How could anyone not give this a thumbs up? Two beautiful amazing guitars! You guys definitely have skills! And patience too! Cutting all the birds and then carving out the holes for them. That's an incredible amount of work! Carving the body too! Everything is just gorgeous! You guys should be making and selling your own brand of custom guitars! Great work! I give 2 thumbs up!👍👍😎

Just a suggestion for anyone wanting to build their own guitar. Be creative! I understand the desire to make a guitar that you would love, but if you're just going to make everything to spec with a guitar that already exists, you're missing out on an opportunity to express yourself in the design phase of the build. Maybe use your favourite guitars as inspiration for your design, but copying is pretty lame, not to mention it's false representation of the company's work. Worse yet, is actually putting the company's logo on it as if they made it. Anyway, if you make your own design that you like, you'll appreciate it all the more. Plus, more people are likely to ask about your unique guitar. And I'm not looking for an argument, just stating my opinion of why I think you should be your own person not a copycat. I've only designed my dream guitar so far, but some day (when I am able to), I plan to actually build it.

Really nice work and impressive talent! Now that you've "cloned" the PRS, time to dream up your own look and feel that expresses your personal nature and relationship with guitars! Simple suggestions...do the math and build up a 26 fret neck, or arch the headstock, or a super-deep cut away on the body under the neck...something to make it different and unique! Good work! Don't let the haters drag you down!

I think it doesn't have to be a PRS model, but whatever works and so on. The impressive thing to me is the quality of the 5a or 4a maple top used. That is expensive wood to begin with and if you screw it up, that a costly thing. The paint job is what I think is also another very very very important thing on why PRS charges what it does. The dragon's Breath series does have some nice woods in it, with the expensive hardware, but aside from that 5a maple top, it is the same as their 5K dollar amount, but add that timely paint job, which is a huge endeavor, I think they add thousands of dollars for the craftmanship and time it takes to get that finish the way it is. I would love to do something like that for just that reason. You can't touch a 5A maple quilted finish for under 4K in almost any brand guitar name. I can't think its because of the other items on the guitar, if I am wrong, please enlighten me. Loved this vid as well, hard work paid off!

awesome work, i would love to have this guitar but unless you crystallize the wood resin the same as smith(witch no one does) it won't have the tone or sustainability. you should work for him to learn how and then go on you own.

I didn't and i will not , only , i will make some , what is not on market , but i will mention only 1 thing ! You scrap so much of a nice maple , around 3 cm ( very expensive in EU ! ) until y get a real measure , which , has to be from 1 to 1,5 cm final , depend of a back wood , thickness and wood choice . Bravo for economy ! Regards !

hmmm. well its never good to have drastic changes in temperature/humidity in rough construction phase, the wood will warp (even amounts too small to see right away) and things will not be plumb and stable later in life. are you doing all of the work by hand ?? no band saw? planer? sounds like a lot more work than its worth, if you make any kind of decent living (can save up $1800 for a good used PRS in a year or 2). Do you have an appropriately set hot room to crystalize the resin in the wood for stability and resonance? a controlled spray environment? I'm not saying its impossible to make a quality instrument at home with some skill and experience in at least woodworking, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to make a guitar on par with a real PRS without a lot of experience, skill, and expensive equipment. Its not something that can be done from home by the average joe just cause "you want it real bad". I know I sound like a dick, maybe I am know knows

  • @kentekent

+Captain August Well, Im not building outside now. It's to cold. I should have mentioned that. When winter is over I will get back out side. You can always have your wood planed, either at the place you buy it or at the local furniture maker. Furthermore, building a guitar from scratch is something you do because you like building things, not because you have the money to buy the finished product. The whole point of building your own guitar is how proud you will be when its finished. Lastly, you don't need a lot of expensive equipment to make a quality guitar. Just watch the video. The only thing a that might be sub-par is the paint-job. Its hard to tell really.
