale to add a new voicing. I’ll just assume you have Elixir strings on there.
I’m just excited because this is the first of Sean’s lessons where he says “you’re doing it wrong” and I WASN’T. :)
Very well done. Thank you!

Well that was interesting. I'd noticed already how chord progressions share and add note but was never able to see the pattern. Sweet!
Actually, that “weird” Bb progression sounds great! Thanks for posting.

I have been playing acoustic guitar forever. I know a ton of chords, I can travis pick, go up the neck with barre chords or triads, etc. Someone would ask me to take a lead and it's like I'm holding a foreign object I'd never seen before. I knew there had to be something to connect chords to playing lead and that CAGED wasn't it. This is it. Thank you. I can't wait to try it out.

Great lesson. I'm tempted to say something about my girlfriend telling me I've been doing it wrong this whole time but this is a family channel so I'll stick with great lesson.

Cheering for the Yankees is like going to a casino and rooting for the house to win.
A minor chord and its relative major chord have the same pentatonic scale pattern except the root notes are different relative to the chord (and like 3 frets apart) ? So pattern you start with (to make My Girl ?), is that one of the 5 pentatonic positions (position 3) ? or something else ? TIA for clearing this up. Great Lesson
Plethora?
I just found out that you are not supposed to swallow Penta-Tonic either!

Play like Clapton now❤
I am very new to guitar and newer to music theory. Sean says at approx 3:45 the major chords are I IV and V, but other places I read say the major key chords are I III and V. Is this something commonly switched out? Maybe in his other videos he's explained this as well, I've not watched his full library?
@seandaniel23

It's definitely ALWAYS 1 4 and 5. You can for sure use the 3 chord as a major in certain situations and it works, but if you just use the notes inside of the key, the 1 4 and 5 chords are your major ones.
this is wanna tell you: i leans great things , so good

I am enjoying this lesson and then I got beef.....so like this sennheiser sutffs, it annoyed me at first, then you explained why they are cool, especially those fucking headphones. if I was a millionaire I would have bought those. so. dude I love your lesson and never in my life did I think I would encourage Wayne's world advertising like hey man Dorito's eat em....but I dig your style for knowledge, and not just throwing things out there that aren't tested by you. I need those headphones wanna know why becuase my room sucks for recording. but it's all in good fun and time. hey Sean, peace and Love
Next how and when to change from Major to Minor Pentatonic
Dude. This is not only so much easier than trying to memorize pentatonic positions on the fly, it's illuminating. It's like I've been bitch slapped with a huge helping of OF COURSE YOU IDIOT but in a good way. Thank you sir.

Thanks for this! Takes things we knew and shows a different way to see it that really leads toward mastery. KZread sure is an interesting place full of fun teachers and things to learn. Turns out this video is showing the same thing but is a totally different style. So fun to have both. kzread.info/dash/bejne/jIx92KhrcbXAqKQ.html
