I love John Paul and he does deserve better but where's the excitement and drama in that? I agree though, I wish he could just have a little moment of peace and happiness.

They’re both exceptional. Wonderful actors. Carter’s puppy eyes when he’s with John Paul.

A first class example of electric chemistry between two amazing actors. Just love them!

This acting scene here is really good. The actor who plays Carter, i feel, is using his own experiences here in this part, and as a straight man, the actor playing John Paul does a great job.

Carter is sending some mixed signals here 😅 Sleeping with a guy to convert him to straight, now that is an interesting tactic...

I think we need to know more about Carter's childhood, and I know some parts were said here but a lots happened since then and there's clearly been a lot of abuse and neglect within that family. SPOILER: When he speaks to Lucas about his father, he tells him that he knows what it's like. He talks the talk about having a terrible childhood and we know nothing! Kind of need to know now honestly 🤣

I was eating when I was watching this and man, the way my mouth fell open and I stopped eating? The chemistry they had was undeniable. Kicking my legs and giggling over their kiss but Carter needs help for his own conversion.

Correct. Carter's entire argument could be applied to any straight person who's faced one delimma after the next. Their problems, like John Paul's, has nothing to do with their sexuality.

I think Carter is just shielding himself from his true emotions. He was brainwashed at a young age and to me there’s a sense of guilt and shame whenever he feels something intimate towards another guy.

Now lets flip the script and have John Paul help Carter. It is clear Carter was raised in a very toxic environment with toxic people around him and very backward views were pushed on him and it made Carter feel scared and ashamed to be himself and embrace this part of himself. Yes John Paul has a healing journey to go on for the things that happened in his life like Finn and George and the crash and his alcohol problem. Those are his demons that he is battling but none of them demons are becasue he is gay and Carter needs to realise that. Carter also has a healing journey to go on in undoing all the toxic stuff that was brainwashed into him and understanding that being gay is not a bad thing and that being gay also doesn;t mean you have to stop being religious. there are many many people in the LGBTQ community who have a strong faith and who are religious and that is important to them. You don't have to sacrifice one for the other. They can coexist in harmony. I am lesbian and was raised Christian and while I am not religious anymore I understand how others can find ways of making those two parts of their life work harmoniously.

The actors got chemistry the kiss is hot . These stories best when one of the actors who plays Carter is gay in real life. The storyline is extremely important. Male Homosexuality is still a social taboo in many cultures around world.

Did the writers just forget about him, or what?

With Kieron, I always assumed that he was never brought up by the McQueens or the village because everyone saw how his murder affected JP, and no-one wanted to upset him anymore or send him back into mourning depression. As for Craig, that one is more of a headscratcher--the show may as well have killed him off as well, they treat him as if he'd died years ago.

@@pendafen7405 It barely affected JP at all. I remember watching it at the time and despising the whole 'sunset ending' nonsense because Michaela expressed more grief for Kieran's death than Jp ever did.

It looks like they fell into the same trap in the UK that they fell into here in Hollywood in the states. Gen X saw every version of every horrible thing that every gay man could ever go through in the shows and movies that straight producers thought we wanted to see. They ended up proving that they have no clue what real gay men's lives are like in 2023 and proving that they couldn't possibly write a show or a movie in which gay men are normal well adjusted people living out our daily lives without tragedy or 1988 level medical trauma.

I just recommended someone new to Hollyoaks to watch JP-Craig and JP-Ste before I started watching this video, not knowing that JP mentioned Craig, and Ste is in the outro. I don't know how I feel!

Oh my OA I knew it I knew somewhere behind that straight face he was Gay deep down inside and he really has a liking in John Paul. I really thought this whole time that it was Lexi “Carver 😭” who was the one who made Carter go to conversion therapy but it was really his Father when Carter was a Kid? Ooh if he ever comes to the village I’ll be definitively getting similar vibes from Mac Nightingale I really don’t like this conversion therapy and so what if it says that being Gay or Bisexual or whatever sexuality you are is in the Bible it’s no sin. Gram and Gramps are Methodists and I’m Christian (although I will confess I don’t go to church every Sunday like they do) but still being what you should not be a sin it’s not all bad being what you are in your sexuality and my Aunt Holly’s Lesbian and her Parents have no problem with what she is at all. For any of you who are either Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, Transgender or even Nonbinary (which forgive me please I’m still having trouble getting my head wrapped around the meaning of that) and if any of you who’ve also been through conversion therapy I hope you’ve escaped from that and I’m dreadfully sorry if you went through something like this. 😔

this is the first JP vid i've seen in at least a decade, i tapped out when him and Craig ran off into the sunset after Kieron's death. they should've ended things for him right there but it's no surprise that yet another gay character has to be troubled or tormented, can we for once get a gay couple that we find boring because we know they are so much in love that nothing could break them up. i know that wouldn't be good entertainment but at least we'd have that couple that is like feel good food that we reach for when we're depressed because we always know what we are going to get from them.

I strongly support gay marriage.

Wonder where this whole Carter is going with this. I saw the guy that plays Carter in another British soap opera. And he was involved in an abusive storyline where he was being abused by his partner. It was so sad. I'll have to find it and send it to you.

I would love for a gay couple to last more than a year. At first saw on a profile for John Paul and Ste that they were married for 3 years. Thought that's amazing. Only finding out they separated after 7 months to where they were with other people and then finally divorcing two years later. Was like what in the world, why keep them married if they weren't living together
