I don't know how you do it. I was thinking of airbrushing a body, and the most helpful channel happens to upload a video on it! Thanks bro I'm sure this will save me hours of research 🙏🏽😄

Good video.. gave me the confidence to get the tools material and body. I've been doing my own bodies which only consists of a couple but I've been using the hobby grade spray paint but after watching your video I think I'm ready to experiment. I think I'm going to experiment on a couple plastic 2 liters first but either way thanks for the great video
I have that same craftsman compressor holly cow its over 10 years old has built chicken coops remodeled a house and ran nail guns and has aired up the 35s on my truck, my wife left it outside during monsoon season out here in az one year the sun faded the paint but it still runs great 👍
Nice video Rich and you are an excellent painter. Cool look into getting the air brush I should look into one also! Mabey you’ll get your flashlight coupon next time haha. Cool air compressor also. I have to say that Black Rhino Losi in the background looks awesome I think that’s my next sc track truck!
Looks nice 👍
Nice job and they look great. Just hope they make it to UK

Thanks for the video! I cant wait to get started. I just wish Pro Line would make different bodys for stadium trucks.
Good work
I'm really keen to try these paints out. I find some other brands tend to block the nozzle too quickly. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled at my LHS for these. 👍😎👍

Yes, I know what you're saying. It's like those paints dry as they hit the airbrush tip. These PL paints didn't have a clogging issue during this paint job.
This airbrush started it all for me, I still use it as a secondary brush next to my Iwata, but I can't stress enough on the importance of a good air supply, go ahead and get a dual piston compressor with tank and save yourself some drama down the road. I'm curious about a water based ready to spray airbrush paint, if Pro-Line truly stepped up and this is good paint I'll be saying Goodbye to Faskolor!
Any durability issues like flaking? I may pick some of these up and try them since Tower will probably have them.
I have been using proline paint since February and love it. Best paint on the market.

Alway enjoy your videos ! By the way, have you tried “liquid masking”? There are all kinds of brand out there. You can airbrush them on (need a few layers), usually need to be thinned with a bit of water. They are basically water based latex rubber. With it you can create very complex designs but a lot less painful than using masking tape. Currently BittyDesign has some videos (time- lapsed) showing off really complex designs, lots of layers. I mean, you already have a airbrush set with bunch of colors, instead of just some spray cans of Tamiya. Thanks for making all these videos !
Surprisingly the harbor freight airbrush is decent for the price point. It’s now my secondary airbrush. I do most of my spraying with an Iwata Neo.

Do you know what size nozzle that harbor freight is?
Which model grex air compressor do you have? Also which tamiya and eclipse airbrush do you recommend?
Great video, love the paint but can you tell me how to protect the paint job once it’s finished?
Great video! Thanks! Do you know how manufacturers mass produce identical sophisticated painted bodies?
Excellent show! Exactly what I was looking for lately and have been nervous about starting into airbrushing. I'm motivated now and excited that you were able to use a Harbor Freight brush for lowest cost. The ProLine paints are exactly the reason I want to try to learn. So many great colors and so easy to pour and go. And of course I trust ProLine branded products because they've delivered above and beyond all these years. Few things I'm still curious about are how to set up a water filter on the air compressor (does HF have one?,) whether I can feel confident using my three gallon Harbor Freight pancake compressor and how much I should be concerned about / hoping that the Harbor Freight brush will spray to ProLine specs of using a 0.5mm tip. I'm assuming that when you slid the needle back you were making this adjustment? As always another informative and motivational video from you guys! Please keep up the great work and I love to explore every personalization facet of the hobby beyond just bash, repair / upgrade / bling, bash again.
As also being a plastic model builder besides rc hobbies all modelling paints revell tamiya mr.color vallejo or so on can be applied with airbrush to the rc bodies. The important thing is to finish the last coat with a water resistant varnish or a regular black spray can paint

Can you use a regular air compressor ? I already have a shop air compressor wondering if I can use that?
Did the paint rub off easy? And is the inside texture grainy? I just sprayed body with proline and it’s grainy on inside for some reason
Did you have to coat the finished job with a clear to stop the paint from scratching off
Any idea what this paint is like with regards fumes ? I use tamiya ps sprays which absolutely stink
can you use any airbrush gun or kit to spray these paints or do you need a specific kind?
I didn't see a reply to questions about the paint flaking off the first time you take the truck out. I spend a lot of time making my bodies looks great and the first run the paint is flaking off. Any tips to get better adhesion?
I might have to give Proline paint a go. Hope they come out with more colors in the future.

Be interesting to see if they come out with more. I'm really liking the pearls and metalics they have now.
??? so this is good for lexan bodies? and what do you need to clean the airbrush with? does it have its own thinner like Tamiya does?
Cool!! Never tried the masking tape I always use liquid mask, I watched hemistorm he uses tape also.I'm horrible at trimming out designs on the body! Have to give the tape try. Cool vid definitely going to try this paint next body!👍🍻

If I'm in a rush, a good masking tape is the way to go. If I have time or want really fine details, I'll go with the liquid mask. Thanks for watching!!

how is this paint water based compared to the regular lacquer paint?
Looks absolutely Smashing......... 8^)
I have a kobalt 26-gal, 150-PSI electric portable air compressor can I use that to spray paint on my body's?
Pretty GOOD job, especially since you said it's been sometime since you painted. Are you sure about the time since you've painted?
Are these paints good for hard bodies as well, or just lexan?
The tape seems to cut nicely what is it
Can you do a video on painting the proline xmaxx brute body? They say it’s not recommended to paint but you can heat the ptfe plastic and it will receive paint!
Is that Green translucent? The reason I ask is I'm wanting to do an Olive metallic for my Rubicon body I have for my Summit. My buddy said he achieved the color on one of his bodies by using Wicked Apple Green and backing it with Pro-Line Pewter, but all I have is all of the Pro-Line Paints and a medium supply of Faskolor paints, so I'm wondering if I could get close to the color I'm wanting with the the Pro-Line Green backed with Pro-Line Pewter. Any info will be much appreciated.
can you mix two colors together??
I can paint and airbrush. What I'm not used to is laying it down backwards. Like fiberglass. Idea that just popped in my head, get a piece of glass. Practice masking, spraying, and doing accent split colors on it. Then you can see it and clean it off to try something else.
This really looks like the old Faskolor paints. I ordered two sets of these Pro-Line and I'll compare them to my old Faskolors.

what's your experience with the pro-line paint? I'm thinking about trying them but I do not really trust the adherence because is water based.
I'd get one of the cheap Amazon airbrush kits with the hvlp top feed. Still 20ish bux, more user friendly for beginners. I'm just starting into RC bodies for my son, and airbrushing backwards is so foreign to me.
What do you use to clean the airbrush? Do you need any paint thinners or anything like that to clean the paint out with?
I wanna pick your brain on a painting idea I’m considering going with this ECX Amp monster truck building kit I want to paint so the bed looks like wood stain and Crome hold down strips all with paint and masking thanks
What would you recommend to back up metallic green or do I need a backup?

That depends on how dark or light you want the color. if you want it to be darker, use black. if you want it to be lighter, use white

Sounds like a cool project!
Will this paint work on hard plastic bodies?
A useful thing to do is to open the top of these air paints (or any paint that requires thorough mixing), and place a small ball bearing (5mm to 10mm) inside. Expensive paints for miniatures (table top gaming) almost always come with an agitator ball like that (metal or plastic for cost) - RC paints rarely do.
A great way to practice is with food coloring dye on your painting book,or canvas, it cleans up easy it doesn't clog the nozzle and it's cheap you can really practice, it doesn't make a super duper mess and doesn't smell,
I wish I had found the Proline RC paint easy to use. Not sure whether I had a bad bottle, but mine wouldn't spray at all nicely, very spattery, despite using an airbrush with a 0.5mm needle & nozzle at 35psi. Adhesion I found was not good at all. So I ended up stripping the Proline RC paint off, which unfortunately I think has weakened the body shell (TRX4 Sport). I ended up just repainting using Tamiya PS Spray cans.
Hey. Great video man. I was contemplating on weather or not to get this paint. The only grey area for me is, how much paint do you consume painting a whole body? Will 1 of those small bottle do more than 1 body? Thanks.

Great job Greg! I'm also giving their paints a go! Did you find that they adhered really well after drying?
@rcdriver
5 жыл бұрын
Thanks SBG! Although I haven't driven with the painted body yet, the paint seems to adhere well. The day after painting, there was still some tack to the paint. I was able to scrape some paint off the lexan with my finger nail when applying hard pressure. A few days after the paint job, it appears to be fully cured. I tried scratching the paint again and it didn't come off the test sample.
@menso3852

How did your adherence experiments go? I just finished my first bodyshell with Hobbynox paints the the other day but I don't dare to race with it because the paint comes off so easily. I used tried their "Intercoat/clear" but it was super gloopy and didn't spray so well.

@@menso3852 I've had the same experience. I've now painted three bodies with Pro-line fluorescent yellow airbrush paint backed with Pro-line white airbrush paint. Even days or weeks later, the paint just scrapes off extremely easily. I'm thinking of trying Spaz Stix enamel based airbrush paint for the next body.
@rworden96
Жыл бұрын
Yep, the paint sucks. Professional painters recommend backing the water based airbrush paints (proline, createx, etc.) in a clear coat rust oleum or krylon spray paint… I’ve tried that and it does help the issue but it will still scratch off inside fairly easily
👍

When you are cutting the masking tape so that you can peal off a section/strip, how do you keep from scoring the plastic body or does that matter? Great video. 👍

I'm guessing it's a matter of practice, but you're going to have some amount of scoring anyway since the blade should be sharp enough to form nice, clean lines in the masking.
