I can’t believe, someone that has an addiction, the whole nation turns on him. He is one of the best actors of his generation, full of talent, charisma and charm. I just hope he knows how much he is loved and appreciated. Shame on the people that have humiliated him.

Not only he is one of the most diverse and talented actors out there, but he is also such a real person. Have been a fan of him for years but not once I have seen him being fake in an interview. He is not afraid to talk about how he was affected by the stardom but he is also aware that being popular does not mean you are a good actor. He is proud of his works but he is also aware of his shortcomings when he needs to be and he always works to improve his weak aspects. I also felt him when he said that he is disappointed that not many people seemed to like Chicago Typewriter because that’s truly one of his best works, I’m glad that he thinks so as well regardless of its’ popularity. I love how sincere and insightful he is throughout this interview and he is so likable as a person as well like he is as an actor. I am so glad many people are watching Hellbound right now too, he deserves to have more recognition globally as he is one of the best actors out there. He also has 3 upcoming movies with genres ranging from action to comedy and I really hope his hard work pays off. He deserves it.

Truth is, a lot of veteran famous actors are being exposed right now because of their acting, and people aren't buying the image they're still selling anymore. That "pretty boy" image, but lacking versatility. A lot more people are beginning to appreciate the acting and not the actor! I agree with you 💯 on everything you just said

I loved it. Him and the two other leads were very compelling as freedom fighters in the 30s and as authors in the present day.. I ended up watching the works of those 2 actors as well because of this series. Its not a complicated storyline. Its just 2 different eras folks!! Am really pissed that it got neg reviews. Some people just like easy boring storytelling. The one scene that cracks me up to this day is the one time he went to fess up and introduce his "ghost writer" to the press. I still cackle when i think of this scene.😂

I really loved that he talked about trying to portray very diverse roles to increase the variety of male leads. He's an excellent actor and no two roles he's played have been the same. I love that he tries everything. I think he, along with some other notable actors, play a pivotal part in getting away from your typical kdrama male lead and expanding them into more complex characters. Truly admire him for that!

'Eyes are the window to the soul.' There's this level of exhaustion that can can be seen in his eyes. One may mistake it for physical tiredness but for people who've been deep in their pain, one look is enough; it takes one to know one. Hong-shik is very articulate and vocal about societal issues. Also very self-aware as he describes the impact of each project he starred in. But even with that level of intelligence, when it comes to pain one could be clueless just like any other human being. You can talk about anything expertly but when things start hitting home, the evasion can be surprising. Self-awareness will not be enough to go against the quicksand of pain. It takes conscious will, effort and support of true friends to get out of the sadness that's starting to be comfortable over time. I've always expected a different persona behind every Korean artists because of how strict their system is. As an 'idol' you must satisfy the fantasies of the fans and hide your human struggles which is the most selfish a fan could ask for. But that's how things will work out for you; smile and pretend you're happy and everything everyone wants you to be.

You can see how he has grown throughout his filmography and still has potential to unleash. He can bring every character alive and tell their stories. Finally someone saying it loud: a popular actor is not necessary a good actor. And his understanding of stardom, its effects and the fact that there are other ways to be a good actor and many routes to contribute to the cinema world, is refreshing to hear. That is why I like him soo much in every role he has. I know I already asked Netflix to pair him with Jeon Yeo Been (After my Death and Night in Paradise still haunt me), as I consider them having a similar understanding upon what acting and cinematography means, beyond stardom, popularity and fear of unpaved roads or atipical characters. So hear me once again you too, Swoon. 😀 These types of actors and actresses I want to watch and like me more. Because they don't just entertain us, but shake us to the core, educate us and create new roads and memorable characters, like groundbreakers. All the best for this actor and manny memorable projects in the future! 👏

Yooh ah_In is a very talented artist, a very good friend, kind. He is not perfect but he is a good person. His battling against insomnia destroyed him because he lives in Korea. Had he lived in other countries, he'll not be condemned like what is happening now. People in Korea are not considerate esp to artists and kpop.

"An actor who can play any kind of role" yes sir we 100% agree to that. I always love watching his interviews, he addresses some issues that are very important for viewers to understand to support an actor's p.o.v. I want to write a lot but just wanna say you're an amazing actor and a very thoughtful person. Hoping to see you one day winning Academy Awards.

it's not complicated. i would say unique, probably. historicals that are set in 80s or 30s really hits different. esp their outfits and the settings, chef's kiss. and yes yoo ah in's look and outfits there is iconic. i swear. after watching the movie alive i couldn't even recognize him there in chicago typewriter. you should try to check out hymn of death too. or mr. sunshine if you like that kind of era.

Although it is obvious now that he is a talented and experienced actor, his performance on new projects always surprises me. It is like instead of adapting to that role/character, it feels like the role/character is adapting to him. Not sure if that makes sense, but I totally have high respect on him. 👏

Not only does he have a diverse body of work and is constantly challenging himself with his roles, but he truly understands all the characters he's played. He gets to know them as you do a real person, then puts his own spin on it. This is why his acting is so real, because there's really a piece of him in each character. This is what makes him such a good actor.

Must watch Chicago typewriter, idk why he said that people didn't like the drama well I think it had a pretty good story line and was emotional, the OST and some scenes were so good. Just love his versatility and the way he speaks. Even watched Hellbound it was great and I'm still curious when the S2 will come because we need answers for the ending scene.
