York Minster Tower climb

6/16/13- As we were wandering around the York Minster we discovered that we could climb to the top of one of the towers. Even though we're flatlanders and the highest thing we climb is the curb at the 7-11 we decided to try. We got at the end of the line and up we went. It's about 25 floors or so and will sure take it out of you if you aren't in shape and we aren't. However, we made it and it was well worth the climb.
York Minster is almost beyond the ability of words to describe and being able to see it from above and up close is not to be missed. Having the pipe organ as back ground going up and the bells coming down made it even better. As we got the bottom we almost ran into the Boy's Choir coming out of their dressing room.

Great video. As a british person and living in the north east I have been to York and seen the Minster many times but never been up the tower. This gives me a great insight. Don't think I'll ever make it up there as I don't like heights. Thanks though. Sounds like you enjoyed your time :)

I've never been up the Central tower. I've only walked from SW to NW towers to see Great Peter

We all tend to take for granted things close to us. I live only a few miles from several beautiful Florida beaches but haven't been 'to the beach" in 30 years! We loved our visit to both Yorkminister and England. We've been back twice since this video and hope to make many more visits. It's a special place, take care of it for us please.

Ha Ha!..I'll do my best Rick. I'm a big fan of New York..as it happens..though the two Yorks are rather different? I think you'd probably enjoy Whitby..around 45 miles away..as the small coastal town exploits it's connections with both Captain Cook and Bram Stoker..so there are museums and places of interest all over! It's a charming and rather spooky place..but very atmospheric! Anyway!..thanks again for the clip! It's 01:22 now here so I'll say goodnight!..Bob.
