    I like Yamamoto’s interpreter. He translates Yamamoto's words very throughly without missing/chaning what he meant. Sounds very professional, too.

    And as a baseball fan, I'm sure you agree that this year's World Series was needed. The Texas Rangers had been waiting about 60 yrs for that one. The only thing I would have rather seen is Philadelphia VS Texas in that one. Bryce Harper has done all one man can do to get mediocre teams over the hump, and unfortunately, it's impossible for any one man to do. But Damned if he hasn't come close.

    He doesn't want to be Ohtani's shadow I am NPB fan. I have never actually heard that from his mouth, on the contrary, he would get more attention in Japan if he was on the same team as Ohtani. Unfortunately, coverage of Senga, Yoshida, and Seiya in Japan is minimal.

    I heard this from the news: during his negotiation with teams, a MLB executive speculate that he doesn't want to be Ohtani's shadow because he wants to be THE GUY. Maybe this is just a rumor and an opinion from someone that spoke with him during close door negotiation. @@user-yt9lt9df6w

    One of the media during the Q&A asked him about that and many other Japanese players that played as a Dodger. I think the most impactful experience for him was in 2019 when he was watching Kenta Maeda pitched during a playoff game at Dodger Stadium.

    With Yamamoto, Glasnow, a healthy Walker Buelher, and Kersh to lead by example, we have a formidible starting rotation. Adding Ohtani next year and it just doesn't seem "fair". How good is your pitching when Clayton Kershaw is your weakest pitcher?

    Not really. Ippei is very casual as a translator (hes close friends with shohei). His tone and way of translation uses casual grammar compared to yamamotos guy. More just different styles of translation. They both do a good job

    This Interpreter is So Good. I strongly believe that Yoshinobu will do Excellent Jobs. However, it is Pretty Bad. Many Japanese Baseball Players and Young Baseball Players in Anywhere want to Join Dodgers because of Shohei Ohtani. Shohei is Awesome Guy so Very Many Young Baseball Players respect him then they want to play with Shohei. So it will be Unfair among the Teams.

    To be fair if you are spending a billion dollars Ohtani and Yamamoto are probably the best bets as two hard working people with no off the field issues. Yamamoto has a chance to be underpaid if he is able to pitch as well as he does in Japan, aka cy young every year.

    I mean looking at shohei/ichiro/Darvish/Tanaka/Nomo/etc it seems Japanese are almost locks to be good. There’s a reason the Yankees/ Red Sox/ Cubs/Giants/Mets/ basically every team was interested in him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins the cy young as a rookie.

    There are SO MANY metrics out there to measure pitchers that it isn’t just an educated guess, there is a ton of data to back up how good he is.

    He's fairly small. Even if his hands are bigger than average, the ability to control---as compared to the Nippon league---may end up being somewhat lacking thereof due to torque, etc. over time may yield results surprisingly less dominant and less injury free than Dodger fans or expecting or hoping. After all, there are differences here such as the size of the baseball, the weight of the baseball, stickiness of the baseball, mound, opposing players, etc.

    In Japanese, the language is very sing-songy. It’s part of how they talk…using elongated sounds…and a lot of intonation depending on the topic, environment, audience, etc
