Amazing game and mechanic The fact that by the setting you "expect" something to be chasing you its a good show that the tension on this game is really well made. Scans are slow and unprecise and the sound its definetly eerie and omnious, plus the first jumpscare being treated like that and a sudden error plus the sillouete that it leaves after its done really adds up. Also the music that plays after the game "reboots" its very fitting and adds to the thrill

also the fact that you never actually scan the entity, it's just the absence of the scanned spot that alert's you to it's presence

Had it not been for the Half Life 2 pistol model, this could pass as an actual game.

...Reread my message and go look up Scanner Sombre, Lidar might be a garry's mod mod but Scanner Sombre is the exact same thing, as a game. And it has been out for two or three years.

i love how the map is actually a mix between gm_construct and a few other maps , and now adding this addon where you got to scan these places wich we're alive is adding a feeling of creepiness yet nostalgic

This is a very fun addon, nothing actually really chases you. It was just an entity roaming about. Yet it's always so unnerving

I like how he isn't cracking jokes to loosen up the tension like lots of people do, it helps keeping the eerie vibe throughout

If you pay attention to the layout of the rooms after 8:50 you can tell that it's the underground section of gm_construct, the cut at 9:20 is when James enters the darkroom

I dont know why, but this is very similar to a small game I made with some pals on a DarkRP server, I made a Ray Tracing Camera using a E2 and a EGP, it was pretty slow and it only showed Depth, I showed it around and someone had the idea of using it as a kinda marco polo style game, we found a dark room and I just carried the EGP around trying to find them, the scary part about it is when someone decided to put their face right up to the Ray, it got a SUPER detailed image of his face, and it freaking jump scared me

@@kebabit707 using Wiremod, you can using the build in "Ranger" (you can also place down a Ranger), I then mapped the X and Y rotations to pixels on the screen, then I increment them, just like a CRT TV, it then makes a square on the EGP for every pixel, you can look up E2 RayCasting videos to get a better explaim

what disoriented me the most about this gamemode is that it inverted your left and rights on maps, making it REALLY weird and completely unique.

Games needs more unique unimaginable horrors like this

Love how they leave the silhouette of the creature in after the reboot, it just confirms that you weren't seeing things, something was there.

It leaves the silhouette because when you look at the "reboot screen" It says something about an unknown material, the game just doesn't know what color to fill it with so it just doesn't fill it with anything. Hope I expained it good enough

Yep, lidar is the best, just the pure terror in your mind is worth playing it, unfortunately it will get boring... Joking, the compatibility is perfect and also being able to play on any map with meshes and nodes is cool, gotta hope that it will update frequently

Oh nice, I saw The Librarians video on this (You should definetley check them out if you like these sort of stuff). And knowing what, you known, would happen while Jameskii is just absolutley having a athmospheric pain stroll was wonderful.

This kind of horror game is extremly interesting and I can see how it easily adapts into being a horror game, the person that made this did a spectacular job.

I love this, it's so interesting and it really tickles my Iron Lung scan mechanic.

Reminds me of Iron Lung but this time you cannot see as if your eyes cannot create new information without being prompted to first. It makes for an amazing level of tension when you cannot see in realtime.

At the end it got substantially less terrifying once i realised its gm construct

The concept of this game is horrifying and I love it. It takes the concepts of liminal spaces, and taking pictures in the dark to make for a truly horrifying experience. There could have been no monster at all and your expectations would be that there always is and that alone is scary enough.

This dman mod for me is the far scarier then any horror game due to the fact that the "monster" is a random thing that and you wont expect it at all and it only pops up once so EVERYTHING sets you off when you first play and that jumpscar happeneds
