Assalam Waleikum As a Japanese converted Muslim, I really feel him. My family, especially my mother, is practical Shintoist (Japanese traditional polytheism). After my conversion, she said “my son became a terrorist! ”, I wasn’t waiting for such a strong word, but she never left her birth town speaking zero foreign language so…One day she served me a bacon carbonara then I said “but…this is carbonara” “yeah as you liked when you were kid” “yeah I used to”. Years later, alhamdoulillah my mother just got used to me being Muslim and asks me like “when is the next Ramadan ?”. I’ve traveled a lot and now am living in an European country as an immigrant. What I see objectively now is Japan is one of the most conservative country, maybe more than China or South Korea. Not only my mother but also my friends were like “so you don’t eat any meat now…?” The problem is in my opinion ultimately simple : just ignorance. No mater which Abraham religion, or physical difference whatnot, Japanese people are too introvert and not trying to see another world. I’m NOT trying to force them to understand but to let them be interested in what Islam is or difference is. Basically we all hope the peace.

my father once told me... he said "Just because me and your mom are Muslims, it doesn't mean you are also a Muslim... You must choose it, with what you already have, that's with your mind and conscience... so you will have a strong reason for why are you Muslim." My parents are Muslim and my grandfather told me about Jannah, Islam, our prophet Muhammad and Islam's beauties. I cannot understand why people dont try to see the beauties of Islam and they are against Islam because they see the fake and negative image of Muslims. Each people is for himself. There can be toxic and fanatic people who interpret the Islam wrongly. You just need to see the truth

I remember one of our teachers singled out Ahmed and he said "it will be on the shoulders of people like you that Islam will be revived". I just ordered The Quran online last night, i want to read it & i have two Muslim friends from Pakistan that i like so very much. Humans like to throw blanket statements like "terrorists", in studying many religions, every faith or belief has its bad seeds but to label all as bad or terrorists, shows a persons ignorance & immaturity. I am not a Muslim but that may change after i read the Quran however i do Pray & i will Pray for Muslim Community to gather around this Iman & His Family, hopefully humans can all be together in kind. If you don't know what's the plan laid out for you and how it's gonna unfold, the logical option is to do your best, and that includes praying, as laid out in the holy book. Second, he's not "arrogant" to think he's "good" enough that his prayer alone would be enough. "Ah, if only". God is God, the almighty. Not a human like us. If you try your best, does it guarantee the outcome that you wish for? Can you control the result of your own work? In essence, can you predict the future? You can't, we can only try. People usually call it luck. So in a way, can you be lucky all the time? Of course not, that's why people call it luck. There's a saying, "success is one of the possible outcomes", which means, no matter hard you try, success is still a possibility, it's not a guarantee. "Much of which is just does not make sense....having a genie come out". Nope, I don't understand how can think it's the same as having a genie after all that. "So then how". What do you mean make it? Do you mean like the high mental health problem? high suicidal rate? being alcoholic? Are drugs dependent?. Let me just tell you about myself. If not for learning about Islam, I can see myself fall into depression, and so do many people that I've known. It's kinda funny seeing how I see some people recommend books about philosophy, ritual, hobbies, and things like that, saying it really helped them, things that Islam already fulfilled for us. It's guidance after all. Those without guidance might make it till the end, but the state of their condition would be different than those with guidance.

It was so sad to hear the Imam say the most difficult part of being a Japanese Muslim currently was not having the company and friendship of other Muslims. In Sha Allah, things change over the next few years and the Muslims in Japan regardless of their ethnicity consciously reach out to one another and try to forge strong bonds. Community and friendship play a key role in Islam.

@Henry Wu if you have no experience, try living in indonesia, not watching media. It is true the society does discriminate if you went murtad (left islam) in indonesia. It doesn't exclusively happened on villages, townsfolk also did discriminate the minorities. I'm not telling all muslim did this, but the good muslim does nothing to help those whom got discriminated. They simply doesn't want to get involved with the conflicts between extremist and minorities.

This video series is absolutely beautiful and makes me tear up every time I listen to these stories. It causes me to have so much introspection and reflection and patience with the seemingly small problems I have in my life. I’ll make Dua and salat for all the Muslims who are struggling to practice their faith and be good individuals for themselves, their families, and their communities. Watching this video made me cry. I cry and feel disappointed of myself that I should be grateful and practice Islam more proudly. I just knew there are so many “converts” out there, finally coming to Islam and facing way way more hardships than we do and it’s so beautiful to see them fight through their hardships with pure sincerity and love for islam. I hope this things can inspire more youth to embrace islam and be proud of it. Masyaallah. Let us all pray for him and his family to convert to Islam and for him to have a muslim community in Japan🙏🏻

Its interesting how he talks about the nafs in a very Buddhistic kind of way, as only this ego which is a distraction from the True self etc. We do sometimes use it like this in Islam too but we dpnt only see this aspect because its something that can be weilded for good too, Umar RA spoke to his Nafs in a good way sometimes lol, and in the Muwatta he said I will show these people my Nafs when he went into battle against the odds, other times its only Ego and we have to be careful with it.. But this Imam is only talking about that aspect because I think he kinda was trained to only be aware of the nafs as something to completely detach from, from his time reading Buddhism etc.. Im not saying its wrong just interesting

I live in Capetown South Africa where Islam is very strong and vibrant. We are a community based society and I feel for the young Sheigh in Japan who sadly don't have that luxury. We Muslims here in the fairest Cape are far from perfect but we care and share each other's burdens and neighbors are in large parts treated as extended family. Our generosity is also extended to other faiths because we are taught that ppl are either your brother in faith or your brother in humanity.

Subhan Allah, his story is heart touching! Especially I loved the part where he said that he became Imam to take care for the new Muslims because no one was doing it.

I feel like the reverts will LOVE it in Malaysia. Although we are not an islamic country, our national religion is Islam so there are a huge crowds at Juma'ah prayer, our people and community is so caring with one another, and muslims are a majority so you'll feel more at ease and its so easy to find halal food. Even the non muslims like it here including Japanese. Come visit anytime! You'll be welcomed 👍🏼👍🏼

You should never wish for hardship because you have no idea if you'd be able to succeed by being patient or not. So I advise my brother ask Allah for al-Afiya in this world and the next . And there are still other ways inshAllah biithnillAh like increasing one's good deeds and being sincere to Allah. BarakAllahu feekum

taking shahadah is the first step, as the imam said, they need more help after that, iblis will not immediately stop after someone takes shahadah, he will always drag you out and try to push you out of the fold of Islam.

WOMEN ARE DOGS, ASSES, CAMELS AND SEX SLAVES, AND MAJORITY IN HELL ARE WOMEN. Quran (4:11) - (Inheritance) "The male shall have the equal of the portion of two females" (see also verse 4:176 ). In Islam, sexism is mathematically established. Quran (2:282) - (Court testimony) "And call to witness, from among your men, two witnesses. And if two men be not found then a man and two women." Muslim apologists offer creative explanations to explain why Allah felt that a man's testimony in court should be valued twice as highly as a woman's, but studies consistently show that women are actually less likely to tell lies than men, meaning that they make more reliable witnesses. Quran (2:228) - "and the men are a degree above them [women] " Quran (5:6) - "And if ye are unclean, purify yourselves. And if ye are sick or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the closet, or ye have had contact with women, and ye find not water, then go to clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it" Men are to rub dirt on their hands, if there is no water to purify them, following casual contact with a woman (such as shaking hands). Quran (24:31) - Women are to lower their gaze around men, so they do not look them in the eye. (To be fair, men are told to do the same thing in the prior verse). Quran (2:223) - "Your wives are as a tilth unto you; so approach your tilth when or how ye will..." A man has dominion over his wives' bodies as he does his land. This verse is overtly sexual. There is some dispute as to whether it is referring to the practice of anal intercourse. If this is what Muhammad meant, then it would appear to contradict what he said in Muslim (8:3365) . Quran (4:3) - (Wife-to-husband ratio) "Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four" Inequality by numbers. Quran (53:27) - "Those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names." Angels are sublime beings, and would therefore be male. Quran (4:24) and Quran (33:50) - A man is permitted to take women as sex slaves outside of marriage. Note that the verse distinguishes wives from captives ( those whom they right hand possesses). Sahih Bukhari (6:301) - "[Muhammad] said, 'Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?' They replied in the affirmative. He said, 'This is the deficiency in her intelligence.' " Sahih Bukhari (6:301) - continued - "[Muhammad said] 'Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?' The women replied in the affirmative. He said, 'This is the deficiency in her religion.'" Allah has made women deficient in the practice of their religion as well, by giving them menstrual cycles. Sahih Bukhari (2:28) & Sahih Bukhari (54:464 ) - Women comprise the majority of Hell's occupants. This is important because the only women in heaven mentioned explicitly by Muhammad are the virgins who serve the sexual desires of men. (A weak Hadith, Kanz al-`ummal , 22:10, even suggests that 99% of women go to Hell). Sahih Muslim (4:1039) - "A'isha said [to Muhammad]: ' You have made us equal to the dogs and the asses' " These are the words of Muhammad's favorite wife, complaining of the role assigned to women under Islam. Abu Dawud (2:704) - "...the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: When one of you prays without a sutrah, a dog, an ass, a pig, a Jew, a Magian, and a woman cut off his prayer, but it will suffice if they pass in front of him at a distance of over a stone's throw." Abu Dawud (2155) - Women are compared to slaves and camels with regard to the "evil" in them. Tabari Vol 9, Number 1754 - "Treat women well, for they are [like] domestic animals with you and do not possess anything for themselves." From Muhammad's 'Farewell Sermon'.
