This month alone just from NL's channel I've found RL2, Shotgun King, Peglin, Backpack Hero, Ember Knights and Loot River which are all at the very least incredibly solid games, most of which are incredibly cheap/free. The roguelite genre really is one of the best out there rn

Something he does constantly, and is annoying. He constantly lambasts people that disagree with him on everything in any game. He is pretty intelligent and witty, ill give him that. But he isn't the God he thinks he is.

@@ShineChromatica Ego, huh? I think we can do better than that. Anyway, yes it is his channel, he can do whatever he wants. I'm sure the backseating does get tiring, though it's just text, not voice. He can skip over what makes him upset. I guess I'm just coming from a place where I've been watching his SAP videos for a couple months and the last couple weeks or so he seems to be coming increasingly angry and combative to the point of insulting the intelligence of people just for a comment. I don't know if he streams/ post videos for the fun of it or not or to make money or both. But his viewers certainly donate to a cup of coffee every once in a while. I'd just say chill out, lol. Btw never caught a live stream, just what he's copied over to YT.

Imagine a collab with Levy on this where NL is coaching him on how to absolutely blast the enemy pieces into oblivion. Even better: some sort of hand and brain game with Dan where he tells Dan when to move and when to shoot.

@@clobix i feel like it's an uncanny valley situation. the black king using a shotgun is far removed from how it normally acts. but the white king plays normal besides getting adjacent to the black king

Of all the ways for that last run to end, I never would have guessed it to be in that way. Absolutely brutal end for your best run thus far.

21:08 I was listening to the ramble about how the bullets were inconsistent, and I will agree that shot was something that only RNG could actually do. That being said, I also had to rewatch the part at 19:30 to make absolutely sure there was fuckery involved, and I will say it straight- though it might seem like the bullet was wrong, because the bullet that flies off wasn't even in the arc that was guaranteed, its because of the ability that NL picked up at 17:38- Saboteur, which makes one of the bullets in the shot spread off. Of course, this also bears the question that the word should be 'Pellets', as shotguns don't fire bullets, they fire pellets in a stream. This may cause less confusion in the future, or maybe it's just me being really pedantic about shotgun physics because its my favourite kind of firearm, but I hope this little explanation helps a bit!

I think antialiasing made arc seem smaller then it actually is. NL likes to make the arc as small as possible for some reason

@@Siennarchist You're correct. For example at 14:30 he has guaranteed lethal on the bishop. At 14:50 he has guaranteed lethal on the bishop checking him. At 18:30 he may or may not have guaranteed kill on the king. It's very close (because of Sabateur) but I believe it is guaranteed. He died because of Sabateur by the way. Awful card that I personally avoid at all costs. It's a secret run killer. Immediately after at 18:50 he has guaranteed lethal on that bishop, too. Source: Check my channel

13:15 If I'm reading this right, the Ritual Dagger plus what he had already would have resulted in a situation where (with the pawns now gone) he could've one-shot sniped the king at the beginning of each round while the moat would've kept him safe from any counter?

You might be like totally right. But what if the rook that replaced the pawns was placed in front of the king? Or what if I'm order to fit the rook a bishop is moved in front of the king? But idk how the game works you might be totally right and I'm just being silly haha. Good observation regardless :)

so yes and no, in actual play the king will try and defend himself most of the time. However, with this build you would be able to one shot the king from the other side of the board. If the piece rng is good then you can definitely have some 4 or 5 move floors.

This game is pog, love the different upgrades and the card system, bustin through that horde mode was so satisfying

The animation and music combined with NL reaction to the game over are so good.

Im so hyped for this series it feels like you just combined chess commentary with isaac gameplay, i love it ! Please mister egg keep it coming

After watching you play I picked up the game and ran through till I got the final checkmate. Great game, more thought than I initially thought it would take. Solid 7.5/10 game

Important Caveat to Saboteur that I just learned about today: The one bullet that gets double Arc is actually one of the pellets that is very likely to miss as a result. This means that that card is very close to just giving -1 Power.

This new chess patch looks damn unbalanced

This only makes me want to watch NL play chess again. Truely the best time

The shield is a safety because you can gamble on a shot e.g. a rook has you in check but you gamble on the shot accuracy to kill it before it can move

The shields don't protect you from dying, they just protect you from moving into check.

WTF is you doing!?? x20 COMBO. Here's a little hint for you, NL: each chess piece type has a limited and defined movement capability. It's something you can exploit to plan ahead so it doesn't look like a toddler is playing. Hope that helps!

NL bad chess skills aside, this game looks incredible.

Also on the predictibility of damage, it seems you get one pellet on each end of the arc and the rest equally far apart. Most of the 3 dmg point blank shots are because NL yeets the outermost pellet into the void. Some markings on the arc would make the shots more clear Also if i'm totally wrong, and it's 4 random points on that arc ignore my rant

I bought this game and won after 30 minutes on 3rd attempt. Default settings (normal & 2shields).

'chesslike' games are amazing cause they seem to be made for people who cannot into chess so if you can into chess its as if you already know what to do xD

Any other 30+ year old gamers around who think the sound font in this game sounds familiar? It's really good but it's driving me nuts what it's reminding me over

I think they need to make the damage numbers visible. Like if you aim, it should tell you exactly which pieces will take damage, and how much they will take. And you should always be able to deal full damage to any adjacent piece. The RNG does not make the game fun, it ruins it.
