So the reason Callie is so powerful, according to Lottie, is that she is the only biological child we know of from the survivors. She has inherited all the qualities of the various people consumed in the wilderness.

I took van speaking to Travis saying let your brother save your life as a veiled threat. Imagine if Travis refused to let the girls eat Javi. He likely would have to fight them and would also due. Van telling him let javi save you would mean two things for Travis. You must allow us this meal and you must consume him as well. Tragic

Fey, love the deep dive into Greek Mythology. I think you're spot-on. Your video inspired me to learn more, and I found a few other things that connect with your examples... Along the lines of Apollo, Dionisis, and Demeter... The story of Persephone, tricked by Hades to eat Pomegranate seeds that bound her to hell. Demeter becomes depressed and the land experiences drought and decay. The result is that "The Fates" have to step in a strike a deal for shared custody, thus the 4-6 months P is in hell are the winter months, and the months she is reunited with Demeter are the spring/summer. I see lots of connections here with... The Winter, the idea that seasons/nature is a trade-off/balance. The eating of the Pomegranate from hell, where the rule is that if you eat something in hell, then you can no longer escape hell. This is a great juxtaposition to the Genesis A&E story where the snake tricks Eve into eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge, which doesn't send her to hell, but expels her from Eden. I think one can make a connection here with the YJ cannibalism and eating forbidden fruit. ALSO, "The Fates" or Moirai. I think deep diving into that myth is worth it. First, they are three women who each have a role as well as symbology associated. They exist outside the rest of the god pantheon, and they usually appear in myths by indirect interaction with the hero(s), for example using mediums like the Oracle at Delphi, who convey the messages of prophesy from the fates, to the humans. Persephone is one of the few cases where the Moirai have to intervene directly in earthly affairs. You could also say they spoke through Merlin as the who revealed prophesy to the Arthurian universe. I think this connects to the way Young Lottie was seen as a medium in Season 1. Plus this show is Definitely touching on ideas of Fate/Determinism vs Choice/Free Will. Also the story arc is one of Birth - Transformation - Death - Rebirth. Also the knife pendulum that was making the infinity symbol during the seance correlates to the endless, perpetual cycle of changing seasons and the process of death and rebirth. But I'm just a fan and you're the Lore expert, so I'm interested if you resonate with any of those ideas. Thanks again for all your videos.

Yes, I love all of this! I agree, the power of three comes forth a lot in this story. Whether the Fates, the Erinys, Hecate as the triple goddess. I love the connection to Merlin as well, I see him all the time in this story, and many other Arthurian connections. The knife creating the 8 feels so important. I used that clip at the end of my cards video. Javi asks if they are all going to die, and the knife creates the 8. Both Misty and Tai drew 8's later, which also feels connected. All of it seems to stem back to the infinite, endless cycle as you said. Thanks so much for watching, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the great commentary!

@@FeyFire Thank you very much for your feedback. I truly admire and appreciate all the Genuine and inspiring knowledge in your expression... That said, I was also thinking Hecate. However!! Then I found Cernunnos!!! A Celtic Pagan Legend. He's mostly symbolic iconic than used in literature, but gathering what is known, he's a god of animals, nature, and the circle of life cycle. The pics show him as a meditating Buddha in the forest, but Most Importantly, he's part stag with antlers, and his silhouette looks basically just like the Antler Queen. Might be fun to look up if you weren't already into that Celtic diety.

Thank you for this thought-provoking video. It helped me find a puzzle piece of my own theories, AND I think it helps tie two of your theories together. I was so focused on the show's many Paganism and Animism symbology, I totally missed the Catholic imagery, but you nailed it. I love the show juxtaposing these religious/spiritual schools of thought. Along the lines of this/your video, YJ Ep9 (i feel) was really beating the drum about "Sacrifice", and how it can be expressed in different ways. What I see is the difference between Willing/Self-Sacrifice, ex. Jesus, in episode 9 = Jeff and Natalie. Versus Being a Non-Voluntary Sacrifice (for the greater good, or specific ritual,) ex. an Aztec person sacrificed to the Sun God, in episode 9 obviously dead detective,. also Lottie stated the rules of the hunt sacrifice, Shauna had the chance to go willingly or be hunted, she chose to run/not self-sacrifice... Now, for the connection. In this video when you mention the feast of Jackie marks the group's departure from "Innocence". This reminded me of your first YJ video about the idea of the wilderness, and that Laura Lee and Jackie were the first to go, because they did not surrender to the wilderness. What if we add that, the wilderness knew that their characters would not Sacrifice their own moral code of ethics, even for self-preservation, they would not chose to lose their innocence. ALSO, now Natalie's convo with Jackie's bones has become more relevant. Natalie basically said Jackie is lucky to die, (early/Innocent) rather than live with the burden of their ethical dilemmas (which she knows will mean sacrificing their innocence) just to keep surviving.

If you want another interesting note to the parallel between Shawna as Demeter and Jackie as Persephone, along with the vision of Shawna’s baby being destroyed as Zagreus was, in an even older myth of Dionysus, he’s the son of Demeter. He’s still torn apart by titans and then reborn, but this makes him and Persephone siblings both connected by nature and death and both children of the earth and the sky. God I love Greek mythology.

@@FeyFire please do! I’m not an expert in Greek mythology by any means, but it’s fascinating! I had assumed the banquet scene when consuming Jackie’s body was only done for a one-off poetic scene, but I’d love to see how the other themes of Greek mythology connect! Now that I’m thinking about it, ‘96 Natalie is very Artemis. She’s the master of the hunt, Travis/Javi embody Orion….. next season will be so interesting with the Orphic religion element and Coach Ben literally entering the underworld. I wish we could get an episode or two dedicated to Javi, as he has clearly gone through the whole Jungian hero’s journey

The directing of the butchering sequence from shauna covering her eyes trying to sense the frozen vein then moving the blade above Javi’s body toward his throat to blood dripping on the snow was a picturesque requiem . Leather being the skin of dead animals, but the belt was Jackie's, who is dead; so it kind of felt like the belt WAS Jackie, and they were eating a symbolic meal of her in the soup. Yum! 🍲
