    If you lack confidence develop a healthy ego through doing hard things . You will slowly become a competent person and this will in turn make you a more confident individual. Change up your body language and language ( record yourself and write down the things you would change right now about your communication) , workout , read books and become exceptionally good at whatever you wish to be the best at. Doing this for 7 months now has saved my life,doing better every day. It's ok to be scared when facing challenges, but regardless you must do them. That shows bravery

    I can think or talk about this shit until I’m blue in the face. That’s not the issue. The issue is getting over that hurdle and actually DOING it. I’m a cashier so I have to interact with hundreds of people every day, and each time someone comes up, I tell myself, “I can do this. I’m gonna be myself” but then I don’t. I put on my fake customer service voice and get through the interaction as quickly as I can, even if I’d like to start a conversation. How do I take action? I put on a mask when I interact with everyone now- co-workers, random strangers and family members. I’m tired and I’m done but I can’t seem to stop. I know why I can’t- it’s because I’ve been burned in the past and I’m afraid of being myself

    Move somewhere where you don't know anyone, and get a job that is nothing like your current one, and your current patterns won't fit, so you won't feel compelled to continue in them. More than anything, just get into any job that doesn't center on customer service. And check out the essay "Self-Reliance" by Emerson; somewhere in the middle there's a relevant section on "consistency".

    you have to push yourself. pick a person and say that person will know the real me. then be honest. push yourself to be real until you stop caring about the repercussions. Trust me, this works. I did this all of my 20s and in my 30s, i will be honest with others. if they have a problem with me, then they should bring it up to me. if they don't then they're children.

    As someone that worked retail and during corona crisis, that’s not a good situation to compare yourself to It’s a job with demanding conditions where you interact more with strangers that by chance treat you as a person, but most of them think you’re either a service robot or use you to get their anger/frustration etc off These people and your reaction to them doesn’t define you If it changes your personality, it’s time go get a different job I’ve been in the same boat, changed career drastically and try to figure out the stuff I’ve experienced before retail and during, to be the joyful person I was before. I’ve learned a lot about people and myself but when the time comes where you can’t learn anything anymore and it undermines your resources, it’s time to go

    When you define yourself, you limit yourself. "Admitting" you're too dumb is an ego defense mechanism against the feeling of failure to prevent you from putting in more effort... to state your limits like that is an act of Creating a more sharply defined self-conception (or ego), not erasing one. The painful truth you're avoiding: intelligence isn't a static quality. The process of learning involves Feeling dumb and inferior, and you have to have the drive to eliminate that feeling through Conquering the enigmas causing it, not assuage the feeling by accepting your current state as permanent. Your demeanor here comes off as if you're being fully brutally honest with yourself, but to a philosopher, this reeks of chicken soup self-love, self-acceptance crap hidden underneath. Then again, I'm reacting to a small clip without knowing the full context. I'm a fan of ugly truths being dished out, but pain isn't necessarily a measure of validity. Just because an idea can knock you out of a stagnant equilibrium isn't a guarantee that it'll do so in a direction of growth. A rut has multiple exit points, and some lead to deeper ruts. You're not too dumb; you're presently too lazy to get any smarter, and the laziness seems to have achieved a victory here. Every "truth" conceals something else, like ego nesting-dolls. Dig deeper.

    From what I've seen from his content, he probably mean it as in admitting himself that he is too dumb, not smart enough, and not have what it takes actually let him to be able to put himself to situations where his previous self (the one that has ego) would have freeze and avoid because he was scared to look dumb, not smart enough, and not strong enough. He no longer feel the limitation. He actually teach that as human, we shouldn't define ourself to one thing. For example, awkward person might fear to come off as weird and awkward, they try their best to come off as cool and normal which makes them limiting themselves and control themselves so much maybe even end up saying nothing at all just so they don't say or do things that embarass them, or having their body holding back their voice because of how much they avoid come off as weird or awkward. Tune yourself into the feeling of what if I'm awkward and stupid, why does it matter, why I feel unworthy because of it, etc. etc. that you end up feeling it's okay whether you're cool or awkward, etc. Thus freeing ourselves from the ego

  • @bluee5991

    @bluee5991

    11 ай бұрын

    Another example, I'm scared of being a failure or making mistakes, I end up avoiding myself from any opportunities just because I'm scared to ruin it and make more mistakes. Tuning in it and accepting myself "okay, I might be dumb, I might make mistake, I may be a failure, why is it not okay? Why can't I accept myself? Why does it matters?" Long story short, it lead me to dig deep why am I uncomfortable with it, what happened and try to "let go" of it. And after a long time and journey processing it thus I free myself from doing things that my oldself would avoid because of the ego. It's not "I'm suck, there is nothing I can do about it, so I am just gonna give up, it's useless" but rather "I may look dumb, stupid, fail doing or saying this thing, so what, I want to do it".

    @@oopsalldrip8816 the key is not insulting or being harsh with yourself, but be okay with whatever you are thus opening yourself with potential instead of limiting yourself and denying yourself. Stop seeing things negative positive. If I feel like I'm dumb but I deny this feeling and try to use affirmation "I'm not dumb, I'm smart, I'm witty" etc. Instead of growing, I may end up getting in a worse situation because if what I feel inside and what I said aren't congruent, it just increase the feeling of "I am not that". Only someone who is not cool that try to change to be cool, only someone who is not pretty try to change to be pretty. You said nobody is dumb.. that's because you see dumb as a negative trait and try to avoid it. You make this criteria "not dumb" as your self worth while actually it shouldn't have matter, whether someone's an idiot or smart they're still human an enough as they are, not superior nor inferior than the other. However don't mistook my word with being okay and enough with yourself to "giving up" with myself. When you feel content and accept yourself, you can still want to be pretty or smart but it cames from the feeling of abundance instead of "need" that insinuates you lack of something. The key to happiness is radical self acceptance. If you see negative positive and only allow yourself to be happy if you were cool, smart, pretty, rich, then you'll be in constant need of chasing something. When you're finally content with yourself, there will be no longer self-negative talk. When you try something, you don't have to "power through" because now you and your mind both work for yourself, there is no "enemy" to get through. You see a lot of self-motivation are mostly talking about discipline, strong will, etc. these happen because most people's enemies are themselves, because they keep putting things that distance themselves from allowing themselves to be happy. We often talk as if happiness is a temporer state, only reached when we're at certain point, as if unhappiness is our default while actually happiness should've been our default.

He is not teaching the tendencies of the ego. He has not even realized his own patterns, at least not all of them, as I spotted ego in his words. He clearly separates the idea of himself from his idea of others with his mind. He does not see the sameness in all. I mean he literally said “they still suck.” 😂😂
