​​​@@1993rnicholson ..​You dont have to cheat. You can easily catch mew in Gen 1. Back at that time the only thing you needed was creativity. In my childhood we used the link cable trick to get mew but there are other ways to get mew without cheats..​

My best friend did it after a month back in the day. If you fail you have to start over to even get back to that table. I managed to do it afterwards. It was absurd. It can definitely be done but one mistake and it's over

you only have 2 minutes. The same amount of time you have for all of the Pokemon. There is a TAS video where they perfectly juggle the Pokeball on top of the Mew. But even with that you don't have enough time so they hacked the timer.

​@@glohbk6827the point is that you can't capture it. But it gets registered just by encountering it, in comparison with the other 150 that you must catch.

1024 is the highest number expressible in 11-bit binary, so this is probably just the max value assignable to the hit count.

it's because there are 4 steps in catching the Pokemon, so they just made each of them take 256 instead of like 1.

As hard as it was, it's still my favourite spin off game haha

Ruby and Sapphire Pinball was designed to elicit joy, that checks out. The original game, however, was designed to inflict pain. Seriously, the difficulty level is off the charts compared to it's sequel.

we need a modern switch release where each new pinball machine is a different generation with full national dex

I LOVE POKÉMON PINBALL! Recently downloaded an emulator so I could play it again. I love having the quick save feature mid game. Kinda cheating LOL but this game is challenging at times, which I love! They make most Pokémon games too easy these days 😒

Pokemon Pinball was actually so good. I would love a new one on the switch or my phone.

There were a total of 19 games with rumble for the GBC. However, Pokemon Pinball was the only first-party Nintendo IP to incorporate it - all others were third party titles.

I vaguely remember this as a kid, at least the “I think it’s glitched cause it’s not letting me catch it” part. But that’s why I had gamesharks for every system I owned in the 90’s.

I absolutely LOVED this game. It was so unique and addicting. Completing the Pokedex was not an easy task but it was so fun.

Pokemon pinball at 5 years old in 1999 is actually why I grew up to be an addict, js......

You dont know how many batteries I've wasted on this game as a kid

My brother and I put SO MANY hours into this game and we got only about half of the dex completed. It was so addictive and hard but it kept us sucked in. I'm truly sad that it never got a remake.

Pokémon pinball: ruby and sapphire is one of my first video games ever and one of my favorites. Only replaying it as an adult have I realized how hard it really is

Mew is a 1/16 encounter on the rare encounter slots (3 arrows), also you need to swap boards 5 times to get to indigo plateau not travel across every board

That Machamp sprite goes hard

This game is the reason my GBC has a big dent in the screen 😅

I still have my original copy of Pokémon Pinball 2 for the gameboy advance with all the Gen 2 Pokémon on it. But Man do I miss and wish I still had the original Pokémon Pinball! Because it was better than its predecessor in my opinion, even with the newer Gen 2 mons at the time.

So I wonder if Mew has a persistent catch counter, similar to how the Burning Tower Trio keep persistent health through encounters.

I always got my butt kicked in this game, I was like dammit another life lost!

And yet Pinball Ruby & Sapphire was even better.

I like how the high score was always NIN at 500,000 because that's my name, I was so surprised they knew my name, and I don't know how I was awarded the top place. My friend later told me it was NIN for Nintendo.

Yeah, I'll admit I used a GameShark to catch it. I used the unlimited balls and unlimited time codes. But when I did actually catch Mew, it had a glitched out graphic and let me catch it in 3 hits like normal. I don't know if that was a side effect of the cheats or not, because I don't remember having one to make Mew appear early or anything. I had to play through all the boards as normal.
