One way to include an intro, is to have it be no longer than 3 seconds. And even better is if you make it only show up the first time you click the green flag. That is done by having a variable called "seen intro". When green flag clicked, check if the variable is = to 0. If it's 0, then show the intro. After the intro is finished, set the variable to 1. If you click the green flag and "seen" intro is not 0, then just go onto the game. One more thing, make sure to save the project with the variable set to 0, or else it will never show the intro. Doing all that allows you to use an intro, and the player won't get annoyed every time they restart.

actually this is a smart idea, but it depends on whether the game/animation is a simulator or not.

Won’t work. If someone is playing, it will cause the next to not have the intro. You also need a username detector.

@@dagamer667_ have you ever heard of 'not initializing variables shen you click a flag but instead when you click the _save now_ button?' Because what that does is it makes it so that variable doesnt reset when you click the flag and you can carry info across flag clicks, you dont need a cloud variable for it

For the highscore, DO NOT put the “show variable ☁️highscore” in the “If score > ☁️highscore” because then you only see the highscore if you got the highscore.

Yeah i know. In one of my projects I've done too many. The only thing that was actually useful was the thumbnail. I have a scratch addon that sets your thumbnail outside the project, but not inside so it looks really weird.

For the thumbnail you can simply do that : (When 🏴clicked) Put the effect ghost at 100 If you remove the "repeat forever" block, it may increade fps on wear devices

Cool way to make a title for your thumbnail: add the title with no outline, then copy so that you have 2 text in the same spot. Select one of them, add an outline then make it appear behind the text with no outline. It looks very cool but it's weird when you have to change it. Works with sprites too if you want a sticker efect. Sorry for bad explaining, I'm not very good at English

I used that method for the title in both the thumbnail and the main menu in a game Im working on at the moment, and it allows me to add more layers and colors rather than just one outline. And your english is good, it was just poorly explained but at least I understood it

your system for thumbnails is better than the one that i used! my system used 4 blocks that you can stack and two events, yours uses 3 stackable blocks and 1 event! Thank you!

My game was really close to be featured in ur video. It was on tending #12 in games. LOL

Intros are good, as long as they are skippable. Also, please for the love of god don't overtag it. It's just going to make me hate you more if you tag something that's not even remotely loud. The best advice I can give is don't be afraid to ask for help. For example, I'm a coder and a musician, but my art is literally just circles. On the other hand, I have friends who love art but struggle with code and songs. So they'll teach me how to draw an oval and i'll show them why glide blocks deserve to die.

@@radicalquad they are a sin against humanity. basically they look super bad when used for nearly any type of movement, they're beginner level blocks that mislead new scratchers trying to make something move smoothly, and they can basically be seen as the "say" block but for motion also velocity >>>>>>> gliding

#6 (probably the most important one) use an old project that's been aging in your unshared for months. scratch projects need to be indexed into the system before they're able appear on trending or the search results. projects can be indexed while unshared though, so once you finish your game, download the file and upload it into an unshared project with an old url. check the trending tab and see which project has the highest url to know if you're project has been indexed yet.

Also in scratch, if there isn't a Cloud variable option for your variables, you are NEW SCRATCHER, so wait a month or two and register as a Scratcher Edit: it's only 2-3 weeks to register...

can you do a tutorial for converting cloud variables from numbers to letters? for example an encoding method could be A = 01, B = 02 and so on, so HAT would be saved in the cloud variable as 080120, then it would be set to HAT when decoded

highscore system is the simpliest one a scratch user would think!

If you really want an intro, make sure there is a skip button, and state it in the intro, don't say it only in the description, write a text on screen: "S for Skip" Until the intro finishes! Great way for you to get your intro but not disturb the potential likes!!

To touch up stuff in the thumbnail one: you can also include the "brightness effect: (4)"

Actually having a good panzoid intro can't do you any harm if you clearly state how to skip it

$:46 Why can't you add a keypress or button to skip the intro? That would allow players that played it for the first time to see your intro and returning players could easily skip it. You tell them what key to press AFTER they complete the first objective in your game.

One of the most annoying things about Scratch, is when you update your game, each individual change is live. When you make changes, there should be an “Update” Button that applies all changes that you’ve made to the Public Version. Basically, you go into your Project, make changes, press “Update”, then done. When you exit the Project before pressing update, you will still have the update option the next time you go on it, it will save the changes. When you go onto your Project, it won’t show the updated changes until you go into the code and back, unless you press the “Update” Button, and then the changes will be Public. I think there’s a workaround by downloading the Project, then loading the updated version onto the Project after, but it’s annoying, it should just be a Scratch Feature.

You have to be a scratcher to make the cloud variables, if you're a new scratcher it won't work. For the apple lose, try When Green Flag Clicked >Forever>if stop all (or whatever you want in here.)

1) mass reporting. This happened to a Henry stickmin fangame so many times they had to move to gamejolt. 2) Something bad inside of the code, or if your whole account got banned then maybe something bad in a unshared project

actually, you need to put the "Go to Front Layer" in the forever loop, incase you have sprites in your game that change layers, you want to be sure that the thumbnail is in front of them all.

What do you mean by not automatically updating? Not saving then automatically publishing the changes? Well, Scratch auto saves, so it would be difficult to stop this unless you turned off your internet connection so it physically can't update, or experiment with your changes on a downloaded version of the project. You can do this by pressing file, save to this computer. You can work on it in offline Scratch, and when you are done, you can go back to the original web project on Scratch, click file, upload from this computer, and click override changes. (replace current project)

Go to a game, and at the bottom of the Love and Favorite button, you should see a Cloud Data variable, under the title "Extensions". Only games that have Cloud Variables will show the cloud variable button.

Go To Front block in the Looks category, or just use the "Show Variable" and "Hide Variable" block in the variables category. When the green flag is pressed, show the variable, and then when you want to show the thumbnail, hide all of the variables.

Ok something i want to say, i just do not like people that spam tags, sure it sometimes works, but there are some people who dont do it and have an amazing project, but no views, but then with a lot of tags but a terrible project and gets a ton of views. A small amount of tags is fine but dont overdue it

And make it very saturated and bright, for some reason a lot of platformers do that

Heres a good way around intros, add a skip intro button!
