I think Danielle's death still remains Eastenders most heart-wrenching & cruel twist. Poor Ronnie had misery & tragedy piled on her time & time again.

This was the days when Eastenders was unmissable. Not anymore though. Haven’t watched it for years and have no desire to. Tried recently but lost interest within 5 mins. I’ll just cherish the memories of EE’s golden years like this one.

Fr it used to be quality TV and gripping never missed an episode, haven't watched in ages but if I catch it on tv I'm appalled that it's absolute dogshit now, there's no thought or respect for the legacy of the show, no interesting characters, no charisma or groundbreaking storylines, every scene is dull. I wouldn't even care if it was cancelled but it's painful to see how bad it is. 2017 was the last good year imo

Hands down one of the best but saddest storylines I've ever seen in all the years I've watched EastEnders they never should have killed of Danielle Ronnie could have actually been happy for once but incredible acting​ from Larry Lamb Samantha womack and Lauren Crace.

Nothing on television has ever touched me like this did was heartbroken for months after danielle died so wrong to make us wait so long for them to be together as mother and daughter and then take it away

Ronnie really went through hell when it came to her kids.

I know this is just a show but Danielle's death is one of the most tragic events to happen in EE. It was her death led to Ronnie downfall, misery, even though Ronnie did get some happiness before her demise, she could never get over Danielle's death. This storyline did leave an impact on me, was devasted when Danielle's died, I think the concept of a mother and daughter never reuniting got to me. People can argue, yeah it's just a show but this was when EE was at it's best and I just wished, this had a happier ending. I will also say, if Danielle didn't die, Stacey wouldn't have had a breakdown or be sectioned, Danielle would have been there for her best mate.

well Stacey did end up killing him i'm sure a part of her felt like she was avenging Amy's death as well. Archie also raped her so she had plenty of motives to want him dead. Archie was a sick man and he deserved to be killed. well done Stacey for taking him out.

This should have been on during the lockdown as one of the classic episofes

Eastenders 2008 is on the iPlayer now. It airs on 4 episodes a week from bbc 4. Archie has just been introduced as a character on the episodes they are showing. I assume they are going to continue showing them hopefully up until the end of this storyline.

1:40 when you realise that your granddad has lied to you about one of the most precious moments of your life....that your mother never wanted you and deep down, your mother always wanted you.

Such a fantastic storyline! The acting is phenomenal

It reminded me of Romeo & Juliet except in a mother- child way both longing to be reunited just to die tragically

Lauren is beautiful, I was lucky enough to see her on stage such a talented actress, she signed my program thank you Lauren

I remember the writer said in an interview that if Danielle didn't die she'd have a relationship with Ronnie and do things together and he said that would've been boring, still remains a massive mistake

I agree, massive mistake. Ronnie and Danielle could have done things together that would have wound up and humiliated that deceitful character Archie. There could have been plots and scheming fron both sides. Instead Danielle's sudden death was script writing at its worse. And, that it was caused by Jamine, whose on-sreen character dad, Frank, was also the cause of a road death several years earlier makes the whole thing totally not plausible. I think the script writer missed an opportunity.

It was one of the most effectively hard-hitting & unforgettable things Eastenders ever did. You may not like it because you want a happy-ending pay-off but Danielle's character & the storyline wouldn't have been half as memorable if you got it. It upset a lot of people, that's good drama TV which is what Eastenders is at the end of the day.

Its a shame we had to wait nearly a whole year before Danielle FINALLY told Ronnie this.

I remember. That was a good but heartbreaking story, as a fan you desperately wanted to see them reunited again and when they did it was too late. Horrible writers 😢

One of my favourite episodes of Eastenders. I remember watching this and her death shocked me so much. Fantastic episode.

When her daughter got killed in front of her just as she realised the truth . I stopped watching . It was just too much misery.

I would have loved to have seen the relationship Danielle could've had with Amy today, I think she would've been able to help Amy with her MH issues. One of the BIGGEST mistakes the show did was kill off Danielle. Still angry after 15 years

Never got over this death really wanted Ronnie to be happy for once and wish they had scenes together as Mother and Daughter.

Don't forget Ronnie was completely manipulated and controlled by her father since she was a child. She would believe him over some random girl who appears out of nowhere claiming to be her daughter. The daughter who she was told had died as an infant. Yes it's annoying how Ronnie didn't believe her, but it's realistic because of her abusive dad getting to her head.

On BBCIPLAYER, when 2008 finishes, can you do 2009?

My father once said of this soap: "They live like paupers...and they have weddings like millionaires. What kind of a soap is this?"

Superb acting from both. Still to this day though why on earth an agreement was made to kill off Ronnie and Roxy was granted ill never understand. Surely it wasnt just down to one man! What were they thinking?. Especially pretty much within 6months of killing off Peggy. 3 Mitchell Women/Characters gone. Ronnie & Roxy were legends. Practically untouchable. And that's rare to build and get characters like that. Surely the team know it was wrong? What do you think?

All character storylines get repetitive over the years. Also other characters manage to stand the test of time regardless of repeated and dull storylines. Getting rid of the mitchell sisters will forever be a travesty in soap history.

@@stevewood238 Just a lame excuse, there hasn't been anywhere left to go with Phil Mitchell for over a decade now yet they write 1000 storylines for him which end up with him going in and out of prison ALL THE TIME

Danielle's death was script writing at its very worse. And even more unbelievable that it was caused by Jamine, whose on-screen dad, Frank Butcher, also caused a road death several years earlier. Do these script writers sit around a table and seriously come up with these ideas thinking that the public will think it is a super story line? Then later, Archie is murdered by Stacy, as though she would have the physical strength of lifting a solid brass bust (and like he did not hear the footsteps of someone entering the pub and noise from outside??). Very good actors let down by cheap and unbelievable script writing.
