York Jam - 30 Years of Dorkin' - A Flatland BMX Documentary

York Jam - 30 Years of Dorkin' - A Flatland BMX Documentary
Over the past 30 years, people have traveled from around the work to attend York Flatland BMX Jam. Throughout the years, many attendees have filmed and documented the jam in many aspects. This project was an impromptu venture that turned into a thank you to those people who have documented these jams.
During the 30th anniversary jam, Mel Cody sat down with Brett Downs, Jame McGraw, Dane Beardsley, Chris Young, Dave Nourie, Kevin Jones, and Mark Eaton to discuss the history of York Jam and what the jam means to them.

Wow! I'm sat here in my flat in rainy Wales, UK after having just assembled my 30 year Hoffman Big Daddy with Superforks, Odyssey Chase Gouin bars and tyres sat there before me looking magnificent, and I'm watching my hero Kevin Jones being interviewed at the 30th York Jam..... Does life get any better than this? I think not. Thank you and bless you all. Plywood Hoods Forever man.

Thanks to all the Plywood Hoods for all their years of dedication to the sport. It would be completely different without them.

Being a midschool rider from the 90s and representing the West Coast, it's great to hear about the York Jam/ East Coast scene again, and again, and now again... :)

Brilliant work! Growing up in Ireland and riding BMX in the 80's at first like many we were influenced by the Cali scene through various magazines with Bob Eddie & Martin etc, then when the scene really slowed up and practically died in the late 80's in my country, myself and a select few rider friends first saw "Aggroman" in 1990 which featured Kevin & Mark & our minds were blown and then in the early 90's a copy of a Dorkin in York came into our hands. The influence of those Dorkin vids definitely helped to keep our small scene inspired & alive and we continued to ride and have own weekend jams. Now we are all in our 50's and still ride whenever we can although in different part s of the world. Keep the fire burning!

Great work Jon, Mel, and everyone involved! And shouts to those who keep showing up. Captured the vibe very well. I've met some amazing people and made many lasting friendships at York. Stoked to have been a part of many York Jams, and hope to, well, keep showing up for many more. Thank you to the Hoods for the years of inspiration, the friendships, and great times riding little kids bikes in circles in a sh!tty parking lot. See you in Sept! Ride On!

I`m so stoked to see you guys. Especially the K, thought he quit riding many years ago. I started riding flat in `85, but in Germany. Here it was a completely different scene. Different riders, different jams you never heard about I guess. I never even saw a dorking video. There were several parallel BMX Freestyle realities in the 80ties and 90ties... only God knows what it will be in the future

This is actually the first time I’m hearing Kevin Jones in a interview speak for more than a few seconds. It’s so awesome to hear him, other than some of the videos like Joe Kid and Dorkin videos. This is a great segment getting interviews with some of the great legends!! Glad you put this out. Hope to ride at a York Jam someday and meet you all.
