Dude, this video is quality stuff! It's pretty much reinforced why I admire Yoshi-P so much. His dedication to not only the fans as we know, but to his work and how much he enjoys what he does is incredibly inspiring. Amazing video, man!

Thanks dude and I appreciate you checking it out! Reading up on his story makes me admire him even more so. Dude lived his dreams and then some.

I've played FFXIV from 1.0 to currently :) When I saw his apology and promises in 1.0, I decided to give him a shot as he felt so honest and humble and holy crap he delivered :D best experience in my 44 years of playing games :)

Dude legitimately put the company on his back lmao. Turned a failure of an MMO into the company’s highest grossing product

Just finished shadowbringers, it’s insane what this game became. Before ff14 I never would’ve imagined an mmo could ever actually have a good story let alone one of the best in gaming history

    Right? Absolutely incredible writing.

Shadowbringers is so beautiful. It’s such an epic story in itself but in the context of the full FFXIV story there are subtle layers and a depth that really carry through to Endwalker. It sets everything up so perfectly, it’s really an amazing demonstration of storytelling.

I haven't heard of Yoshi-P before XVI, but after watching a PAX panel for XVI I understood why he's loved by FFXIV players. Great video! I love the condensed format instead of being an hour long documentary. Can't wait to see what other developers you make a video about.

I first started my journey in FFXIV because of a KZreadr, but they have since abandoned the game, so I’ve been playing for myself. I’ve actually had the pleasure to meet Naoki Yoshida and Masayoshi Soken at Fan Fest, and it was an amazing experience.

  • Ай бұрын

That's amazing, I've yet to meet a dev of his caliber but maybe one day.

I started XIV on a whim. But I have grown as a person because of the experiences in this game. Most notably, as a leader. I've been in important Free Company positions several times and been the master of two. I have gone from "Unintentionally Controlling" to "Reliable Example" as a leader in this game. And I'm still learning. I've even discovered what I believe to be my purpose, just by reflecting on what I have chosen and accomplished in-game and compared it to my life and creative real life works. Yoshi-P is the leader I want to be. Maybe not as legendary, but, that'd be nice too. "Hero's are remembered. But legends never die." -Babe Ruth, The Sandlot

Honestly, a beautiful story and another example of how much positivity can be gathered from games and the art. Thanks for sharing.

If have done Yoshida. I think you should highly consider doing Masayoshi Soken.

Maybe if the series takes off I can do a video on music composers but right now I want to focus on the devs. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Fantastic video! Love the editing work and your writing. Learned a few new tidbits, and I love that quote at the end from the book! Looking forward to more as always - and definitely hope you're having a blast in Endwalker! Future video suggestions... someone mentioned Hideo Kojima, but maybe folks like Satoru Iwata or Satoshi Tajiri? Or even Michel Ancel, who was behind games like Rayman, Beyond Good and Evil, and King Kong!

  • Ай бұрын

Thank you Ryuko, really appreciate the feedback. I admire Iwata a ton so that might be one I do sooner rather than later.

Really well put together video. I enjoyed my time and learned at the same time, what more can you ask. Your voice is really good for these type of videos I'd say, it made me feel like I was watching the videogames segment of a TV channel or something like that and you are the one handling it. I can see this channel growing in the future with more Resumes/essays and people coming here to sit, relax, learn, and absorb what you have to say about these creators. Showing yourself during the video which I know requires extra work is a nice touch that adds up too. May success follow you.

Yoshi-p also said "negative feedback is worth twice as much". So here it is: you used clips from different sources, the noclip doc for instance, but didn't thank or recommend people go watch it on your outro, i suggest you start listing your clip sources at the end, wouldn't want to be targeted by hbomber's orbital laser now would we? Jokes aside this would also give you time to have you thank the patreons and verbally state the name of the Patreon in case someones looking away during the outro. Good job on the video.

  • Ай бұрын

I actually put a list at the end of the video (after the patrons list scrolled by) of where I got those clips but that's fair. I'll def make it more obvious and verbally state that. Thanks for the feedback.

I cant wait to play Dawntrail very soon, althought I`m still past half of storm blood, I took a break from it and i am now waiting for the update to hop back into it in full. Tactics Ogre is a game that I wanna play, but I have this fear of... not beings as good as FFTactics :T ...

Turned it into a lobby game. Teleport online. No world exploration, no death penalties resulting in a pointless world. Levelling is too easy. Completely lost what an mmo was meant to be. I’ll get plenty hate but the game caters for quick gratification. Now now now people.

  • Ай бұрын

You're entitled to your opinion but it's clear people enjoy the game.

Save it from what? Critical acclaim? Selling minimum 3 million copies? Only thing he can't save is bad faith arguments against the game.
