Good explaination of column array vs point. Column arrays are made for wedding guys. I stopped doing them so i use point for car shows. Outdoor stuff. Thanks for explaining the difference for those who don't know why wedding guys have switched over. Your example about Jay's gig at the pool party was spot on. Unless you're in the pool, you won't have the hot spot of sound. You'd think Mr. Pioneer would have known that by now, LOL

This is EXCELLENT Information!!!!! I've got the Bose S1 Pro Plus. I was thinking about taking it back and getting the Everse 8 BUT now I'm thinking I'll got ahead and hold on to it. I need to actually take it out and use it in the field. For busking I'm not DJ'ing and trying to be as "loud" as possible. Also people tend to get up close when you busk but you still want to be "heard" at a distance. Not blow people away at a distance. We'll see how it goes. I'll be playing electric guitar with backing tracks.

Great comparison. I have 2 s1pros and 2 mackie thump go's and I am probably going to get a couple Of these EVs. I can see where all the speakers beside each other the Bose is the least Db. But couple that Bose with the sub1 or sub2 and put it in the s1pro crossover mode and that little speaker comes alive. Dosen't even sound the same. I have done several events with them I was ask to turn it down or was approached later and they said that the couldn't believe how loud and clear they are. But as far as setting up a speaker stand and placing a single one that produces a fuller range of sound this EV will be the one. I really appreciate you going into detail with the products you review because now I know this new speaker is definitely worth purchasing.

Hi 👋 ! I'm thinking of getting a Sub 1 or sub 2 (selling my two behringer 12 in 500 watt subs. ) your thoughts on: crowd size and or room size for...... 1/solo singer singing to either acoustic guitar 🎸 tracks OR (not and) singing with/to acoustic piano& Bass tracks.... music is acoustic reduction of soft Bocelli/ Groban/Buble/ diamond ballads. So not pounding nor real loud . I'm concerned about choosing the much easier to handle Sub2 and just wishing I had invested a bit more to never NOT have enough low end.... I'm hoping you can share some thoughts ... right now I'm unsure about investing in 2 Everse ! ( I have to get two- mono piano 🎹 tracks sound horrible!) Finally, I continue to worry somewhat about supply chain getting worse not better. Finally again:) .... another thought is: Bose, QSC, even RCF could be introducing some nice competitive products soon ! 🤔

I have the bose S1's It's a great small portable battery powered speaker. I use it for gigs as a personal monitor wedge, or a pair with a sub1 and they sound great. For the size alone, the S1 wins to me. The L1 pro32's I have are super consistent to my ears. They're about the same level at 40 feet as they are at 10 feet, so no real hot spot as I can tell. There's a lot of hate out there for Bose, but once I started using it for my live music, I didn't want to go back (I also have a pair of the 8/12 F1's.). I don't know pro audio vs. consumer audio. I just know this bose stuff sounds really good to my ears.

@@EricArbour- Hi Eric. Music is music to me. I'm a musician who uses some backing tracks for drums, horns and some keyboards, with bass, guitar and keys live, all direct. So what comes out of the speakers is pretty much program material (no added stage volume). Rooms are small to medium clubs and a lot of outdoors through the summer. I also have 2 L1 pro32's with 2 Sub1's and run the system in Stereo. They cost way too much for what they are, but I still like the portability, ease of assembly and weight enough to pay the cost.

@Todd Moore hi 👋! Stereo is nice, yes? This issue of "comb filtering " and people to the sides hear unbalanced.... overstated I believe! I'm thinking that the stereo "hearing aspect" is the stereo effects.... your thoughts....? I 🎵 sing solo to just an acoustic piano and bass track (separate tracks) ... piano reproduction horrible in mono ! Stereo much much nicer so, I'm forced to sacrifice the "comb filtering " issue but I can't really pick it up when I listen. What do you think?

I've got two S1 and they are a fantastic Tailgate/party speaker, great for days out on boats etc. They also work great paired with my mini Behringer Eurolive B1200D, but this still doesnt have enough output for a proper DJ setup, unless in a relatively small indoor space or not fussed for overall output. I've used them as DJ monitors before, but they've struggled to be loud enough sat behind a decent pro rig (typical big name pro audio 2 tops & 2 subs). The S1 shares very little with other Bose Pro speakers, and honestly I think should maybe be in the consumer range. The Everse look far closer to the rest of the EV pro family, looking like a smaller ZLX15 which I also own. I think the EV would be my undoubted choice this time, now that it is available, although super keen to hear the new Yorkville battery unit.

Two days ago I traded in an S1Pro at Sam Ash and purchased the Everse8. Spent a few hours yesterday and this morning studying the settings. I just sing karaoke, mostly at home and on occasion with friends. Here's what I think: the biggest problem with the S1Pro, is the awfully WEAK MIC PREAMPS. I just could not use it without a mixer; I plug in a dynamic microphone directly into one of the mic inputs, and I get barely enough sound to even fill one room. Otherwise I kind of liked the sound quality and fidelity. With a mixer, I got great volume for a gathering of say 20 people. Now, with the Everse8. Volume is no issue at all; great microphone volume. But uhhh, the FIDELITY OF THE SOUND, the background tracks for karaoke, is just pretty BAD. Pianos don't sound like pianos. Forget about orchestral music: pretty MUDDY. Though, guitar sounds are pretty good. The vocals that come across are very good. So I'd say that for singing with guitar accompaniment, this speaker ought to be grand. The Everse8 is a busker's dream piece of equipment!!! What other speakers have I tried? We have a large kitchen/breakfast area, and there I have an EON ONE with a Mackie ProDX6v3 mixer. The fidelity of that speaker is really good. Interestingly, even on the Eon One, the volume output plugging in a mic into one of the inputs, is pretty poor just like the S1Pro! So in that regard, the Everse8 is a huge step ahead. But bottom line, I cannot live with this Everse8 for what I do, which is karaoke. It is going back, sorry. I feel burned and plan to just use my Eon One and forget about a second PA speaker for now. EDIT, EDIT!!! MY BAD! I was planning to take the Everse8 back to Sam Ash tomorrow, but I thought, hey, there is no way such a company like EV can make shoddy products! So first thing I did, is that the background music, I connected by a 3.5 mm cable from my phone to the 3.5 mm input (3/4) of the speaker. BIG improvement in the sound! Looks like the Bluetooth Audio needs some work! Also, I worked on the EQ settings. I use the GEQ and not the PEQ, which is a complex Parametric setting which I don't want to drown into right now! :) Anyhow, bottom line is that the Everse8 does ALL that I want it to do that the Bose S1Pro could not. So it is a keeper; I am so relieved. I was so nervous about returning it and trying out the JBL Eon Compact. Thank goodness I won't have to.

The JBL Compact One retails for $629, $120 less than the Everse, so when you purchase 2 thats like $240 more. 112db is less than the EVs rating. But IMO, its not about a db shootout, its about weight, sound and price when dealing with battery powered stuff. So no regrets with my Compact Ones except the ON/OFF switch sucks. But buy what your business requires, I don't think spending $750 for one battery speaker is in my budget and the extra db's won't make much of a difference for me. However that's not my main point. My opinion is "where is it all going to end?" Are we going to try to buy the best of everything when it comes out? Are the next hydrogen-powered up lights going to be the next thing? Or controllers that work off what yor mind tells it to play? Is this the industry where we keep upgrading, keep charging more because we upgraded and not concentrate on the music or the event...but concentrate on what the latest new thing is and that we need it and where are we going to get the money for it? Its getting ridiculous.

Quick dose of reality guys. It's a point source speaker with a battery attached. It comes with a limited stereo mixer but cant transfer the mix to a stereo pair with its "true wireless" connectivity, only the Bluetooth stream? Wow WTF? A k8.2 with a velcro battery packs would have twice the power and better sound. So the only reason for the $750 price tag is to compete with the Bose S1 .. which uses the Bose proprietary sound dispersion design you either love or hate. Say what you will but that tech has always come with a premium. So EV comes along. .takes a typical point source speaker.. tosses a battery in it with a little more oomph in power over the Bose but certainly doesn't compete with just about any other point source speaker with a battery pack. So let this sink in.. this should be a $399 small battery operated point source speaker but since they marketed it against the "overpriced" Bose. They are charging $750 and most are falling for it. I am a fan of the EV 30m and 50m series, but even they don't even come close to column systems like the LD curve for sound, clarity, dispersion, etc. and the LD products are cheaper pound for pound.. although limited in support. Think about it? Also, how come a Harbinger MXL900 for $500 bucks can seamlessly transfer the integrated mixer stereo channels wirelessly without cables but EV's "True wireless" doesnt work with the mixer.. So much for the wireless stereo PA idea for any performers out there? HUGE FAIL.. its is seriously the stupidest thing i have seen in awhile as far as design flaws lol. Good luck. Yeah it sounds good for streaming in stereo but this ain't a $750 speaker period.. and at that price point.. covers are sold separately.. Really?

If it's got no highs and it's got no lows... it must be Bose.

I bought a Bose S1. It took me five minutes to figure out It was in no way powerful enough to be a ceremony speaker. It's consumer audio and anybody out there pitching it compared to the other battery Powered options is doing everyone a disservice

Bose All the way for a micro system it’s small and they sell a very nice comfortable bag pack thats perfect for mobile gigs no way would I use a Bose s1 pro by itself for any professional event lasting longer than 1 hr it’s dosent sound great solo i always take two bose s1 pro and one sub 2 to most of my gigs it’s been working perfectly especially since the sub has a built in crossover design for the s1pro Now if qsc came out with a battery version comparable to bose then I’ll consider switching over I would never take a micro system to a gig that requires more than a micro system that’s dumb asf

I have two S1s and currently two Behringer 1200 subs... is there a use case in your opinion that would lead you to choose the Sub1 instead of Sub2 ?

@@CrossoverClassic both the sub 1 and 2 have an automatic crossover once you activated and store the sub afterwards it will be always ready for the s1 pro ( the sub has a memory) but the sub 2 has that feel as if your deejaying at a club all of my friends are club deejays and they love that sub it’s the most requested sub for them simply cause of the feel that the sub2 gives off for you to feel that bass off a sub 2 from a sub 1 you almost need 2 to match that thumb and it’s a clean bass feel like really clean in general if you mix hip hop house music edm I’d say get the sub 2 but if your into more vocals the sub 1 would work I bought this set up cause we need to leave quick after an event and go finish the night at a club this set up is quick the 2 s1 pro battery’s along with the sub 2 cause of the crossover balancing out the lows will do our gigs those nights so it’s just one extension cord and that’s only for the controller and the sub thats it so where in and out our setup time / leaving time is 10/15 min tops

I just returned both of these! The bass respond is very lackluster! Dry and boxy, any attempt at any real volume is met with squash! When will they understand what the small speakers had 40 years ago! fat, juicy bass that punches you in the face!

EV doesnt have the correct RMS , always comparing them in the RMS . wattage, ohms , the crossover, the size of the punch of speaker and the spread of the sound direction , the eq band crossover , and dont trust when they use PMPO which is a crap thing to label

What a bad habbit to keep comparing the bose s1 pro 6 inch speaker with 8 inch speaker to say the 8 inch spakers are better. Thats like saying a 15 inch subwoofer is better than a 12 inch sub. You mentiones that arrays and point source speaker are different instrument wich is true so a 6 inch vs 8 inch speaker specially the bose s1 pro because that speaker is an array system as well so to bose s1 pro advantage it has more coverage than the everse 8 and any other as in front of the 6 inch woofer has 3 little speakers throwing in different directions. So you didnt want to compare with colum array but you did anyways using the s1 pro. Good videos none the less cheers.

Bad habit? I think people are curious. People wanted to know, so, here you go. On the Bose site, if it says that's a 6.5" speaker, I didn't see it.

For $50 more it's twice the speaker. Real audio people don't buy bose.
