You aren't climbing because you don't think like this. Learn Overwatch With Me!

Ойындар

ITS ALL ABOUT MINDSET MY FRIENDS. This video shows how I approach learning a new hero! I started in plat on tracer and hit GM1 last season on her, but I still have a lot to improve on. Adopting this mindset will make you climb in overwatch super fast :)

If youre bronze, its better to play easier to use heroes such as Soldier 76 than Tracer on DPS. Tracer requires good skill cooldown management and mechanical skill for her to be strong, so she is not good for beginners.

I've been learning Tracer and basically while flanking and fighting, I always try to have a "reserve blink," so two are for using creatively/aggressively and one is for using in emergencies. If I know I have to double blink, I just hold cover until I have all three unless it's like overtime or something and I have no choice. It basically upgrades her kit from one escape (recall) to two escapes. I think I picked it up from a Tracer guide from back in the Overwatch 1 days. Good times.

No…. If you have a blink you should use it in the 1v1. There’s no reason to save it in the 1v1. A 2v1 is a different story and typically you shouldn’t be taking more then one enemy.

Im nowhere your level but a good piece of advice I heard back in the day that I think feels pretty good for blink management is to use your blinks the way you'd use zarya bubbles, you try to always have at least 1 blink up and try to keep your blink until you're almost at 2.5 seconds before using, so that you always have blinks stocked up for emergencies or for a quick sudden engagement if you still have recall up. I find I never quite run out of blinks this way and always have enough for whatever maneuver Im trying to pull

An underrated tip for getting better and climbing (no matter rank or hero): Focus on yourself. How many times have we got tilted, and then, distracted about dumb things? If the game is hard, playing it and being distracted just makes it worse -and typing arguing in chat, do not do that-! HealthyGamerGG has a good video about the "flow state"... it helps a lot with your approach to playing competitive games (or even everything).

every time i start to get frustrated by my teammates, i make a conscious effort to think about whatever mistake i noticed from my teammate, and how i contributed to it or something i also could have done differently to maybe change the outcome of the fight. it's helped me a lot to unlearn some of the blamey mentality i've picked up, to the point where i almost always focus on my mistakes first and i only have to consciously think about myself if we're getting steam rolled in an unusually frustrating game. if i ever start to have a thought that begins with "they" i immediately finish it, and begin again with "i".

Watching eskay play tracer is giving me ptsd from when I was shit at tracer ToT she’s not easy. Engagement timing, mechanics, target priority, effective, range, movement, audio ques, matchup knowledge, map knowledge. The difference between tracer and the rest of the roster is that if you mess up sometimes just 1 of those things, you die. But yeah players like gale think they should bring back all the abilities that used to one shot her randomly and also nerf her.

She has been 6 damage per pellet since effecticely release, and now despite the projectile size buff, along with the hp buff it is effectively just as difficult to one clip as before. The dps passive just disproportionately affected her as she could take any angle and proc it on several people safely, denying the ability to use cover to remove it. Effectively its just the dps passive along with her 175 hp which just avoids many of the previous 150hp thresholds. The damage is not and has not been the issue for a long time

I commend your ability to actually generate targeted goals and truly focus on them as a means of improving rather than just playing to win. It really helps defaulting and its been a godsend to save my mental. Also, a general tip that helped a ton with a lot of characters and especially tracer, is that if you are using movement cooldowns to get somewhere you could get by walking (ex. changing angles behind cover/out of danger) then you are being lazy and impatient and in an effort to decrease your downtime you are actually increasing it

Playing tracer taught me that I have a HORRIBLE habit of holding down three directional keys at the same time. I think maybe I never unlearned it when I first started playing because the characters I played were not challenging or specific movement-wise. Apparently I unconsciously learned to RELEASE the directional key opposite to where I want to move, instead of just pressing ONLY the appropriate key. I played like that for years and never noticed. Honestly baffling how my brain works sometimes 🙄

Just a thing to know - when you want to pulse bomb - instead of throwing it forward in a line - you should be throwing it at the feet of the enemy -/ it does more than 1 thing the lower body hitbox it bigger and as u aim at feet you won't over throw your pulse so if it doesn't *hit* it could be close enough to kill without stick or at least do a little damage also

Hey Eskay I don’t think you will see this but it might help someone else climb as well. You talked about feeling overwhelmed when you talked about trying to also focus on aiming with movement as well as all the other things. The solution to this is to NOT focus on a bunch of things at once. For example, for a number of hours just focus on blink usage and recall usage and “autopilot” everything else. Eventually you won’t need to think about those things and good usage will become your autopilot. Then you will move on to something else. Obviously you will have to cycle back to ability usage as your focus as you climb higher. Naturally though, when learning a new character in this you will loose SR temporarily as you make plenty of mistakes. Although you WILL be learning at a very fast rate. Ironically, to climb you have to not care about climbing. You can’t think about winning and loosing. You have to just focus on your own performance. Which is incredibly difficult. Though can be trained over time. Thank y’all for coming to my TED Talk lmao
