I believe it’s mainly because it’s pure evil and it’s beyond Ronnie’s character. I doesn’t make sense for a great woman like Ronnie to do something like this and live with something like this for the rest of her life. Plus, everyone would hate Ronnie and everything she went through goes out the window because of this act. Frankly, I’m glad they pulled the plug much sooner.

The reason was because the public found it an inacurate and insensitive portrayal of cot death and just the timing of it wasn't right. As someone, who had a family member that just had the second infant death in two years about a week before this was broadcast, this killed EastEnders for me. Never watched a full episode again. It had jumped shark YEARS before, but this was just disgusting. People were still talking about it's gritty realism then, 😂. This was just cheap sensationalism that was fine for Bryan Kirkwood at Hollyoaks, but crass for BBC flagship EastEnders!

For those who don’t understand the backlash against this storyline I’ll explain from my point of view, please be kind. This storyline feeds into the tired tropes that those of us who have lost children would seek to replace them with another child which just isn’t possible they are irreplaceable, the idea that we would snatch someone else’s child because our own has died is sadly something people still do believe. It also encourages people to believe that once a mother loses a child she’ll lose her mind completely and start doing crazy things, again people believe this is true and it’s not the case. It’s devastating and life changing losing a child but that doesn’t mean we are “crazy” child snatchers. The only thing any mother wants when they lose a child is to have their own baby back, their baby not anyone else’s. Yes it’s just a soap but a lot of these storylines feed into the way people think. Eastenders have since approached a few different baby loss storylines in significantly better ways, still room for improvement, it would be nice to see Jack actually mention his son James, rather than just getting married around or on his birthday/date of death for example. Him and Ronnie getting married around James’ birthday or possibly even on it and not even mentioning the significance of the date made no sense. The children we lose are never forgotten, except in soap!

Also the concept that Ronnie would sit back and let another family have her dead child and cradle him and bury him is just lunacy. I know a lot of people had problems with this storyline. Me personally it was must see television back then. Was an elite story. I think people over reacted a bit. End of the day it’s a soap, and yes it should show of real life issues properly, But also it should have that soap edge as well. I think you could see in Ronnie the actual grief of losing her third child. And we saw the effects of SIDS in Kat and Ronnie. And then of course the added thing of the baby swap for extra drama. Was it necessary to have the two together. Probably not. But at least you could see reasoning behind ronnies action. And it’s fiction as we’ll. And I thought it was executed and ended great. Unlike let’s say the Gray storyline. Where it went from domestic abuse to serial killer.

Am i the only one that totally disliked Ronnie since she was too much of a control freak at times and a attention seeker at the same time??

@@deanjohnston5699 Yeah but their were times she was a cow and completely out of order like the way she treated Charlie and Roxy for example, causing Fatboy's death, stole Kat and Alfie's baby and threatened to evict them and the way she treated Danielle aswell!!

When a baby girl is born it is tender loving care galore. Her mother (especially) ensures she is breastfed as long as possible, she is kissed/cuddled constantly, she eats organic and is never beaten for misbehaving. When someone criticises her the slightest they suffer the severe consequences! When a boy is born he is very quickly weaned off his mother's milk, is fed lower quality food and is beaten for misbehaving and told to "man up". Honestly female humans are treated with utter kid gloves. No wonder they outlive men by 6 years!!!
