There's a very conservative Christian family in my hometown that does foster care and they once adopted a boy (now grown and successful) who had ODD due to severe abuse from his biological mom. They took him to the doctor, got him the appropriate meds, and disciplined him as needed but, as religious as they were, they never, EVER even mentioned getting him an exorcism. Mental illness does not equal possession.

Hm let's see, Yelling even at the beginning of being told what to do like a dog being abused, hit everytime I talked back or screamed in terror because they wouldn't stop until I complied, being told I should've been a still born and not my sister who should be alive, and flat out thrown outside for days at a time because drugs or alcohol would effect my parents and turn them into monsters. Overall just a dark and very shittier version of this. (Excuse my language)

As an autistic person, I can confirm that there is not a demon living in my body. I can confirm I do not need an exorcism. Autistic brains work differently, and it’s beautiful in their own unique way. Pretty sad the boy’s father doesn’t see it this way. He’s the reason for his son’s anxiety, and he needs to wake up and figure that out.
