We supported Rangers through thick and thin even when we were relegated to the third tier of Scottish football and had to claw our way back up. Even then, our home games had 40 odd thousand fans in the stadium still.

Heard this earlier and couldn't believe it....he should try supporting teams like Bury ... Or as I do Bolton and see their team nearly wound up ... His attitude was woeful ...you stick by your team thru think and thin ..no matter what and in what league you play in ...playing in league two was tough for my team after a successful time in the premier ...but we were still here ..our fans have been amazing in there support of Bolton ...if that prat supported a team in the same position they would have been wound up within weeks ....

I have supported Newcastle since I was around 10, so 30 years, when ashley took over, we had 14 years of absolute carnage, but through it all I supported team, even though I didn't support the ownership, and when we were relegated, I actually enjoyed watching us in the championship, it was an exciting league, but we all want premiership, Brian if you can't support them through the bad times, you don't deserve them in the good times.

In the 08/09 season, they won League 1. So if he's been a season ticket holder for 25 years, not only would he have seen them in the championship, he'd have seen them in league 1 as well.

At the end of the day if the players won’t even bother to turn up on their multi million pound contracts why should fans pay their hard earned money to watch it?

Not necessarily, we've got to move away from this genius business trick of transfers fix everything so spend,spend spend. Newcastle are a great example of this. This "nothing to play for" is it a bit of a myth i think. Players will have performance bonuses that they can get. Teams want to finish as high as possible
