If you had to live with just one car, would you pick a 2010 Audi R8 manual or 2011 Audi R8 automatic?? In today's video we take a look at a 2011 Audi R8 V10 provided by Maserati Lotus Greenville.. www.maseratilotusgreenville.com/
This is the first time I have been behind the wheel of this car and it was definitely a lot of fun to drive! Well, not really the first, since I have the same car minus the engine. The shifting with this auto provides a lot of drama in between shifts and oh does it sound good on the downshifts! This spec has way more carbon fiber options on it then my car does and definitely looks very cool! For practicality, it's has a useable trunk to put in enough items for two people for a car of this size. There is room behind the seats to which is actually usable space. But the biggest thing is the sound of that stock V10 when you get on the gas!
So now the big question is which would you take?? Manual V8 or Auto V10? This is a tough decision, I personally love the manual obviously because that is what I bought, but after driving the auto, I wouldn't not buy the auto. It is just as fun to drive and could not imagine what this car would sound like with the Armytrix exhaust and the rev matching downshifts on it would sound incredible! If this situation was present to me the day I bought my car, it definitely would not have been an easy decision, the only factor however is the price difference. The V10 will cost you about $15-$20K more which is obviously a good amount. So when it comes down to it, I think you can truly have just as much fun in the V8 as the V10! I can feel where the lower end power of the V10 has a lot more to offer, which is nice for faster exits out of a turn, but the balance and handling of the V8 is just as fun! So what is your final decision - V8 or V10??

gasolara2002 but its slow!.... and the engine loses very much power due to extreme carbon buildup in the intakemanifold and on the valves

That V10 has a really nice stock growl, ]But your exhaust on the V8 does open it up... But I must say that V10 takes the cake!!

next video, im swapping a v10 in my r8 lol. ill take the manual over auto anyday sure the auto is faster but hearing the click from the shiftgate is satisfying even when driving in a slow commute btw that cf lip and splitter would be a nice mod for the r8

As much as I prefer a Manual, my brother has a new V10 Plus and you will want the V10, even if it's not a plus.

I bought a manual v8 about 2 months ago and loving it. There were only 2 manual v8s for sale in Australia when I bought mine, now zero. There is only one manual v10 like $100k more in price than a v8!as they are so rare. That original r-tronic automatic is very clunky so my choice would still be the v8 manual :)

Very cool!! I love my V8, so much fun to drive and I can't justify spending more for the V10! And yeah, you need the manual, the auto is slow!
I daily an R8 V8 2015 Automatic. Honestly, I could not be bothered riding the clutch in traffic plus the double clutch can change way quicker than I ever could. Manuals are nice but only for weekends not for every day, it's a bit of a hassle. As for what you should buy, look for the R8 model that has the double clutch, it's a vast improvement!

I'm mean come on... 2014 Audi R8 V10 Plus, Duel Clutch 7 speed auto, V10 Lamborghini Engine producing 550hp and 400 ft pounds of torque, a 0 to 60 of 3.5 seconds (its actually 3.2). Not only is it an Exotic but with these numbers it now qualifies as an Exotic Supercar. I do love rowing my own gears (I own a 2016 STI) but given the choice... it's a no brainer. That being said, I'd stick with your gated V8 until you can move up to at least a 2014 with a Duel Clutch to make it worth it.
Brilliant review, really helpful. I'm in the same predicament at the moment. Most reviews I watch and read hate the R Tronic, thats my problem. I want the V10 but most models in my price bracket are R tronic..... FFS.

You can find some manuals for a reasonable price, I found a few that were about 10k more than my V8 which is still a good bit, but they are out there!

I'm really not sure which one. Can you please send both cars my way so I can compare one to another. It's only fair that I give each vehicle an honest review by testing them out.😉 Let me know where to send the address to gets the cars sent over. 👍😂 But seriously, the V10 sounds more refined, where your car sounds more aggressive. Now for looks, I'd go with your car.
With the choice of just V8 Manual or V10 with DCT I might just have to edge to the V8 if it wasn't my daily, to keep as a weekend toy. But V8 or V10 with the generally higher trim and the mileage, even with the DCT I would probably have to go for the V10 especially if it was a car I used the most.

I almost daily my manual v8! Such a fun car!! The auto is just too slow of a transmission for me at least on the first gen cars!

@@BrosFOURRSpeed Its a very tough choice, I have never owned (have driven them though) any kind of DCT or robotised single clutch or slushbox with paddles myself so the DCT would feel very alien to me. Your V8 is really nice though, great car to own now as manuals are evaporating.
I would definitely pick up the v10 automatic.......Have you guys recieved the silver play button if not KZread is very late.....

V10, without question! You left room to upgrade when you got the V8, so stop teasing yourself and make the switch!!! The color is weird though, so wrap it (not in wrapping paper though...)

Is the r8's 4.2 v8 engine the r8's 5.2 v10 engine with 2 cylinders less?

Technically no. It's not the same engine. But they both are great options! The 5 cylinder in the RS3 is half the V10 in the R8 tho

The V8 could use more power, but the V10 is honestly not much faster. You're basically just paying for the badge lol. Having the V10 might be cooler, but in normal daily driving, it's not much quicker at all! But I agree gated all the way!!

@@drj7328 It does sound good, but with my Fi exhaust it sounds great too! I’m on my second V8 with no AC replacements, but the engine has to come out on the V10! More costly than the V8! It’s easier to maintain! Nothing wrong with the V10, I just can’t see spending twice as much for one right now!
v10 sounds more exotic, V8 sounds mean/classic but just not as special as the v10 sound. Personally I think the V10 sound fits the exotic looks better.

What would be your reasoning behind that? Aside from the V10 badge on the side and some more power, honestly I don't see spending the extra money for that. A V10 Lamborghini would be even cooler then a v10 R8!

The Audi R8 Manual is known as one of the best manual transmissions of all time. This makes it super easy to choose. The Auto is nothing special compared to hundreds of other sports cars.

For the difference in price, get the V8 manual. If you’ve got the coin, be patient and only make the jump for a manual V10. Either manual will save you probably close to $20k in the long run.
Auto v10
I would love a v10.... but it all comes down to which has the fun transmission. V10 ya cool but the v8 has the manual which provides more fun and satisfaction than an auto. So I go v8 manual.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed the motor is rock solid , just the electronics can be finiky at times. Dont get me wrong i love the v,10s i just hear the v8,s can take much more abuse. Daily driven exotics was talking about that. Thats all. The v8 is lighter on the bank when stuff does go wrong if it should . I love them both there both crazy cool.

@@RICHIE_RICH89 I had some minor electric issues, but nothing crazy. I do know when the ac goes out on the v8 you have to pull the engine! That's the only major issue with it if it goes.

you could have the worlds fastest jet powered vehicle and they'll always be that one guy that will say it's not good enough. You have a sweet car that most are not willing to delay gratification to put away enough $ and/or planing in order to obtain. So just enjoy it!

Have you been able to drive both of them to compare? What hate on the V8? Honestly it's not that much faster and now with them costing twice as much as the v8, to me it's not worth it. I bought my second V8 this year and it's a blast! You have to drive it first before you say you don't like it!
