I think if anything is a must buy from this set, it's the 2.0 Metallics. Even if I paint most of a mini the "traditional" way, I find myself reaching for the Speedpaint metallics when I need it. Also skin tones like Peachy Flesh, can be "brightened" with a very small bit of an ivory color, although to not risk it brightening to much, using the air paint like you did here is probably the best approach overall

Yes! The rerelease of this game was what got me into painting miniatures. That barbarian was the first mini I ever painted. So cool to see it here.

I played the original Heroquest when it came out and being a preteen that was an avid model car builder, I painted all of the figures using model car paints. In hindsight they all looked terrible but at the time I didn't know any better. I picked up the new version of Heroquest recently and introduced my wife and children to it. Just this past weekend my son (age 12) and I began painting the figures and your videos have been very useful. Thank you for making them.

For the AP metal speed paints, make sure they are mixed well. There is a lot of sediment on the bottom that you need to make sure is mixed in before you use them, then they work great. Citadel Contrast paints have a few that have this same issue: Apothecary White, Tesseract Glow, Basilicanum Grey to name a few.

Love Heroquest, Blood Bowl and Fight Fantasy books just remind me of the 80's. I've painted up Heroquest characters and monster for all of the current expansions that was a bit of a slog just the furniture and doors to go!

As probably already mentioned they have done a few extra characters you can play. They include for normal retail a knight, a rogue, warlock and bard plus the monk that die out soon. They did a Druid as well on the initial release but not available for retail just yet. Alt sculpts for the elf and barbarian are also included in two of the expansions as well

Primal miniatures on MMF have great proxies for HeroQuest, they also have the gender swapped versions. I got the Zargon which they called Zahir, to use as the narrator. Printed at 75mm scale as he will never be on the actual board.

Great stuff as always! I've also been playing Heroquest with my little girl recently, she's loving it! I've been working on 3D printing alternative miniatures too, not because of wanting clear bases but because I'm not keen on the bendy plastic, got most of the models all printed and in progress - I've got some videos showing the models I've found as good alternatives if you want to check it out 🙂

Love this game! Love to play it! Love to paint it! I play every year with my nieces and nephews at Thanksgiving, and my adult friends love it as a fast-paced change from DnD Something you'll probably appreciate is the limitless potential for homebrew and narrative expansion. I love describing the sounds and smells of the rooms to my players to get them on edge even before the monsters show up. I'm running a HQ campaign for my DnD buddies where a black dragon has unleashed a plague that turns people into horrible dragon-hybrids. (Less dragonborn, more The Fly body horror.)

I did buy a Heroquest ste for me and my kids about twenty or thirty years ago. Then, later on, I bought a set of the Advanced Heroquest which had slightly different characters but had slightly different terrain as well which you had to construct by rolling dice. I also bought one or two of the extensions which were slightly smaller in scope but just as entertaining. It is a brilliant game system but my kids grew up and wandered away to the world of computers. Shame really because it is no really the sort of hame you can play on your, own, lol.

I played Hero Quest when it was originally released. My friends and I have recently done a few of the scenarios with the newer release. It's fun for the nostalgia, but does feel a little too basic. It is easily convertible to Snackwell's Dungeon Crawl rules. It gives the game a whole new life.

Ive played heroquest since 1989 and Ive played D&D since 1985. I love heroquest because it is a great pick up and play game and with the addition of the app I can play solo or with my wife. i find with all the homebrew stuff for heroquest it has become my favorite. Ive played it with kids and its great cuz its more simple than D&D. There are quite a few extra characters you can play in addition to the heros in the box. They can be found in expansions. Did you use the Speed paint 2.0 or the original Speed Paints

When you paint your green skins try using Army Painter Alien Purple instead of black. Drybrush white over it like normal slapchop. Greens and browns look so good over Alien Purple. Also, I played Heroquest in '89 when it was first released and have beeen playing as much as I can sine it was re-released. Stupid adult crap always gets in the way of my group getting together.

They have put out some new classes/player characters. There is the druid, warlock, bard, knight, rouge, and they just released monk. I think these new classes are for more experienced players or players used to D&D as they are a little more complicated to play that the OG four heroes.

Can someone please help? I love the game. But the heroes have figured out that placing the barbarian at the entrance to the door protects all the other heroes from the monsters within. The monsters then have to attack one by one and get annihilated! How do you prevent this from happening? The challenge is gone! Thanks
