    We need to continually realize how weak we are so that we may find strength only in Him. He is our peace and He is constant. However, that does not mean that the material world around us will become peaceful soon or in our lifetimes. Stephen experienced peace as he gazed into heaven, but was still stoned to death- all for God’s glory. There is definitely some “Word of Faith” doctrine present in this message.

    Empowerment and authority is grossly neglected by reformed distortions of human depravity... all TRADITION. Bill is quite balanced in his emphasis on empowerment and a posture of humbly submitting to the voice of God. The real threat of this teaching is in the minds people who do not believe in a real Holy Spirit and cannot comprehend Spirit-based authority.

    Well.."inner peace" is basically our faith in God...it calms the storm because He becomes great..the storms become smaller in our perspective, He gives us hope, the Storm becomes even smaller...until ultimately our storms become small annoyances..therby changing our view of our trouble. Trouble and suffering, storms and chaos are inevitable, Jesus told us so...we cannot stop them from coming...God changes Us, though our circumstances may not always change. To say that God does not bring judgement and storms..etc..on purpose, is not true. The Old testament is filled with examples where God did in fact cause and allow these things...its clearly stated...so im not sure where he can say that Jesus rebuked the storm, therefore the devil caused it,...no nature caused the storm..God created this earth, it has order, it has systems in place, and storms happen naturally...only the cteator can rebuke creation and control...to me its an example that Jesus is CREATOR God, Lord over the storm and in the storm...and thats all I have to say about that...

    Well yes, God can, and has allowed weather events to happen when they are according to His perfect will (E.g. people come to Christ following a hurricane because they are reminded of the power of the Almighty God and have the fear of God in them again, but that might just be an effect rather than why it was God's will for the weather event to happen). But it is important that we dont understand 'nature' to be "the cause of the storms" as you said. The bible states "now that Satan had infected the whole world with his sins, he is now the ruler of this world. ..." (1 John 5:19 NIV). Crucially, the bible refers to Satan as "the prince of the power of the air" (Ephesians 2:1-3). So there is some alignment there with why Bill Johnson suggested that Jesus rebuked the storm because of its possible demonic influence. But that wasn't why Jesus rebuked the storm. He rebuked the storm to show that God has power over all creation because He made all things and has authority over all things. It is important to remain without fear in a storm/ crisis by maintaining our faith in God not least because God promises that He "will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him" (Psalm 91:15). We can have faith and trust in the promises of the Lord God, the maker of heaven and earth, as He "keeps truth forever" (Psalm 146:6).

    Actually, we CAN change what He allows to happen. He can allow demons to attack a person so that the person will learn to fight. He will let you encounter resistance so you learn to persevere and overcome. Did you read what God told the Israelites about not eliminating all the Canaanites at once? Two reasons: so that the beasts of the field won't fill the land and rise up against them, and so that they would learn to fight. (Judges 3:1-2, Deuteronomy 7:22). He will allow situations to happen for you to exercise areas where you are lacking. In order for you to grow and to also use what He has given you. Weren't the lion and the bear training opportunities for David? Yes, those battles prepared him to face Goliath.

    I would really love to see Bill back up some of his statements with scripture. The fact that he just surmised that there was a demon in the storm because of the way Jesus addressed it is reading Bill’s opinion into the text. The way he preaches Is dangerous because he mixes his opinion in with the truth of Scripture. All these one-liner type inspirational phrases is quite shallow.

    @@Marvin-os5fq Okay, if it was implied a few things come to mind: 1) If its implied shouldn't everyone be able to see that in the text? 2) Where do implications stop? If I read my own implication into Bill's implication how far away from the truth of Scripture could we slide? Scripture is inspired, implications of men are not. 3) There were plenty of times in Scripture where Jesus dealt with demons directly, so if there was a demon in the storm why wasn't it plain to see for the reader? 4) Does this mean there is a demon in every storm? Or a demon in every thing we could take as negative, destructive, or potentially dangerous in our lives? You mentioned confirmation of what you saw? Can you unpack that further?

  • @Marvin-os5fq

    @Marvin-os5fq

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@kellywilsonid He said that it was an implication to him, it's probably because he's taking into account other details like He told the disciples that they were going to the other side. Since Jesus was following the Father's will, then God wanted them to cross over to the other side. Why would a storm suddenly encounter the boat and try to hinder them? It would be against God's will. Upon arrival to the other side, you see that the first thing Jesus does is confront demons. They came through the Gadarene begging Him not to cast them out. After He was done, the man became a testimony to the people. So the demonic storm was resisting that. See also in the book of Job, that Satan used wind and fire to kill Job's sheep, shepherds and children. (Job 1:16, 1:19) Because God told Satan that all of Job's possessions were in Satan's hands, but he was forbidden to kill Job. What I saw was in a dream. It was very similar to what Jesus did with the storm. Now mind you, at the time I had that dream, I was not meditating on that specific incident. Nor had I heard Bill Johnson say what he did. I just found out today that he said it. In the dream, I saw a boat and a boy on that boat, which represented a son of God. He was sitting on the center of the boat, which was at sea. Then I saw that a demon appeared behind the boy; the spirit was black and shadowy. The demon stirred up a storm in the form of a big whirlwind, rain, strong winds and roaring waters. His goal was to destroy the boy or to make him suffer. But I saw that the boy was filled up with faith and spoke to the whirlwind, and it dissipated. However, it did not stop immediately. I saw and felt that the storm went on for a quite a while. So the boy had to persevere with his faith, speaking to the storm. Until it finally stopped. When it did, the demon behind him disappeared. And then the Lord Jesus Christ showed up, waited a brief moment in silence, and signaled for angels to appear and minister to the boy. I still don't know why the Lord waited to signal the angels, but that was like when Jesus overcame the 3 temptations and angels appeared in order minister to Him. That was my experience. I had that dream on September 20, 2017. Sometimes I receive revelations that are later confirmed by unexpected sources.

    T-Zay Read the rest of Isaiah 30. The entire passage is speaking about judgment that comes from turning away from following God's will, choosing instead to listen to those who prophesy things that sound good to the ears, but only build up ones self. Third wave pentecostalism and this new apostolic reformation movement do an incredible job of cherry picking single verses out of context and building out an entire theology based on it. Its harmful and dangerous. And that's not just me being "religious." I am coming from the same background and used to share Bill Johnson's teachings to my friends, until I went back to Scripture as the ultimate authority and found Isaiah 30's warning to be applicable to these fringe teachings.

    This is metaphysics and new ageism. Jesus didn't calm the storm out of His inner peace. He calmed it by y'know...being God. That is the point of that Scripture that Bill conveniently left out. Mark 4:40-41 - "He said to them, 'Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?' And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, 'Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?" The point of this wasn't to say, you have power over the storm. The point was to say that this is who Christ is and HE has authority over the storm.

    Classic eisegesis. "The chaos outside of Him had to submit to the peace that was inside of Him". Where is that in the text? Absolutely NOWHERE! That passage is about Jesus showing the He is God. Only God has control over nature; not man. Jesus calmed the storm because He was not merely human. He was and is God in the flesh. Jesus rebuked the disciples because they still didn't believe that He was God. Bill Johnson has to avoid what the text is actually saying in order to diminish the deity of Christ and elevate humanity. He also has to turn the passage into a metaphor for the sake of his false teaching.

    From an Evangelical Charismatic Christian....this is 99% nonsense!!! Bordering on New Age, but at the very least, very very misguided teaching.

    And what part of the Bible are you referring to madam? Or could it be that you just dont like what I've said and so you make such a silly comment about my knowledge of the Bible when you do not know me, my background or my understanding of the Bible. I wonder if you might be caught up in revering this sort of teaching and the speakers charasmatic personality rather than Scripture itself? I mean, really, Bill is not always wrong, but he is on the public stage and one can hear what he believes through his teaching. Your response to me is both ill informed and nonsense because as I said, you have never heard my teaching. Please be careful that you defend the teaching by trying to engage with my response (ie why you think its not new age or asking why I think this) rather than making such outlandish claims about my own knowledge...this only reveals how you may be blindly led and glibly marginalise those who disagree with you. Thanks

    Well done. You responded from the very Bible you made claim to before. Of course you offended....that was why I gave you some advice about engaging with an opposing opinion appropriately. As for your exegesis, I have no issues with your point. My issue has more to do with something else he said from 5.18 onwards. Please remember; when something someone else says disagrees with you, try to ask them 'why' so that you both understand what it is that they are talking about and so that you don't offend them by making silly claims about their knowledge as you have gratuitously done again in this second response "if you disagree then its you that missed out on blessing". (No apology necessary). This behavior is pretty self righteous and self indulgent. If i disagree with you..i'm simply disagreeing with you. ;)

    I know! Got forbid Christians actually operate supernaturally, rest in the presence of God (Isaiah 30:15, Psalm 91, John 15) and do the Great Commission like in Acts!

    It's not a very fun subject to talk about but I can tell you something that will blow your mind.. What if I told you there was a way to have power and authority. Over several things would you think I was crazy. Or would you be interested..
