    I don't doubt it, but what have you compared it to? Just curious. EV has been making completely professional sound reinforcement for a long time so this should be an easy win for them.

    Thanks for posting, this is the first comparison I've seen between these two units. FYI, EV says they're going to offer a full cover for the Everse, with a mesh out front to let the sound come out and some kind of coverage in the back that lets the cable in but provides shelter from the rain. Also, the Everse is much easier to control via its app, which is extensive and multifeatured, than via the wheeled control on that tiny screen in the back. I believe the Compact has quite a good app as well.

    It's nice to hear your opinion as a longtime DJ and JBL fan, but without knowing how it fares in a live setting, the review does seem a little inconclusive. I'll be keeping an eye out for that updated review!

    Something like this, it's good at home, but outside at high volume, the sound turns into a strong noise, perhaps due to the large angle of sound dispersion. There is not enough clarity, but the sound is audible from different sides. For example, this video shows it all. Iva also had the jbl for 2 years now, to me output and bass response are the most important, I can deal with the goofy buttons, so if there is a huge difference in output ,I'll definitely go with the new kid on the block .

    Biggest difference is JBL clips red earlier. I wouldn't say a huge difference in output. A little over 100dB real world performance seems to be the limit of any small battery powered speaker. If you want double the output of either at only $500 QSC CP8- Zero bells and whistles:(

    With the JBL you dont have to hold it on and wait. 2 seconds max and it comes on a few seconds later. Not sure why people keep saying you have to hold it until its on? Use the EQ´s on the JBL (6 band and ( band Global). It has the best bass response in its class at 35Hz. That is better than the EV by quite a way. I set the JBL by ear not by looking at lights. The EV is much louder so if you can do without the more flexibilty of the JBL then the EV would be a good choice. I´m actually tempted to get the EV as a second speaker and use the Pass Thru from the JBL and get the best of both worlds. Thanks for the review

    For wedding ceremonies, how do you feel the EV will do? I’m a big QSC guy and usually run a single k12 for ceremony but lately have had a few weddings where having a battery operated speaker would have been useful. I bought a mackie go and don’t like it. For music it’s alright but running a lapel mic through it sucks! Looking at the S1, EV or the Eon now and getting rid of the Thump Go after one use

    Hi! Have you checked how long it takes to fully charge an empty Everse 8 battery? Accurate to the hour and minutes. I want to compare this with my results. And while charging the speaker, which is turned off by the on/off toggle switch, sometimes the LCD display flashes, not always, but this happens. I don't understand if this should be the case or if it's abnormal.

  • @jpwpro

    @jpwpro

    I've never had that happen. In regards to battery life I've used the speaker three events in a row on a weekend for cocktail hour (about 6 hours total) without charging it and still had half the battery life left, they list in the specs 12 hour life. I'm betting that's about right.

    @@jpwproHello again. I live in Russia. There is no one to ask. And I have a few questions. The battery life of my Everse 8 outdoors while using all three channels simultaneously: microphone, guitar, soundtracks at maximum volume is less than 3 hours. Does anyone have such a result? At the same time, at home, when music is played over a single Bluetooth channel with the usual volume for a living area of 28 square meters and a sound pressure of about 80 dB, according to the noise meter mobile application, the result was obtained at 17 o'clock. I have been checking this on a timer for several days. Are 6 hours at 121 dB and 12 hours at 95 dB indicated in the passport for one channel or for all three? Thank you.

    A little bit of math. I also have a JBL Eon One Compact 2020, which has a claimed power of 150 watts. Its lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 6100 mAh at an operating voltage of 14.8 volts. The power of this battery is 90.28 wh. Now Everse 8. The power of the amplifier is 400 watts, the capacity of the lithium-ion battery is 6000 mAh, the voltage is 14.4 volts. The power is 86.4 wh. What's happening? Due to the more than 2.5 times greater power of the Everse 8 amplifier compared to the power of the JBL amplifier (400 vs. 150) and the slightly lower power of the Everse 8 battery compared to the JBL battery (86.4 vs. 90.28), manufacturers of both speakers claim the same operating time, an average volume of 12 hours and a maximum volume of 6 hours. One in one! But judging by their amplifiers and batteries, this can't be happening. Don't you think so? I agree that Everse 8 is more powerful and louder than JBL, I have seen this from personal experience, comparing them on the street, but, alas, this is due to the loss of autonomy. Not everyone knows or guesses about this. Otherwise, it doesn't scare me. The main thing for me is sound, and in Everse 8 it is better for my ears. I just need to use it wisely, optimizing for my needs, and then it will last longer

    How is a 100° vertical throw on the EV a good thing? That means that sonic energy is being wasted- sent down to people’s feet and up into the ceiling. Give me the JBL and it’s 60° vertical throw all day long. Much cleaner sound, especially indoors. The idea is to hit people in their ears. How does a 100° vertical throw help?

  • @jpwpro

    @jpwpro

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment. Not all people are the same height (at least in my area where I DJ weddings 😁) 2nd, sometimes I have very limited spots to place a speaker for cocktail hour, for example this past Saturday's wedding there was no room to put a speakers stand so I had to set my speaker on a ledge which was about 4ft high, so the 100° vertical really helped in that situation. I will be doing a follow up video since I had a chance to use it at 3 weddings last weekend. I was very impressed with the sound quality, much better than the JBL in my opinion. FYI I've been a huge JBL fan and user since the 90's but the last 5-10 years they have really gone down hill with quality IMHO.

  • @bennettshapiro7711

    @bennettshapiro7711

    @@jpwpro - a 60° vertical throw more than covers people of different heights. The higher the frequency, the more directional it is- so if you can’t see a high end driver, then you aren’t properly hearing it, either. Speakers should never be 4’ off the ground for a standing crowd. Think about all the added reflection from the floor. Speakers generally sound best and most consistent when you hit folks in the ears directly, and take as much of the room sound out of the equation as you can. That’s simply much harder to do with a 100° vertical throw. We can agree to disagree.

    It's not about how loud SPL has, it's about the clarity it can get when it is max out on SPL.. If the EV has a 121db but bursting out distorted noise, that's not even good in the ears.. The JBL Compact has Limiter that prevent it to go distorted peak then the 113db is enough for the audience hearing clean sound. You pointing out the details that is not so issue like the JBL's button switch while on the EV is a standard Switch.. A lot of my electronic audio equipment had broken switch and all that still working and not been replaced was those equipment or console of mine that has a button switch just like with the JBL compact.
