I have 2 EXM Mobile 8’s and one of the battery powered subs. The Mobile 8’s are some of the best sounding speakers I have ever heard (I use Yamaha DZR315’s for my larger set up so I know what a good 3 way speaker sounds like). Yes, they are loud. I keep them about 12’ clock and run them through a QSC Touchmix 16. Have been using them for the last month. They rock. The sub has to be cranked to get good bass, BUT I think I may add another sub and couple them up for double output. I have the Samson 10’s as well (battery powered), and no offense to Samson, but the Yorkville’s smoke them. These also have a pretty good throw and to get the full effect use them in a larger room or outside. Only gripe is there are no covers yet for these speakers, and swapping the battery will require opening up the units. Haven’t heard the Mackies but didn’t need too. Good review btw!!

In your opinion would two mobile 12s vs 1 mobile 12 and 2 8" mobile subs have more bass? Its an outdoor application under an overpass less then 50 people. Just wondering if im gonna get any bass out of just the mobile 12 by itself

yes it would but there are better cheaper soloutions then this for a beat buddy that would sound great as well. like cerwin vega 8 10 or 12 inch pa spakers or you can get the alesis 2000 watt amp as well for cheaper to that works fantastic with the beatbuddy

I own mobile 8s and I’ve used a single speaker for outdoor events with the output set on music (which is base heavy). They are incredibly loud. We hear the music and felt the bass 6-8 houses down the street from the back yard we were in.

Lol. The full range speaker has twice the wattage of the sub 😆 ….And who makes a dual 8” 100watt subwoofer for PA application? The tech specs don’t sound accurate. I have feeling that Yorkville maybe misrepresenting the wattage ratings…..It sounds more logical that the sub draws 100 watts, but certainly must have way higher output power. If the amp is class D and draws 100 watts then it’s output power would be likely 300-500 peak power. A subwoofer needs to have enough headroom power to deal with transient peaks (kick drum, ya think?) to be able to drive a typical, hi excursion woofer. In your demo the rig sounds surprisingly punchy and loud. The real mystery is why Yorkville products are soooo expensive compared to competitors. Are the cabinets tour-grade plywood? Thanks for the demo

first off they make a dual 8 inch subwoofer so that answers question 1 number 2 its more about the db levels a speaker can produce not so mich the watts you can have 2000 watts but if you only have 100 db well thats usless power , any how yes they are tour grade cabs on their stuff they dont make shitty stuff thats for sure i have owned alot of yorkville stuff and rented some as well and find them to be over all very good and well priced the bigger names like bose well your paying alot of just the name but the sound quaility is great power out is greart as well but thats your top end shit that most cant afford either at the same time i think most bose stuff is way over priced to be honest how ever to each their own if you know how to dial stuff in right you would be supprised what you can get away with with lower end then the big big boys stuff , and yes the main pa speaker is expensive it does not need a sub at all and its pleanty of power for alot of stuff and has a great sound on its own but would be better yes with a larger speaker but it was not made that way these systems are for max portable and great sound on a lower budget and still can put out great sound .. now if you want better then this you pay more money thats how the game works the more you want the more you pay pay and pay

I’m pretty sure the purpose of these pa setups is completely different from your needs. It’s ideal to have 15 inch tops and 18 inch subs. But not everyone has the space for that and sometimes setup time is a huge factor. Some of us musicians carry and setup our own gear and there are times where we have less than 5 minutes to setup and we have just a couple minutes to teardown and go to the next gig. Small battery powered speakers are a game changer for some of us.
