The Berghia Nudibranchs cleared out my 200g system that had a bad amount of aptasia. I got 5 and now there’s dozens of them and I’m sharing them with my local community.

Over time they have faded/disappeared. They just eat all the food. Im not sure about hydroids but I've never had issues with them

Something important to know about Filefish that isn't mention. Yes they are known to eat Aiptasia, but their primary diet in the wild will be nipping on SPS polyp's like acro's. Then you are also feeding whole loads of food. Try to put that fish in a nursery tank for making sure they are pest free but also by adding pieces of rock with Aiptasia so they really develop the anemone hunt instinct.

Nice job Matthew on showing people how to eradicate those pesky Aiptasia. The F-aiptasia works very well. I found using this in conjunction with a copperband butterfly and two filefish in my tank has just about wiped out the aiptasia. 😊

Peppermint shrimp and kalkwasser have been my friend in taking out aiptasia. The key is with the shrimp you mentioned the are Atlantic and Caribbean based from what I remember which is why they are so good at eat aiptasia when they want to.

I LOVE AIPTASIA ! I have 2 beautiful saltwater aquariums (55's) but with no live coral (I have totally realistic synthetic corals from a company in Florida). I get aiptasia from any fish store for free which makes a gorgeous addition to my artificial reef tank (making it look that much more realistic). And there's never been any problems with my damselfish, clowns or invertebrates. 😁👍🏻

peppermints is a nono with my flamehawks aswell as nudibranchs since my wrasse eat them all. its literally impossible to get rid of the ones in the back of my rockwork. i need to make sure the CB i grt eats aipstasia

had my first couple. managed to scrape most out. 1 grew back, peppermint shrimp mullered it. nothing since, 🤞

I had aiptasia. It spread all over. I bought a file fish and it seemed to make no difference. Frustrated I bought some berghia nudibranch. I tested them in the sump to begin with. They obliterated it. I then put the nudibranch into my main tank. To my complete horror the filefish ate them right before my eyes. I was going to get rid of the file fish and buy more nudibranch, but in the couple of weeks before I bought more, my aiptasia seemed to be disappearing. Some of them were around 3 to 4 inches in size. I decided to wait it out. The file fish single handedly wiped out every last one over the course of a few weeks. I've been aiptasia free for 6 months now and feeding him a regular diet. 4 weeks ago, I bought a new coral for my kitchen aquarium. It came with a tiny aiptasia anemone that somehow snuck past me. Naturally, I was cheesed off. So I captured the file fish and put him in. Within 1 hour, it was gone. I left him in for a couple of days just to be sure. Both my aquariums are now aiptasia free. He's never been any trouble for my corals the whole time I've had him. I know there are some horror stories, but this was my experience. I hope this helps anyone struggling with aiptasia.

You forgot the Australien Stripey aka. Microcanthus strigatus. They eat aiptasia, are easy to care for, and they are reef safe. My favorit.

So I’m new to reefs, recently bought a frag that had Aiptasia on it. It’s only been in a few days, week tops, if I just remove that rock should I be okay or has it probably reproduced by now?

Franks turns the solid rock the day after using I’ve tried mixing it with the mixer that comes with it it ends up being unusable if you don’t use the entire thing that day

I do not have live coral in my 235 gallon tank, and I found 2 little aiptasias. Do k need to remove them now?

All I can find online right now is 1/4 inch nudi. They say they are laying eggs but most paces I have read say they need to be half inch. Would you know and when they die do they spike nutrients?

I added 20 Berghia over a month ago. Pretty my wrasse got to them all because they haven’t eaten a single one. Majano wand on the way, I’m not messing around with livestock will they or won’t they.

This is why I like my 20 gallon. If I see aiptasia, I just remove the rock and frag off the aiptasia. Kalk slurry in a separate container if it is on a frag or colony.

More likely than not, your berghia nudibranchs will become an expensive and tasty meal for your six line.

I though the “f” in F aiptasia stood for something else!!

Isn’t F-Aiptaisia similar to Red Sea Aptaisia X? I find Aptaisia X is not effective long term. It will remove the Aptaisia for a week or two but then it grows back

The F Apitasia forms a crust like substance over the aiptasia, so it's our preferred method when it comes to those sort of products.

A lot of the biological controls mentioned in this video won't work, but we've found products like F Aiptasia to be effective. Kalkwasser paste typically works for Majano anemones too (use with caution).

My filefish has just finished all my zoas, doesnt bother with Aiptasia anymore and I'm 99% sure hes nibbling on my torch too

Also F Aiptasia definitely will mess with your water chemistry. It spoiled my Ph and my alkalinity rose by .5dkh instantly

What about using super glue to cover them?

Unfortunately, hydroids are much trickier and covering with epoxy seems to be the best way to go. To my knowledge, there are no natural predators of hydroids.

Most of us around the BRS office have had good luck. Some users report that large aiptasia can turn into multiple baby aiptasia, so just keep that in mind when deciding on a treatment option for your particular situation.

Keeping your peppermint shrimp well fed is bad advice. You must not go out of your way to feed them and find aptasia to damage and feed to them. You need to train them to feed on aptasia. They need to smell the damaged aptasia to then think of it as food.

the aiptasia X is pretty useless cos you wont treat all the ones you cant see. Then a week later they pops up everywhere again And you wasted money..

That price was for three shrimp, aqua-cultured. Under $17/shrimp not terrible, Probably cheaper at your LFS.
